It's my understanding that most real world lie detector tech fails because of the interrogator rather than the equipment itself.

Koenig was there to man the base, no reason to assume he'd been fully trained in all the equipment therein. Especially since apparently EVERY SHIELD BASE is completely understaffed, often by only one or two men.

That lie detector test was such a joke. Koenig was a horrible tester. Yeah Black Widow would figure out that pin under the fingernail trick right away. She was trained by the KGB for crying out loud.

you do realize that it only worked to Ward's advantage because of his visible injuries, right? he was, literally, already in pain from the broken ribs and lacerations to his face. an uninjured person's deception would have been spotted immediately. and, of course, the dilation of his pupils also gave him away. unless Natasha can control that, she'd be in the same position as Ward. Koenig thought he was lying (he pulled a gun for ****sake. they are all just in a spot where they want to trust one another.

And Romanoff wouldn't have been able to figure that out? Ward's injuries were done to make himself look the part when he returned. They were a ruse. Romanoff would've been able to figure that out.

Koenig pulled out a gun and he continued to feed Ward EASIER questions. He kept changing the questions.

Yeah he pulled out a gun? So ****ing what?! He didn't use it. He changed his questions to basically spoonfeed Ward to get a much easier, obvious answer out of him.

Yeah I have to agree. That was way too much Ward lucking out and Koenig being stupid to allow him to once again get away with screwing them over.

Same with the Fridge guards and Hands.

Honestly its starting to get a little annoying. Making Hydra look too good and Shield like its run by a bunch of idiots that let Hydra get away with everything.

It's why I'm hoping Skye finally gets the better of Ward and deals him some hurt next ep. About time that damn traitor got taken down a peg.

My hope is that Skye used those chemicals in the closet to leave a hidden message for Coulson and co. That Ward is dirty and killed Koenig and to come find her.

That's the only reason I believe she would've gone with Ward. I think she also realizes that Ward needs her alive for now to hack the encryption on the data.

She also realistically, had no choice. She couldn't beat him hand to hand, and she's alone in the base.

As to why no-one seems to have a phone, I'm completely lost...

Maybe she didn't have it on her at the time

maybe they didn't bring their cellphones thinking the feds could track them through the phones GPS system [like was mentioned in THE INCREDIBLE HULK]

You'd think Fitz could up with something to prevent that.

Which I thought was stupid. Aren't they on the run? Why would you give your position away by giving someone a signal to track? Unless their phones have their own secure channels.

But I wish they would have shown Skye trying to call Coulson, but simply not getting anyone on the line, because Blackout sucked out all the juice in the vicinity. Leaving their phones sucked dry.

I think she left a message, but I think she used one of the digital 'windows' (that changes the view every "x" number of days) - that's what she was looking at quite intently in the bathroom

you can't be serious..... you may be taking this just a little to seriously.

Koenig's landscape-a-day picture.

She put that one together on the plane at the end.

Any phones in-built GPS can be disabled. Coming up with a routing method during any call to prevent location via cell tower triangulation and so on would be the next step in making a mobile phone (while making a call) untraceable. Skye could do that kind of thing in her sleep.

So the obvious reason for her not calling anyone while in that room is...she simply didn't have her phone on her when she went looking for Koenig and found him dead.

Ward didn't give her time to get it either when he got them out of there (she wanted to 'go grab her things' but he stopped her).

Guys with super powers, that I can buy. Skye walking around without her phone? That's freaking ludicrous. :o

Yeah the interrogation was a bit of a joke. At least Wards was. But I finally have a good feeling about the show so I'm trying not to focus on the negative. For now.

The problem with Ward's interrogation was just how quickly Koenig changes his mind. He's clearly suspicious, and Ward's readings are fluctuating. But because Ward answers a couple of insignificant questions "truthfully," Koenig instantly decides that he's trustworthy. I kind of think that he'd at least consider the possibility that Ward is mixing lies with the truth, like spies are prone to do.

Exactly. And after making such a big deal out of it, after seeing it in action, it looks like something Black Widow would be able to figure out.

I didn't get why Koenig didn't at least talk it over with Coulson."Your guy was taking some glitches for a minute.I know he's in a bad way right now,but you might want to consider I pulled a gun on him momentarily in there."

Shhhhh.... I'm slowly starting to enjoy the show. Stop pointing out the flaws.

It wouldn't bother me as much if this wasn't the 3rd time in a row Ward's gotten away with it because the people with him were too stupid to be suspicious of him, or were suspicious of him but let it go anyway because plot.

Thankfully he's finally been made by Skye so that will hopefully stop.
