Yep, they must have made that a high priority from the get-go. To have Superman be super once and for all. To finally be able to show just what he could do onscreen with todays FX as well as to make up for too many missed opportunities.

Agreed; even with all of today's effects, there really hasn't been anyone with Superman's abilities for audiences to really see on what it'd be like to witness them at their finest. The closest that we got was "Hancock".lol

Showing what a badass that Superman can be while getting audiences to care about him emotionally once more should be the main priorities of MOS imho.

I'd definitely agree that they will be making a point of 'there is quite a bit of actual action in this movie'. And like I said, it's Synder... it'll look great :)

I'm just saying I don't think Avengers major action sequences will hurt MOS's appeal, because along with action, MOS is offering a 'tone' that appeals to those who liked BB and TDK.

Oh I definitely agree that the action sequences wont effect MOS as each year there are big sequences in blockbusters and they don't effect the next years event movies. I mean The Avengers finale battle has drawn a lot of comparisons with Transformers, but I don't see it affecting the anticipation or appeal.

TDK and BB were not heavy with action and they did well.

With The Avengers coming soon I have to ask, will the success of The Avengers effect future CBMs, negatively or positively?

It'll be a great film for sure, but I doubt it'll make fans and non-fans go:

"Yeah, that was badass... but it didn't have an epic battle like The Avengers had."

To me, Superman is a one man army (combination of Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America), so it's purely up to how the director utilizes Superman's abilities.

The Avengers' successes shouldn't effect other CBMs. I know TDK didn't.

I just had a cool idea in terms of sequel(s) even though we know only bits of what MOS is about: Synder directing a battle scene between Superman and Doomsday; Synder directing both a Nolan-written with great dialogue scene and a his stylized fight scene between Superman and Darkseid. :D

That's actually on-topic. :oldrazz:

As long as it has something to do with Superman then it's not off topic.

That's because I posted this twice, and the photo thread was the first. Anyways...

According to the early reviews the final battle is positively glorious and absolutely dwarfs not only previous Marvel studio efforts but anything in the genre. Keep in mind this is gushed out by legit reviewers and not impulsive fanboys. I get the shakes just thinking about it.

I fear that other CBMs, including Bats and Supes, might appear quite miniscule compared to whatever TA dishes out.

well visually imo superman can do much grander things than anyone in the avengers

Definitely. Marvel > DC.

Avengers is a massive event built over several films. MoS will inevitably be on a much, much smaller scale.

If The Avengers is going to affect anything, it's Justice League. That's it.

BTW, am'I the only one who thinks that DC SHOULDN'T do what Marvel is doing, and instead come up with something unique on their own to do a Justice League film. Example: if it is stand-alone and not interconnected like their films are and have been, then make it effective and work to the point, among other things, that you can have two examples on how to do a superhero team film based on an large universe and make it work.

And instead of Avengers, why not X-Men as an example? People seem to forget that X-Men have ALOT of characters and their stories that probably would take alot of movies just to explain, and yet they manage to have balanced in all of their films (well, except for 1-2 of them but the point remains).

That may very well be, but Batman isn't about being visuals/SFX, epic-scale battles, and super-powers. If that were the case, TDK would have been eclipsed by Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in 2008.

What makes Nolan's films incredible successful is his dialogue, casting, storytelling and subtext.

Justice League would have to be a standalone if it ever happened.

MoS and Batman are in their own seperate universes.
