I'm glad they didn't cut the reporter persona out completely in Man of Steel. I look forward to seeing reporter Clark meet billionaire Bruce Wayne and figure out he's Batman. and of course throw Wonder Woman in there too

Exactly. Which is all part of the Superman mythos still.

Hey, Showtime.

Do you have any idea which character Momoa may be playing?

Clark is not a reporter as shown in MOS. Lois is the reporter. She should be the one doing the real investigating.

Huh?

He was not a reporter during the events of the film, but it ended with him joining the Daily Planet. He will be a reporter in this new film and he possesses certain...skills which Lois lacks. He will be a great reporter/investigative journalist, I'm sure.

Truth be told, we've seen Clark as a reporter for the DP in 5 films already (as well as a few television series), and MOS ended with Clark becoming a reporter at the DP. Therefore, he will be a reporter in this new film and we will see that part of his life. I'm not exactly sure what some people want or wished for?

I'm glad to see them tread new ground this time (as they are doing with Clark meeting Batman and potentially others).

It's not so much Clark being a reporter that I'm talking about but him actually using that profession of his to investigate and uncover stuff as a investigative reporter rather than coming across it as Superman.

Clark being a reporter and using that profession to help solve whatever the main plot was for that given film has never really happened yet.

Yes, but Perry called him a stringer, which means he's nothing more than a freelance writer. He does not have the skills Lois has, which was why Perry asked them to look after him.

What better way for him to use his profession than to discover the true identity of the Batman? Or to uncover the truth about Lex Luthor's motives with Batman's help? Do those possibilities not even excite you in the least as a Superman fan?

It would help if he had expressed an interest in journalism before he got the job. I felt like he only took it because he would be near Lois and would be able to use it to hear about disasters as they happen. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but I personally would have preferred him to have an interest in the career independent of Lois and his second job.

Aquaman is awesome.

He's a Warrior King. WARRIOR KING!!! How can that not be badass?

I hate how people think that communicating with sea creatures is lame. Just imagine alien aircrafts hovering over the ocean shooting at civilians. All of a sudden, giant Killer Whales jump out of the water and tear them apart. That would be cool.

Not even just that, but sea creatures that we didn't even know existed from the deepest depths of the ocean coming to his aid. And even creatures long thought to be extinct.

Him being a stringer/freelancer simply means that while he will earn money for his writing/reporting, he's not a full-time employee who earns a steady salary...yet. Stringers can be useful to a newspaper for a variety of reasons. They are still journalists.

Plus, who knows if Clark will have been hired full-time between the events of MOS and this new film? He'd only need a few solid months to prove himself. Yes, Lois has skills as a reporter, but let's not forget Clark has skills too. He's not much of a dumbie since, ya know, he's Superman and all.

It does, but that's only if it actually happens in the film. Truth be told, there's no guarantee that the film will even have time to focus on any of that with the amount of DC heroes that are being rumored or are confirmed in this film, and we don't even know if Lex is really a villain in this film at all.

This film could be about something else entirely that wouldn't allow any room for that investigation stuff and would Clark really need to investigate Batman in order to learn his identity when he could simply just use X-ray to uncover it?

You're right, I was proposing hypothetical situations, but my point still stands. It seems you're worried that this new film will just throw away just about everything that MOS established and I doubt that will be the case. It wouldn't make sense for them to end the film with Clark working for the DP and then ignore it in the next film.

In terms of what this new movie will be able to focus on, I refer you to my long-winded post from 2 pages back which addresses that concern:

I don't see how they exclude Clark working at the Planet. We know Perry is coming back…kind of means we'll see some Daily Planet scenes.

We need characters like Perry, Alfred, Lois and Steve Trevor.

The perspective of the everyday human is an important thing in a film populated by gods, aliens and pinnacles of human knowledge and conditioning.

Agreed, and I think the filmmakers understand this, as well. This isn't going to be just a superhero ****show.

I do want a scene at the Planet establishing that Clark has been in his status quo for a period of time. (Have his first appearance in the movie be him at work and having to leave to go stop a simple crime or whatever.)

But I don't need this movie to give me an entire storyline about Clark the reporter.

My only problem with Clark actually having a day job is that it feels a bit ridiculous that a super powered alien with the ability to stop so many bad things happening in the world takes a large portion of his time investigating things as a journalist. Sure he needs his time off but in this "real world" setting there would be constant horrible things going on where Superman should be stepping in. How is it justified in the MOS universe.

That being said i will always love the traditional character of Superman and Reporter Clark Kent.

I don't have high hopes that this movie will show any more than one quick scene to say "hey! Clark's a reporter!" that has no other significance. But I always wanted to see him act like an investigative reporter in a movie. I always wanted an entire storyline about that. His investigations could have been related to the main plot somehow, like he could uncover how corrupt Luthor is or something.

I look forward to you being proven wrong.
