Yes, it does have a director. James Mangold who did the last two Wolverine films and is working on the script with Kyle Craig(X-23’s creator and writer of Thor 3).
It hasn't been officially announced that Mangold is directing X23. The only thing we know is that he's writing the script. He's already been tapped to direct another movie for Fox so he's working on that movie right now... Which will only delay X23 thus making the chances even slimmer Marvel will let it come out

Green Lantern was originally meant to be the start of the DCEU. Which came out before DKR, which was always meant to be closure for the character.
When was it ever officially stated that it would be the start of the DCCU? Like Man of Steel, wasn't it originally suppose to be a standalone trilogy? But assuming it was - 1). Bale being Batman in a DC Universe was not out of the question in 2009 when GL was announced. 2) TDKR came out only a year after Green Lantern did and had already started production before Green Lantern even came out. Not the same thing here when the earliest X23 can come out I'd 2020

From what I know Green Lantern was suppose to kick off the DCEU and Man of Steel was always meant to be apart of that cinematic universe. But after Green Lantern flopped Man of Steel began the first DCEU installment instead since Green Lantern would be regarded as non-canon.

But the idea of a 'Justice League' film will be much more palatable to Warner Bros. if they have more than just Superman and Batman to build on," Katz said.. "The success of 'Green Lantern' and maybe another B-list character would open the door for more serious consideration of something like 'Justice League.' And who knows? You may see evidence of a shared universe even before that."

When we started with Man of Steel, we knew that we were going to expand the universe. From the moment that we started with Man of Steel, we knew that once we opened up the Superman … You can’t do Superman without talking about aliens existing in our universe. We knew that we were going to have to really consider what the world building would be beyond the unique film. Then, as soon as Warner Brothers announced that slate, we really got intensive about it.

Nolan’s Batman was never going to join the Justice League considering that was suppose to take place in a universe with no meta-humans or aliens. And like I said DKR was always going to be the final chapter. On top of that, Green Lantern went into pre-production before Rises did.

Marvel won’t be able to even introduce mutants until 2022 at the very least. Since Disney won’t get full control of Fox until 2020 since they would spent the rest of 2019 intergating after the government approval in May of that year. Laura’s movie should be in production by then.

I seriously doubt Marvel is going to wait until 2022. Unless there is a big snag I can see 2021 or even at least mentioned by 2020.

Back to X-Men: Dark Phoenix...it’s release date of Nov 2nd...does It have any other superhero movies around that time coming out? I think it may be have a good space by itself.

No, I think it's going to be the only hero movie in november
and the competition at the box office will not be very strong (Smash nuts and blazing samurai)
it was a good choice

New mutants that will have strong competition
will practically have 13 days to do well before arriving the new avengers

After seeing Mollys Game, I'm hoping Chastain gets a meaty role, whoever her character turns out to be.

I was fully expecting a "'kneel before me" , hammy , Hela, and Rita Repulsa type villain in this . Chastain's character does not seem that type. Or maybe she goes full ham by the end.

I hope she is nothing like Rita or Hela though I've seen neither of those shows because both didn't interest me at all.

The deal with Sony happened in 2014 and Spider-Man didn’t show up until 2016. Since they can’t do anything with mutants until 2020 I suspect 2022 would be the earliest to see any.

I'm more excited for 2022 than I am for a Kitty Pryde movie. Even if it is Tim Miller directing.

Uh yeah, no. The deal with Sony happened in Early 2015. It had been in negotiating since 2014. And Spider-Man was recast FOUR months later. I expect to hear casting need by the end of 2019

Kitty Pryde if made will once again be different to any other Fox film made, Frosty from Collider says. Exciting.

I'm starting to wonder if nothing will change when this Disney/Fox deal finally closes.

I believe management will change and Feige will take control, but what I mean is keeping the worlds separate within the MCU and not necessarily combine them. Maybe the question we should be asking, will Feige and Marvel have more fun with two sandboxes instead of just putting everything in one?

By keeping two, they can push the limits with X-Men which they can't with MCU proper. X-Men and spinoffs becomes their adult comicbook franchise and MCU proper caters to family.

Just food for thought.

In that case, i will be the happiest fan.

In that case, expect to be miserable and find 'pure cinema' elsewhere.

Sounds harsh, but I truly think it'll be in your best interest.

And ours.

Except that was a simple kind of partnership deal. This one of the largest mergers in history that has to do with a lot more than Marvel so yes, it's going to take a little longer than it did with Spider Man.

I don't like Disney at cinema, that's is clear, but if mutants world will be like an island in Disney in which mantain a certain quality with even more freedom than now 'cause they have a main family blockbuster in Avengers, that would be great.

Yes, it's a dream 'cause we all know that even themes like politcs, racism and social issues in general are scaring for Disney.

That will be very great: integreted the muties in a very social/political movie with superheroism at minum level (or without it). Or also a total visual movie. Or a Legion movie directed by Lynch.

Wonder no more. Bob Iger confirmed that the X-Men would in fact (*gasp* surprise) be coming to the MCU. Who would have thought. The Disney PR also confirmed this. It was literally one of the first things clarified about the acquisition

Yes, a year and half longer. But definitely not until 2022. X-Men characters will start showing in the MCU much sooner than that.

You are free to your opinion, but at which point is it beating a dead horse?

I understand your perspective, but the reality is Marvel (not Disney) and Feige will be producing these films within the MCU proper. That is guaranteed, Iger stated it in the PR after the deal was announced.

My only suggestion was making life easier on yourself by either excepting that reality or moving on to greener pastures. That's what I did with the Sony Spider-Man movies. Unless you want to constantly be disappointed.

It's not my intention to sound harsh or rude on this topic, but that's what is coming in the future. You seem to have written off the X-Men at Marvel, so I don't know what else to say? Many people are excited at the prospects, sorry you aren't.

And yet Marvel has Nick Fury, Falcon, War Machine, Black Panther in relevant roles. And yet, Marvel is giving us Black Panther movie and Captain Marvel. And yet Marvel gave us Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Agent Carter. What has FOX given us with X-Men?

If you like FOX X-Men movies because a more grounded and dramatic take, that's fine. But don't come with this bs of social issues when FOX has the most important black female character in the comics and only treated her like garbage, when the X-Men is known for female protagonism but the movies has always focused on white straight males, when most female characters don't even talk, when minorities and people of color are only decorations.

When it comes to that, FOX X-Men movies serves only for those people who love to pretend they care about diversity, but don't like anything that is not driven by white males.

No, it was accounced in early 2015 and the actual deal went down in 2014 right after the Sony hacks.
