Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

That wasn't from a power boost, that was from an attempt by Apocalypse to inhabit his body...
Both Storm's white hair and Xavier's baldness coming from Apocalypse were horrible ideas.

Regardless, I doubt Kinberg felt Magneto's powers had to be limited because he got a power boost the last movie LOL. People forget he also lifted a stadium in DOFP. But he can't build a decent looking Genosha.

It probably would be spoilers to say anything about the confrontation between Magneto and Jean, but it sounds like he does attempt to attack her and it doesn't go well.

That would be cool if the transformation is done right (CGI of course).

Simply wishful-thinking. The gray/green Red Hook New York get-up has two shirts underneath it. The top shirt is a complete button down. The red coat get-up only has a henley.

Why do you think Kinberg would even be taking into account that Magneto had a power boost the last movie? You're the one who brought up that excuse.

I mean, so far there's been zero mention of Jean unleashing the fiery bird the last movie.

I brought it up? He specifically mentioned "all he did in Apocalypse" and specifically mentioned him destroying the Opera House in Sydney, a feat he was able to do when he got his power boost.

The movie looks so isolated. Where are the people in this universe?

Magneto seems like he is purely out to kill Jean.

Assuming, he still has his "power boost" he's not going to be using it to cause mass destruction that will harm others.

It will like come down to a contest of power between Magneto and Jean. And based on the helmet crushing seen, it lokks like she can easily subdue him.

Bird?

Yes, you brought up the fact it was a power boost, and now ask us why don't we just accept Storm's white hair as some permanent side effect despite this never being explained.

I've also read on this forum Storm does more impressive feats than in Apocalypse allegedly. That doesn't sound right...

That fire bird looks very last minute.

What happened to the EW Naked Fiery Jean? This is nowhere to be seen so far. If it's just at the end of the movie, why put that for promotion so long ago? Doesn't make any sense.

Didn’t you hear? Evil Disney told Kinberg to change his vision (which was apparently closer to the comics than what we’ll end up with). The same Disney that will save this movie’s promotion. But don’t lose hope, this will still be as good as Simon’s original vision. Or something.

I know it’s hard to keep track of all the different narratives.

So in a span of 10 years a mutant, one that's specifically in training, can't learn how to use their powers in different/more effective ways?

Umm, wasn't the entire third act reshot? That's probably what happened. They did the long coat X3 look to save costs

Then why does Magneto's Genosha look like a trailer park?

Underwhelming trailer. Hopefully, they kept most of the good stuff under wraps. As sceptical as I am for Kinberg, I am actually rooting for the film to be actually good!

If Dark Phoenix happened a day after Apocalypse’s defeat in 1983, a day after Storm lost her power boost from that movie, I have no doubt in my mind Kinberg would’ve done the exact same things he’s doing in this new movie. Yes including any Storm power displays you say she would’ve learned in our 10 year-gap between 80s and the 90s.

The ten-year gap is just an easy all-encompassing excuse that Singer/Kinberg/fans of the FC films love to throw out for anything that doesn’t pass the smell test.

People keep saying they reshot the entire third act, do we actually know they did?

I know it’s a debatable topic but I’m sure we established that actors were only onset for 2/3 weeks, that really isn’t a lot of time to reshoot a third act.

Unless they have cut scenes to make up for it. I am curious as to why other scenes aren’t showing up in trailers.

Well someone in the know here claims the train sequence was part of the reshoots. how the original sequence went is uncertain.

Although from how it sounds more action came out of the new sequence than the original.

So you use a hypothetical that didn't happen to back that up? If you say so. Lol

It's not only the 10 year gap that legitimately proves that one's power could improve, I think we've kind of seen that happen many times and with many people, you know like in the comics.

But hey, if you want to take issue with why someone is capable of doing something that they weren't able to do years ago, I guess that's your right.

I’ve been saying all along it was longer than 2 weeks but certain people don’t like that.
