I would have legitimately enjoyed seeing the black leather suits from the original trilogy over these eyesores. At least I'd have some nostalgia for those. Still irritates me a bit they showed the briefest attempt at the 90's Cyclops and Nightcrawler at the end of Apocalypse, but they abandon them for the next film.

It’s so disappointing to me that we aren’t getting those beloved 90’s costumes

Could never count on fox for that kind of stuff.

I get the feeling these suits will once again be placeholders for a big costume reveal for the third act, or like Apocalypse, the final scene. We’re constantly teased of the X-men team before the credits roll.

Next time guys!

Fire fighters and police officers don't go around each with custom outfits and I think that's meant to be the same idea here. It's a branding type thing for a team of national heroes.

Personally I don't see an issue with them, at first I was abit disappointed they didn't stick with the ones that showed up at the end of apocalypse but these are certainly a step up from apocalypse dark outfits they had for the final battle and no one can say these ones ain't from the comics.

I will agree they're not as bad as the black plastic Apocalypse costumes, but that's not praiseworthy.

I'll be satisfied if these are the costumes they'll use the whole movie. Please, save the 90s costumes for the MCU.

On second thought, yes I agree ^^^

Besides if a more palatable, less boring costumes were to show up in the third act, surely Fox would use those as a basis for these pop toppers.

However, one would think they'd have Jean in her Dark Phoenix-look.

I certainly wouldn't call these boring. if they went back to the plain black OT outfits then that could be considered boring.

Then again there are so many different X-Men outfits over the years and the current version is only one of those... Yes we could argue the 90s ones are iconic but even then the MCU may go for another one.

Almost 20 years and we’re still hearing “oh they’ll get them in the next movie”

And It will probably happen when the deal goes through, so I can’t be too mad. It’s just typical. Again, I’ve mostly loved the FoX-Men, but the suits were easily the biggest disappointment by far.

You could say we already got it. People wanted a comic accurate outfit instead of black costumes and we got outfits that are from he comics. Are they the versions you wanted? Presumably not. Are they custom to each character? No.

The irony is, just like opening up the mansion as a school, with the adult X-men as teachers was inspired by the movies, Morrison and Quitely were probably inspired by the OT outfits for these boring (yes boring) "New X-men" designs.

That said I actually liked the X2 costumes, the OT actors looked good in them and those costumes were actually body-hugging--flattering, perfected from X-men 1's designs--unlike the lose-looking costumes from Brett's film.

However going back to the leather outfits from that era would be the last thing I want. It's 2018. The whole world has accepted their superheroes in superhero costumes.

Cmon man, You really gotta be that literal

We got them for 5 seconds.

I would like to know how we'll at one point go from these costumes:

To these:

Or are they just going to skip the top costumes entirely for the new ones?

I like them, but I’m also a fan of the uniform look... at least for the FOX-men. It makes sense that they’d all be dressed similarly and somewhat practically. I really disliked the black suits in Apocalypse; they were easily my least favorite uniform look from the films. I didn’t like the Lee-era-inspired suits at the end much either, though. It was jarring to see something so comic book-y in a film franchise that is so very different from it’s source material. I’d probably be more open to individualized, more comic-esque suits in a reboot that, contextually, is more comic-esque itself. It just didn’t work for me in this film universe. Plus the clunky, plastic gloves and boots were just tacky. :o

I think they are only using the fact that this movie occurs 10 years after apocalyse,I particularly did not like the apocalypse costumes
I do not see problems in changing costumes, I think the general public has become accustomed to these changes in the franchise
I think it's good that Simon tries to create his own identity on the franchise.

New costumes look terrible.... How do you go from individualised colorful costumes to samey boring costumes... Geez! Oh its a Kinberg film. :o

Is it me or is the construct of the new costumes EXACTLY like the OT black ones. It seems as if all they did was change the fabrication, take away the shoulder padding and turn the black X into a yellow one?

That’s what I’m getting from the line detail on the toy.

#DarkPhoenix listing is now missing from 20th Century Fox website. #NewMutants is still up. What does this mean, if anything? New date? MCU-bound? Shelved? Nothing at all?

Nothing wrong with the uniforms. Sometimes the X-Men wear uniforms, sometimes individual costumes. That's the way it has always been. They look iconic, unlike whatever those "flightsuits" in Apocalypse were.
