Since we've gone TASK FORCE X, aka The Suicide Squad crazy here I'd like to share and idea I've had for a few years now for the comic book version (though in my mind it's for a DCU closer to the pre-New 52, so... yeah).
Basically I would see the Squad in classic form, with Waller at the top and Flagg jr. as the field commander, only to see it slowly ripped apart because of the inclusion of something from left field that isn't the usual espionage element the book usually has. In a nutshell, after a battle with the JLA, Vandal Savage is brought into Belle Reve. Some small peice of wisdom or info he drops into Waller's lap turns out to be incredibly helpful, and Waller decides to put Savage on the Task Force... sort of. She promises him better living quarters and privileges ect. if he helps the Squad. She can't threaten the immortal Savage with death after all (and scientists are studying him to find out exactly how that works) but she can make his time in incarceration pleasant or a nightmare. Savage agrees, and for a bit is sort of like a Hannibal Lecter character for the team. A man of incredible knowledge and 10,000 years of experience whose advice and insights can mean all the difference. But of course Savage really wants out, but as an immortal he also is very patient. Slowly he starts manipulating things from inside his cell, and he even manages to fix things so as to eliminate certain Squad members so as to get others on, who are actually being paid or are loyal to him so that eventually when the time is right, they can free him. the line up would be something like this, with lots of deaths to open up spots along the way to the conclusion.
