I gotta agree with everyone on Sky's acting here. That was one of the best scenes all season so far. She really sold the terror, from the realization that Ward is Hydra.

Nice to not have to put up with all the "Kill Skye/Ward!" whining anymore.:woot:

So, another week, another really awesome episode. Love how this show created a whole episode from such a throwaway line of dialogue in Avengers!

Thought this was Clark Gregg's most varied performance yet - his moments around the Cellist were heartbreaking, his return to Providence portrayed the fear and panic well, and he continues to bring a groundedness to Son of Coul that few others could.

The Cellist story was brilliantly done, if really sad. I'd love Amy Acker to become a semi-regular next season as Son of Coul fixes his life, he deserves to be happy. Blackout was a bit lame though, he just got Ghostbuster'd and boom, he's gone. I'm not even really sure what he does, and why SHIELD were amping up his power? For a show that's steered away from conventional mutation, his power seemed awfully X-Men...

Aside from that, thumbs up for the MCU references, and LOVED the interrogation scene. Tripp's legacy, Fitz/Simmons smart-ass answers, and Ward skillfully dodging Keonig were handled so well. The Ward as Hydra thing seems nailed in now, and I'm hooked as to how that will play out.

So yeah, big thumbs up from me, another strong episode, and one I could watch over and over :)

I think that's really my only issue with the Episode. That they brought back the freak of the week, and like you said, he got Ghostbuster'd. But I guess they had to get them out of the compound somehow. I just hope that they don't keep taking down one big bad every Episode now.

So although Ward needed Skye alive, do you think he would've been ready to kill her if he saw that she had discovered Koenig's body and might potentially rat him out? He might act without thinking and on the spur of the moment.

Do people think Ward does truly care for Skye? Or is that all an act?

I liked Skye scared out of her wits. Great scene there.

Blackout was exposed during an exotic radiation experiment into something called the 'Darkforce', so he was a normal human to begin with and mutated by the accident (like Banner was with his Gamma meddlings).

They stated he absorbed energy to power his own (those Darkforce blasts and so on) and he was taken down before by overloading him with energy (they used light before) but the (presumably Hydra) agents at the Fridge increased his power rather than trying to find a cure for it, so he was able to shrug off that same approach when they hit with it again. Hence the need for the amped up gamma enhanced stage lights Fitz rigged up (the Ghost Buster like ray guns) they used to overload him this time. On this occassion the overload made him literally explode. Presumably the last time it just knocked him out.

No, because that would be stupid. If it wouldn't have been for the fact that they need the data on the hard drive, I don't think he would have come back. Shield is all but gone, and Coulson's little team is no use to them anymore. All they need is the data, and only Skye can access it. He wouldn't kill her, because she was his only objective. If anything, he would have forced her to help him.

Well, since it's the only reason he didn't end up with a bullet in the face, I'd say yes. Also, didn't he b**ch about Garrett being the reason she got 2 bullets in the stomach?

I think he does have genuine feelings for Skye, so it'll be interesting to see how far he is willing to go once he realises that she knows he is Hydra.

I would guess wherever she takes them won't be the required co-ordinates for accessing the Hard Drive, so would he be willing to give her that lesson in resisting torture hinted at a couple of eps ago?

isnt the next episode where Deathlok and Ward confront Skye on the bus?

LOL @ that lie detector test. Like Black Widow couldn't have figured out the pin under your finger nail trick. She'd be able to beat that test easy.

Well, if you look at the screen, he was suspected of lying because his pupils were dilating. A pin under your fingernail doesn't help with that one.

The only reason he beat it in the end was by dodging the question and talking about Skye.

Shame, I wanted to see Oswalt cap him...

Yup, he didn't beat the machine at all, he tricked Oswalt by telling the truth regarding Skye and not answering the direct 'Are you Hydra?' question.

He could just be trying to prevent her escape by firing in front of them. Or shooting at Coulson, who's also there.

Deathlok is there so it's not like he'd have a hard time restraining her and taking her with them.

He explicitly was told not to kill her because Garrett wants her alive.

HOLY....what an amazing episode. This show has gotten so awesome.
And Ward...man...he's my favorite villain.
Blackout was great! (and likely not dead)

I actually felt sad for the SHIELD agent Ward killed. :( This show has me feeling things now!

Ha, indeed. Most of the time I just felt like "Eh". The biggest highlight always was Coulson, or when Melinda actually got to kick ass. Overall, it wasn't really a show worth following, not to me. Though of course I stuck around because of Marvel.

Then the whole Hydra thing happened and Ward turned out to be a traitor. That's when things finally got interesting. Now I actually want to know what happens next week.

Ive been saying Garrett or Ward will end up being the Grim Reaper since we found out they were bad and don't fear the reaper started that turn turn turn episode... If they make Ward Wonderman all the better, though I would guess it would be one of his his brothers.

If they did go that way, it better be Ward as the Reaper. He's nowhere near the flawed nice guy that Wonderman should be.

Also, it means the heroes can cut off his hand in the finale.

Cut off one hand, another two take its place.

You know... The Lorelei episode where she voodoos Ward and reveals his feelings for skye tell me he does... But, man they're doing a good job making evil Ward... Well evil. Not so sure anymore. I would like to think that she's his weakness and will eventually lead to his downfall... But on the other hand it would be sweet to see Coulson or May put a few rounds into him.

Isn't it interesting how Blackout's power effects - colour wise and visually were similar to the guy in the episode Repairs? What if he's not dead. What if he got sent into that same other dimension the Repairs guy is in. What if he/they find a way back....

I thought they were different except for the disappearing act.. the guy in Repairs could only teleport
This opens up the way Strucker's Satan Claw will work in the MCU

I totally hope that Red Skull is behind this, I think Skye might be his daughter.

Another great episode! Ward is a terrific villain and gets better by the episode, but he's not completely evil so his (apparent) conflict makes him very intriguing and not so one-dimensional. I'm sad to see Agent Koenig exiting the series so soon, though; he didn't appear very often but I had already developed a liking of him and his humor. I do wonder how Skye is going to deal with Ward, now that she knows the truth and are stringing him along as far as she could.

My only criticism is how Blackout was taken out; seems way too easy for a villain that is supposed to be able to kill people with a touch.

Btw, I gonna compliment Chloe Bennett in this episode. She did an unbelievable job showing the horror that she was feeling after she discovered that Ward is Hydra. I know some fans don't like her, but I think she's doing better with each passing episode, and Skye has gotten better as well.

That lie detector test was such a joke. Koenig was a horrible tester. Yeah Black Widow would figure out that pin under the fingernail trick right away. She was trained by the KGB for crying out loud.
