Yeah um, i'm not shooting THAT high. If the film is a good 75-80, i'll be happy. I am not expecting dark knight-greatness, nor should I.

I think she might be right and this movie won't be a 9/10. Some things doens't feel right, like the genetic manipulation, lois meeting Superman before clark...

Yes, how dare they not keep doing the same things in the exact same way over and over again!

Without those changes the movie would 100% just be a remake of the first two films.

She is nitpicking because Nolan is one of the producers. She said her Superman is the TAS one; she even said JJ abrams would make her perfect Superman movie, lol. I respect her opinion, but her arguments are weak.
Her opinion seemed pretty direct to me,
To her,it doesnt look like they are making a movie about her Superman.
She isnt arguing against the film,
She is just expressing how it felt to her .

Tim Burton's Superman would have been new and different. It's possible to have a problem with changes for reasons other than them simply being changes. Like I would have hated it if Krypton didn't blow up because I feel that's too important to change, that it forms part of the identity of the character.

Yeah Flyby took too many liberties, but thankfully some of the better elements seem to have made it into MOS.

Sure it's possible but Superman is as stale as ever right now. It needs a shake up and as long as those changes are done well then they are good changes.

I've hated some changes to certain Superhero stories but I've always loved some changes. I haven't seen the film so I don't know if the changes will work but most of what I've read sound like interesting changes to freshen up a stale character that people don't love as much as they use to.

I disagree wholeheartedly that Superman is stale, and there's going to be some people who repeat that crap no matter what writers or directors do with the character. The New 52 was a pretty big change, is that stale? What exactly do they have to do the character to make him not stale? Wipe out EVERYTHING and just come up with a new character who goes by the name Superman?

I don't know if the glasses disguise is anymore ridiculous than people who know Peter Parker not being able to tell he's Spider-Man when they hear he has the same voice.

LOL, seriously?

Well, I guess they could also go the RIPD route. We see Clark walking around, but everyone else sees Marisa Miller.

Instead of Cassandra's father Lo Pan? That's not right... :oldrazz:

Yeah I get that, it's just everything she said in that first minute was like 'Where we watching the same trailer?'

I mean, it's absolutely not the same colour pallet at TDK trilogy. And what does she even mean by the colour pallet reminds her of a video game..?

I wouldn't necessarily say that Man of Steel is my idealized version of Superman, but it could be close to it.

Don't know if this has been posted, but this is by far the cleanest version of the Trailer music - "An Ideal of Hope"

I like JJ Abrams but his flyby superman sucked. Just because a director is good doesn't mean they will knock it out the park everytime.

Some Superman fans already grumble about the changes made in Man Of Steel they would of had a field day with JJ Abrams version I imagine.

Like Darren Aronofsky Batman:Year One I think it would of been a bit controversial.

Superman on film is stale, his last film split audiences and I constantly hear how lame he is from non geeks.

I'm not going to deny the possibility that a few months down the line when the excitement has worn off, I was start to see flaws.

Then again, I still love TDKR just as much as I did the first time I saw it, and that's been slated loads since.

When something fits my tastes, I can deal with flaws that other people might get hung up on. I think the same will probably be true here. :)

And the new movie still took ideas from his script...

Grant Morrison's run was awesome in my opinion. It wasn't exactly the Superman that people are used to but it was still faithful. I'm not married to the idea of the boyscout so it was cool.

Hi, I have a video in 16:9 (unwatermarked except for the apple of itunes trailers) which combines some elements of the first teaser trailer and some elements of the comic-con trailer (MQ and a little blury) resized to fit 16:9.

I tried to replace some elements with the corresponding ones of the last trailer, but I have no skill in video editing (I lost 5 hours triyng to do it for nothing).

Is there someone interested in doing it ? I can upload the video from the comic-con.

I think the genetic manipulation angle is brilliant. Especially with all the choice themes floating around. And it also makes sense that an advanced race would resort to such things, whereas a child born out of love is something special on principle alone.

I also do admit that abrams get's a bad rap for flyby, not that the script wasn't wack, but it's not right for abrams to get all the brunt for that. When in the same breath Bay get's all the flack for the writing in transformers. People just pick and choose who to blame based on how high profile someone is it seems.

Yep. I much as I dislike the destiny stuff, if they play that up, then it won't be a huge deal. I mean I like Smallville despite it's massive flaws.

Same here :cmad:
I'm not suprised you hear it too. I asked my 18 year old nephew about the film and he said it looks okay I guess but Superman has always been kinda lame.

Warners does have to make the character look cool to the general audience again because we haven't had a proper update.
MOS looks to be doing that by giving us an awesome (imho) updated live action costume, a bad ass Superman who punches things, a modern look (Returns largely featured the semi 30's look of the original films) and a new theme and no connection to the original films by way of CGI Brando or Krystal Kryptin.

I have finally watched the Trailer to the movie. Looks good. Well I don't know what to think but there is no Kryptonite in Man of Steel. I also want to see if there will be the Superman theme music... Im not joking but I want it in the movie so badly

So I finally watched that Grace video. I turned it off with a few minutes to go, but basically, she thinks she's been able to glean absolutely everything about MOS from the trailers we received, and it's going to be a dark, heavy-handed Jesus allegory with fake-looking action sequences. Oh, and if you like it, you're apparently a raging, rabid Nolan fanboy a**hole who doesn't understand the character.

I apologize for this post, it was rude and dismissive and I just got on Terry78's ass for being flat dismissive of my opinions. I wouldn't want to be a hypocrite.

Yeah that was the problem with Superman Returns: it didn't convert the naysayer; it just reenforces their beliefs that Superman is lame/boring/whatever. I'm not saying that it should be contrieved, like Superman sporting a baseball cap, but relevant and universally appealing without losing his classiness. I hope MoS will deliever that, and it looks like it will.
