No mention of May being married? I wonder what happened to her husband.... Was it Phil?

Doubt that Phil is her ex, but there is definitely good on-screen chemistry between May and Coulson.

That works for me and it looks like the show is going lead us that way based on May's tiny emotional crack-up (ep17) when Phil confronted her on the Bus about her self-professed team development role after Project TAHITI was forced upon Phil. Also based on her throw away comment to Ward about how her mission price was to high and "lost" Coulson for her.

Another great episode.

*"...and nothing bad ever happens when you mess with something called Darkforce." :woot:

*Good acting from Chloe B throughout. Also liked the bit at the end when she puts together why she's still alive.

*Sad to see Oswalt go. I love that guy. Hopefully all the bloodthirsty fans who're always clamoring for more deaths are temporarily satiated.

That was an electronic portrait that changes once in a while. She was probably leaving a message for the team to find later.

Great catch, I'd forgotten they'd set that up through Koenig last ep.

- " Fitz, Simmons was never attracted to Triplett, she has a crush on you"
- " r... Really? "
- " JK, they are doing it right now"

LOL

Koening: What's in the box?

Fitz: Simmons.

Simmons: ... Ooh! The Tardis!

Oh, and the bit with the needle under Ward's fingernAAAAAOOOOWCH!

I'm trying to jump on board, as it appears he's going to be sticking around. The Howling Commandos connection the writers gave him at least makes it seem that way. But other than that connection, there's not much to him. His role is just as a foil to the other characters (more like a place holder than a interesting character). So far, I feel like he's just a poor man's "Good Ward" (he fills the role, but he isn't as good as Ward at his job). If he's going to stay, I hope we get some more development that fleshes him out soon.

That said, "Bad Ward" is great and I hope the character stays as a regular. This episode gave same humanity to the killing machine. I love it when a show makes me feel for a bad guy.

i dont know aptman one of the things i dig about tripp is that he"s not this "the weight is off on the gun, can take on 5 dudes at once super solider guy" we saw ward was.i always had a problem with anyone being like that unless they are Steve Rodgers! it works for "evil ward" cause it makes him a really nasty dude for the good guys to tangle with. it really didnt work well with him being a good guy and able to do everything( thats a big complaint with people not liking superman) thats why i like tripp. he's all" i will be whatever you need me to be" since he is still trying to prove himself to coulson. especially after now he knows garrett was a hydra guy right under his nose. that " i would have emptied the whole magazine into his head" means that he still feeling the sting of someone who he respected betraying him. the episode before this where he gave Simmons the knife and said if you use it then i know you are hydra was where i really started to dig him.you gotta have some big ones to give someone who might kill you the means to do it in order to gain their trust.
Which Howling Commando is he a grandson of?
yeah gabe jones like Dr evil said! That was cool giving him linage back to captain America! I dig how marvel has all this synergy going on between the movies and AOS show.

Yeah.To be frank,When I see him,I can't help but feel the "real world" story about his involvement:"Yeah,he's the 'Ward' that we really should've started the show with-diversity and all-but we had to make the traitor white as to not rile up folks easily offended. But hey, you've got your diversity now."

Really great episode.Loved the whole thing with the cellist.I was pulling for Coulson to let her see him,but like his hero Cap,he made selfless call.

Ward is really pulling out all the stops.I have to wonder what Skye thinks she's gonna do once they get wherever they're going.

Thankfully,May has become a more interesting character in the wake of the "uprising".Curious to hear more about her past.

Don't know much about Blackout, but it was cool he had a past with Coulson and it all connected to the Cellist.

Looking forward to Maria Hill next week!:awesome:

Simmons dropping a Tardis reference.
Oh, and Triplett is Gabe Jones' (i assume) grandson.

They do actually look like they could be related a little bit.
Ghostbusters!
I thought the same thing
So what agency did Mama May work for? She had to have known Maria Hill from there, but the dialogue steered her away from being an actual SHIELD retiree. Also, the show closed with a closeup of her license plate, which was Pennsylvania. Had two letters and five digits, but I can't read them or tell if there's any significance to them; however, the fact that they zoomed in on it seems to indicate that it might be important.
I think it would be cool if May's mom was one of Shang-Chi's allies like
Fah Lo Suee who is a top MI-6 boss in the comics.

A really good episode tonight. The story was good, and the tension was good.

I do have to say though (as an Oregonian) I was bummed that it wasn't shot in Portland. They even go so far as to show a city which is clearly NOT Portland (via the skyline layout and the bridge approach which was wrong) but at least The Cellist was wearing a sweatshirt that had PDX on it.

Anyhoo...

The teaser for next week was pretty epic. Curious to see what Hill is doing, given that she is shown turning in the team to Talbot.

Perhaps the season finale will be Congressional hearings? LOL Wouldn't be the first time a show wrapped a season that way...

I'm partial to the idea that Natasha's speech about "you need us" (which, incidentally, is an appeal to the same paranoia that led to Project Insight in the first place), warms up Congress for Coulson testifying next and essentially gives him the green light to reestablish SHIELD (as a more limited organization). Of course, it would also mean that Coulson appears on national television, which would be a good way to handle the reveal that he is still alive.

That being said, I'm starting to think things are pushing a little too far past that point chronologically - particularly when we get to the season finale (I'd estimate that they are two, maybe three days from the fall of Triskelion, but given that they had to fix the Bus, it could be as late as a week). I feel everyone involved (Rogers, Fury, Romanoff) need to go into hiding sooner rather than later. Also, I don't think they can go into custody with Talbot this week; they still have two more episodes to go and need to rescue Skye and stop Garrett.

Good call.

Of course, they'd probably make her an American agent for the TV show instead of a British one. Could also explain where she knows Maria Hill from --- both ex-CIA or NSA or some such.

Just finished watching the last episode, it was great specially the references (banner, widow, maria hill). Speaking of reference, is it me or most of the characters from the Avengers have already mentioned from the show except for Hawkeye.

they could subvert expectations and make him Dum Dum's grandson.

everyone would hate Triplett if he were as competent as Ward.

Maybe I saw it wrong, but I didn't notice that. I saw Blackout attempt to zap him with his blackout beam, but as it was approaching Phil, Trip hit him with another beam which broke his concentration.

Phil was shown to be thrown back by the blackout beam earlier in the episode, he was chucked a few feet back just like Simmons.
I agree with this, the second time around, as the blackout beam was approaching Phil, Tripp started firing his weapon and it slowed down the blackout beam/it never reached Phil. Then they started to beat him back.

I believe Barton got mentioned in episode 7 "The Hub" - Hand makes reference that Barton and Romanoff never have an extraction plan

All in all, a good episode. was wishing for a little more interaction between Coulson and his cellist, but I think it's nicely left open for that reconciliation (?) to happen down the road at some point. It would be nice to see her again.

And I'm not going to lie, the stuff with Ward, Skye and Koenig's fate had me biting my nails a bit :funny:

maybe hawkeye resigned from SHIELD in disgrace after he [albeit under mind control] helped loki attack the helicarrier in the avengers

The guy playing Triplett isn't much of an actor so I'm okay with him meeting his maker. Given the plethora of talented b listers and character actors I just don't understand why they hire such meh talent for some roles. was watching an episode of blacklist - which is far from a great show - and I realized that the acting talent and production values are generally much more consistent than AOS. Things have improved but not enough. Kudos to Marvel for the tie ins and the blowing up of shield. It got my attention back despite the shows flaws.

someone mentioned it earlier......but Ward and his murderous journey would make him a good WonderMan aka man of redemption
His younger or older brother in a well....being "Killed" would make his brother a nice Grim Reaper
That would be pretty awesome

Yeah but how many murders did Eric Williams commit?
He betrayed The Avengers, I don't recall any murders .

that someone was me! :woot:

You know the promos for this episode almost made it look like Ward whispered to Skye that he was a Hydra agent and then she freaked out because he locked her in a closet.

So glad that wasn't the case .

I love HYDRA Ward. So much more interesting than "good" Ward.

Makes me want to rewatch the earlier episodes to see the contrast.

They made it seem like Hawkeye is a bit of a loner in Thor and Avengers so perhaps they is why he isn't referenced as much because he doesn't socialize or talk other Shield agents that often.

I think Triplett's staying around. Having a new regular have an extended guest stay for the season before joining is exactly how new regular's are introduced in a Whedon show.

Plus they need a new Ward, since he's obviously not joining to be rejoining the team again.
