Unless they seriously revamp Doomsday; then there's nothing really interesting about him. All visual and no substance whatsoever...he's like the personification of what a Michael Bay film is like.

Doomsday seems more like a terminator film(complete with mini crater landing) than the 'crude humor' bay's films are seemingly known for involving...

That's true.

That's also true.

I'd love to see Brainiac and Darkseid too, and it would be great if we didn't have to wait until 2017 to get at least one of them. If I had a choice, I'd put Brainiac in this movie with Lex and Darkseid in JL. I understand how you feel towards Metallo, but I'm wondering if a henchman type villain is necessary because so much time will be spent on exploring characters like Superman, Batman, Lex, etc. I think we might need one basic villain that doesn't need a lot of backstory. Kinda like Rhino in TASM2.

Yea I think I'm getting more comfortable with Metallo if they end up having someone being the string puller. Most comic book movies have it like that anyway. Someone like Lex or Braniac hinted at towards the end for JL or another Sequel.

Like, I'm not a huge fan of the "Lex Luthor and a super powered second villain for the muscle" formula. I think it's a little bit too stock and it feels like the kind of thing one would think of before they sat down to write the story, and I feel like the characters should flow naturally from what the story really requires. Also I think Lex should be the sole focus plot-wise and the threat should some from what he's capable of, not from others. And to be completely honest, I think the notion that a Superman movie needs a one on one super powered fist fight to be good is a complete myth. But if we're going to go that way, which it seems pretty obvious we are, Metallo at least is a pretty natural and interesting choice.

I just think that, in order to do Lex Luthor correctly, he needs to have an arc. From self-appointed savior of metropolis genius businessman, to half-crazed, Superman-hating Kryptonite wielding villain.

You set Lex up for that in this movie by him instantly mistrusting Superman, out of jealousy or fear or what have you(preferably jealousy, it's more interesting). So you have him create Metallo for protection. Like in the animated series sort of.

Metallo goes rogue, tries to outright kill Superman publicly, Superman defeats him, learns that Lex was responsible(preferably from Batman's investigations into LexCorp), but can't prove that he was, and you've instantly set up the hatred between Superman and Lex perfectly.

That way you have the action and physically dangerous villain threat, but also the finally done correctly Lex and the underlying threat Lex presents.

And you get an interesting dynamic of a guy like John Corben talking to Superman with his chest open revealing his Kryptonite heart as he's punching Superman around.

Mamoa for Richard White!

It would also show Lex's genius if he created something like Metallo. I'm sure we'll see his genius regardless, but I've always found Metallo to be a testament to Lex's skills when it comes to things like that.

One of the things I think that made me like Rosenbaum as Lex so much was how it turned from friendship, to distrust, to hate, to going head to head. It was an emtoional explosion of badassery

Damn, I haven't watched Smallville in so long. I forgot about that aspect. It was great.

Yea the two things I loved from that show were the Lex Luthor and Clark and Lois relationship. I hope we get a Lex like that. Maybe not friends but the distrust and hate need to develop so when it comes to a climax it's an epic moment we've all been waiting for.

So do you think Lex should try to get Superman to be an ally first? Like he genuinely wants to work together, or just to have Superman under his thumb?

C'mon... You know you want to see Jason as Lucy making out with Josh Duhamel as Jimmy.

Sir, iz you on drugz? You on dem drugz, sir. :o

You laugh why I die a little inside.

Man I don't know but I think I'd prefer it to develop over time so when that moment comes it's epic. I know I remember feeling bad when Lex and Clark decided to call it a quits because they were legit friends but they were destined enemies. And towards the end the hate and betrayal was super awesome. If that can be developed over into this superman i'd be happy. IDK how to work it all out though lol.

It'd be super lame to see another Kryptonian so soon but Mamoa would make a good H'el.

I do sorta like that kind of Lex. But I don't think that's what I want this time. I want a Lex that is pure evil. Superman knows this, but no one else does.

When I heard he was in talks the first thing i thought of was Vandal Savage.

Yeah, however their relationship is, that development is vital.

I want a corrupt Lex too, hope they go that route.

H'el yes. :woot:

Either way I'll be glad to see Lex in this film because I don't think they'll be doing the same Luthor that we got in the past movies. I'm hoping for someone around Clarks age or slightly older. No more Hackman or Spacey

I just can't see Mamoa as Lex so that leaves... Corben, some antagonist for Batman to handle?

Indeed. No old man Lex. I think he should be mid-40's at the oldest. He could be someone who has climbed the corporate ladder very quickly using devious means. But of course, he's sly enough to hide that...until now.
