To be fair, they were going for more of a Secret Society vibe, with Grodd being so prominent.

I loved the times Aquaman was on the show though. The episode with the faux Superfriends character is great, and I loved the "DEFENDERS" shout out ep with DR. FATE (Dr. Strange), AQUAMAN (Namor), HAWKGIRL (Valkyrie), GRUNDY (Hulk) and the show's version of AMAZO (Silver Surfer). Great stuff.

But Grodd is in the Legion of Doom too. I see what you mean, however.

I don't think enough was done with that DC Defenders team. "Wake the Dead" was a pretty fun episode. I liked how they used Vixen.

I think you are looking for the two parter where Lex puts a team together with Shade, Cheetah, Grundy ect and Joker horns in on the action. I think Gabrielle Union (what happened to her?) voiced Cheetah IIRC.

so that's why Black Manta was called Manta Ray or Death Ray or something like that..

That JLU season had the Legion of Doom, and neither Riddler or Scarecrow could show up.

Nothing was as useless and annoying as that Aquaman embargo, though.

I miss it every day, lol...those DTV's just aren't the same. I would actually like to see an animated movie showing us where the JLU members are now.

Can someone explain what this "Bat embargo" was?? Why would they embargo Timm's favorite character

"The Batman" cartoon was on at the time. WB thought having Batman villains on two different shows (with different continuities) would confuse people, so they banned Bat villains and supporting cast from appearing in JLU.

Aquaman got it worse. Because the "Mercy Reef" pilot was in development, they banned Aquaman from being in JLU. They had to rename Black Manta "Devil Ray" because of it.

Not Batman, but his sidekicks, villains and supporting characters. It's no skin off my nose. It was a Justice League show. I don't need to know what's up with Alfed or Tim Drake while watching it. I came to see Batman working alongside Supes and Wondy et al.

Blue Beetle was also weirdly absent in the JLU. Strange considering Captain Atom was in there as well as Booster Gold.

Was there some sort of contract or license keeping him from appearing?

Not Batman, but his sidekicks, villains and supporting characters. It's no skin off my nose. It was a Justice League show. I don't need to know what's up with Alfed or Tim Drake while watching it. I came to see Batman working alongside Supes and Wondy et al.

Yeah it didn't affect Batman that much. But it still would have been cool to see the Justice League tackle villains like Ra's Al Ghul, Poison Ivy or Clayface.

It was kind of ingenious how Timm found a way to give us over a decade of cartoons in the same continuity. I wish they'd make a new show.

Green Lantern could have been awesome, though I would have preferred it if it wasn't CG animated. Though I think that bombed hard because it was dependent on the success of the movie.

It was apparently the reason she couldn't guest star in "Batman Beyond", which is why they used Barda. But what HighFlying says might be the reason why she could appear on BATB

Yeah, a lot of CN shows haven't been updated or put on Netflix yet. I'm still waiting on the rest of the seasons of Ed, Edd, n Eddy!
