Dafuq is going on here?

I hope so.
I don't want to see the happy go-lucky boy scout per se.
But I really want the citizens of Metropolis to see more of the MoS Superman who makes lighthearted remarks about lifesavers and smiles with that charismatic warm smile and takes joy in the wonder of his powers and most importantly saves humans in spectacular ways.
We got a small taste of that in MoS. Now I want to see a lot more.
It's not that people would know he was a super powered alien...it's that people would know he was different than they were. In the scene it looked to be 20-30 people under the overpass....and while they probably weren't focused on Pa or Clark I am willing to bet they were focused on the tornado...which Pa was right in front of.
You know, now that I think about it... wouldn't have Pa Kent been swept up earlier and not just simply "vanish" in the wind?

That's my problem. Ask any bystanders of things from car accidents to natural disasters to terrorist incidents and 9 out of 10 chances they won't be able to give you any details about anything that happened because they're too focused on staying safe. When that self preservation instinct kicks in you get immediate tunnel vision.
IMO all they needed in that scene, right before he turns to his dad that final time, is to have one of the kids next to Clark scream something like "Save him. I know what you can do." Then have other people looking at Clark to see what he would do.
Again, connective tissue. It's not a big change and the scene stays the same. But it takes away the ambiguity of "if" someone sees him to "yes, people will see him."
Hah yeah definitely. But I don't think they wanted to go the Twister route. Would have looked better though
Down boy.
Would anyone like Kara to appear as well?![]()

Also according to the experts running to an overpass is one of the worst things you can do in a tornado.
It's the equivalent of hiding under your school desk in case of a nuclear attack

I agree. The stakes needed to feel higher. He WILL be outed if he takes action, not "might" be outed.
Like you, I get the point of the scene though so I don't think it's some abomination to the mythos. It just could have felt a little smoother, especially for such a critical moment.
Buddy, you do know you're supposed to hide in fridges, right?

It wouldn't have been dramatic for him to be pulled up like a ragdoll.
He has to stop, stare and vanish.... goooo the distance.

I'm not a screenwriter but if I had a crack at rewriting that scene I would have made it more like the death of Gwen Stacy death. Have Clark speed and strength to grab and protect him but in the end he doesn't make it. That mirrors the comics storyline where, even though he's powerful, he can't save everyone.
Go back and watch that scene...everyone under the under pass is looking at Jonathan...Martha screams his name...Clark looks at the people and takes a step to save his father...he knows he is about to be revealed to a large group of people.
Maybe he could have explained it as being on an adrenaline high.
According to the Book of Henry Jones Jr. that is the definitive way to save yourself from a nuclear blast. Amen.
The death was not about how he can't save everyone...that death was about Pa not believing the world and/or Clark was ready to be revealed.
Imagine the music from that scene, but with him yelling.
It's kinda like Lois not being sucked into the black hole, but falling straight down.
There's a science website that figured out that you could survive a nuclear blast in a fridge...just not the flying 50 feet.

I dunno....narratively, I like the idea of the choice of sacrifice.
