Yes, loved that. Widow was fantastic again. She really owned in combat. Using her gauntlets to stun, hitting that goon over the head as a coup de grace, etc. Her dynamic with Steve worked well, felt very right. She blended seamlessly into his world. And the wire's wrapped around a guy's neck.
Shipping...that's a dirty word round these parts.
Those were pretty enjoyable. Putting those together was a great idea and you could really see the stark differences they had in the beginning melt away as the plot unfolded.Cap/Widow's chat in the car was a lovely little scene. They had a fun dynamic.
I also enjoyed their back and forth evading the agents in the shopping centre.
And whoever thought she didn't have chemistry with Chris in their other movies? Yeah, no. They were smokin' together as platonic buddies with a current of "something else" running between them. It's not that I even "ship" them, but jeez they were great, great, great together.
While she had more personality in this film than in previous appearances, I think characterwise she took a step backward here, and felt more like a collection of spy elements than a character, if that makes any sense. Her motivations weren't ever really explored, she just sort of did "spy things", like misleading Cap, etc. She's a lot more "flirty sex appeal" and less "capable spy" in this, though she's still very capable in the physical sense.
I don't think Marvel quite knew what they were doing with the character when WINTER SOLDIER was filming. Is it too much to ask that Black Widow get some kind of development and exploration beyond "I have a mysterious dark past"?
