Well I know who Red Lotus is in the comics, given we heard nothing until now, made me think that he could be an eXtra.

Perhaps they pulled Sunfire from the script and inserted Red Lotus (I remember him from Claremont's X-treme X-men run).

This is just so typical of this writer lol

As someone who has been involved in mergers & acquisitions, and works in an HR function, the notion that Disney is already dictating anything to Fox smells like ******** to me. This stuff is sensitive people, you have no idea how delicate Fox and Disney need to be here.

Disney can have their initial planning internally, all companies do that, but they cannot dictate what Fox is doing. I don't know how clear executives from both companies can be on this matter.

Why are you quoting me?

It's "Cktopl33" that brought up the rumour as if it were truer than other rumours floating around. Maybe because it makes this movie look better (an insider hates New Mutants but says DP is looking good! He must be telling the truth!) and the other rumour that he/she wanted to debunk made the movie look bad.

Thing is, most people don't know how this stuff works IRL, and start making up complete and utter ******** based purely on fanboy wish fulfillment.

I wouldn't think Disney is 'dictating' but they might well be laying down terms under which the acquisition of Fox would be acceptable, or there might have been certain things mentioned/suggested during the many discussions both sides must have been having.

Yes, indeed. Red Lotus, that pivotal character from the Dark Phoenix saga, lol...

Based on powers, he'll be one of Lilandra's team of baddies, as his powers are suited to go up against Nightcrawler, Beast or Quicksilver.

Sounds familiar. My link to THR's piece on 'major reshoots' was picked apart, yet they went on to say THR's report of a reboot/reconfiguring of this series was spot on.

If it's negative, then it's not true, of course. If it offers a glimmer of positivity, it must be true.

The Damage Control is strong with that one.

Meanwhile, Avengers Infinity War makes more in one weekend than X-Men Apocalypse (or indeed Logan) did in its entire run.

^eXceptional!

It's not difficult to know this stuff if you work in a corporate function, specifically Legal, HR, or Finance. Or if you are a business owner.

You think the others that don't align with your knowledge (aka speculation) don't have job eXperience/s in those fields?

infinity war box office, is not the subject of this topic,if it did more or less, it does not matter.
these comparisons leads nowhere.
maybe lead to discussions of "disney fans" vs. "fox fans." (which some seem to like)

I hope you show the same disdain for the forum members here who are spreading rumours that the reshoots are to align Dark Phoenix with the MCU.

But I haven’t seen that so probably not.

when most 'old' x-men twitter accounts are basically inactive this year, that should tell you the current state of the x-men movies.

Theory, what if story the Dark Phoenix story is told by an older Jean Grey after the events of Logan?

For example, in the film Arrival, the film is narrated by Amy Adam's to her daughter.

What IF Dark Phoenix opens with Famke Janssen's beginning to tell the story of Dark Phoenix to her daughter, or even better, X-23.

At the end of the film, we see the original team at Logan's grave after with the same mutants, giving one last shot of the original three: Jean, Cyclops, and Storm capping two decades of this franchise.

Wild speculation. Lol

I think that would actually be cool, although Logan is not part of this 2nd version of the story.

I kinda really dig this idea :woot:

If only the team of this film was that creative lol.

Good God, Foxhave neglected Famke, Halle and Marsden after the success of Dofp for whatever reaaon. So to bring them back at this point would just be a revelation to me. Even with the merger looming, Kinberg and company are fully committed to burying the X-Men in the past setting. So its not gonna happen.

Yeah, that's complete BS, as well.

That would mean all 3 survived the mansion incident.

Although why cap 2 decades of the franchise when they still got at least 2 other movies on the way with what sounds like maybe New Mutants and probably X-force being filmed in October.

Since presumably no one knows how this deal is gonna work out everything is pretty much just business as usual.

This franchise is gonna end without a clear closure like those previous Spider-Man/Fantastic Four franchises.. That's what happen when the person in charge of the series to oversee things is all over the place and have a bad track record.

Anyway, I just can pretend that dofp is the final chapter.

Who knows whether Slugzilla is telling the truth or not. he definantly gives a convincing talk but there are moments like hearing Disney have any small input at all in something they shouldn't have any input on that does seem odd.

I was also scratching my head when he said Colossus and X23 were gonna be in reshoots of New Mutants since it always sounded odd to me that this would be the film where 2 characters got cherry picked from 2 other spin offs to be part of it.

We don't know whats happening behind the scenes so he could very well be telling the truth (at least to his knowledge).

The thing is....whether or not New Mutants releases isn't entirely dependent on Slugzilla's claims. This is because Dark Phoenix will likely be released before the acquisition deal closes in the summer next year (which by the way was announced by Peter Rice, President of 21st Century Fox and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Fox Networks Group). New Mutants, aside from any internal production issues, may well be in Disney's hands by then and I don't think Disney is going to associate that with any of their marvel films. I do think there were two films planned for Dark Phoenix based on certain cast member comments and (probably now deleted) tweets from crew members but after the sudden announcement of the acquisition closure, Fox cut off any future movie plans for obvious reason. So if there are any official announced reshoots, its entirely plausible the reason is to correct any planned connection to a second film. If you remember back in May 2016, Kinberg said that he hoped Dark Phoenix would be the first in a new trilogy of films focusing on the younger versions of the original X-Men characters.

I don't know if there's input by Disney on films- but again, Disney wouldn't really need to if decisions by Fox just happen to align to Disney's benefit....the deal did reach a closure date very quickly. Exchange of a lot of money is happening and Disney will also be assuming $13.7 billion of Fox's net debt and remaining Fox conglomerate will pay an $8.5 billion cash dividend to shareholders of Twenty-First Century Fox. I do think there is communications between both companies because that would usually be common & confidential in mergers and acquisitions and likely to involve top executives.

Uh....I brought up a quote from Slugzilla in relation to Derrick's comment about Disney stepping in to stop the release of Dark Phoenix. Precisely to point out that Dark Phoenix will release before the acquisition closure and New Mutants will likely be in Disney's hands as well as rightly pointing out Execs knowledge of the upcoming deal closure. All of which I stated in my post. None of that is dependent on any rumored internal production claims of New Mutants by Slugzilla, and I believe Slugzilla directly stated Disney doesn't have any official control over Fox's decisions. However, it wouldn't be inaccurate to say Disney is having some influence on Fox as a direct result of the acquisition deal.
