The Winter Soldier "Yeah, it's going to be fun"- The Black Widow/Scarlett Johansson Thread - Part 1

She rocks. I love the way the plays Black Widow, and I can't wait to see her in CA: TWS.

yikes, extreme close-ups don't do anybody any favors^

Scarlett really got a chance to get under Natasha's skin in more depth in this film, her and Cap provide great foils for each other and their scenes together really give the audience a better insight into both characters and them into themselves as they access what they do and the business they are in.

Nice to hear that there is some character for Natasha here. :)

That baby of (and inside) of Scarlett must be self conscious..I mean to keep her mother from showing any real visible signs that she's pregnant, let alone on how far along she is at this point.lol

For me, she had the best performance in the movie.

Just her facial expression when Nick Fury was announced dead and the kiss she gave to Captain America at the end were just good. She really pulled it off very well.

So some of Natasha's past comes to light in this movie. I wonder what specifically is revealed about her less than laudable background to get her hauled before Congress? Given Scarlett's, Whedon's, and Feige's comments about more of BW's past coming to light in AOU, I'm thinking that TWS/AOU might be a "two-parter" so to speak when it comes to delving into the Black Widow's dirty past.

So for the folks that have seen this film, granted, while they are still technically just "friends", who would you guys say Natasha has the closest bond with (from what you've seen on screen) between Steve and Clint?

Well that's not all that surprising. Steve and Natasha got a whole movie to play off each other/establish a connection. She and Hawkeye only really got one scene (after she frees him from Loki's mind control), and I really like how Scarlett and Renner played off each other in that scene. But it was ONE scene vs. an entire movie, so there's no contest.

If BW gets a solo movie, I expect Renner to be the co-star as Hawkeye and maybe even Falcon, and make it a movie not just about Natasha but also about SHIELD.

Yes we got the whole interaction with Cap in this movie and you see a really huge bond between them but, isn't there a picture of natasha wearing an arrow necklace? What more bond do you want from that? :P

Steve. No doubt about it. Their interactions was part of the highlights of the movie fpr me personally.

For those who have already seen the film; how did BW fare against the Winter Soldier?

Have to say loved this outing as BW it it without a doubt SJs best performance as the character. I really hope Marvel give her a low budget origin movie.

She out smarted the Winter Soldier on a couple of occasions with some real tension in this sequences. It's not long to wait no and I look forward to reading everyone's reviews of her performance.

Dunno if anyone is up or cares, but She's gonna be on good morning america in a few minutes.

Oh my goodness, this whole article! THIS!!

While Johansson’s first Marvel appearance in Iron Man 2 may have relied somewhat upon sex appeal, this was quickly nixed in favor of characterizing her as the most cerebral Avenger. Her most important scenes in The Avengers relied upon her intelligence and skills as a spy, to the extent that she even managed to outwit Loki, the God of Lies. At the end of the movie, she’s the one who closes the portal that let all the aliens into New York. Then in Winter Soldier she’s given second billing to Captain America, a meaty role that showcases a wide-ranging skillset that stretches far beyond just “kicking ass.” At no point during any of these movies does she seduce anyone, by the way.

Sadly, there’s very little sign of this character in the most easily accessible reviews of both The Avengers and Winter Soldier. Judging by the Guardian, WSJ, or New Yorker, Black Widow is more like a blow-up doll with a black belt. By their logic, if she’s wearing a tight outfit, then she must be a sexy ass-kicker, meaning that she must be the token female character, and therefore is little more than eye candy.

She was one of my favorate things from the avengers. She helps make up for some problems I had In Iron Man 2. She Is even better In
Winter Soldier. In fact you could almost call film Captain America & Black Widow.

Yeah she Is sexy babe of Marvel studios films but she has more to do than just
look beautiful
If that was the case she would have hooked up with cap while they were on run together after the kiss to hide from Hydra. Most films would have gone there

She manages to get the jump on him (and others) a couple of times throughout the movie, and greatly showcases both her intelligence, wits, and loyalty throughout the film. Ultimately, against Winter Soldier she is really just trying to survive/escape. She can't take him head on.

Widow and Cap basically save each other multiple times in the movie. They have a really good dynamic.

perhaps they SHOULD have call it that

I guess we don't need that Black Widow movie after all. :o

No, that trailer just proves how much we DO need a BW movie.
