I think for the DCU to thrive, they're going to have to embrace the fantasy and ditch the Nolan-esque "dark and gritty" realism. This isn't a knock on the Nolan movies, but they're standalone for a reason--the rest of the DCU doesn't fit in his world.

Flash and WW deserve their own movies, but to do so, I think it's a mistake to try to shoehorn them into the Nolan style. MoS tried too hard to emulate it, IMO, and it was weakest when it went down that road. If the story is good, it won't matter if it has a lot of fantasy elements or not. People will come.

Yes. What we need is "DCAU" style for lack of a better word.

Wow, that sounds like a plan :yay:
thanks if you want to check them out again I fixed with the inclusion of MOS3
Wonder Woman 2016
Flash or Flash vs Green Lantern end of 2015/2016
Justice League 2017 (Superman, Batman, Wondy, Green Lantern,MM (leaving the General Swanwick becoming Martian Manhunter to change a little bit its origin, and possibly Cyborg)
Man of steel 3 Solo movie 2018
Batman Solo movie 2018
Trinity (Superman, Batman and Wondy vs Atlanteans and introduction of Aquaman) that could be in exchange of Aquaman solo movie... 2019
Shazam 2019
JL 2 (with Shazam and Aquaman properly introduced)
2020
Aquaman Solo Movie 2021
Green Lantern Solo movie 2021

depends on the succes of the movies, the possible sequels will be happening...

The trend, in my experience, is for less coherent narratives when there are too many characters. Star trek into darkness is a good example, with its two villains, one villain too many. Man of steel, likewise, wasted too much time on jor el.

But more compelling might be more apt than more coherent.
really? I thought Jor-el had the enough time cause it was about Kal's origin and he was the bridge between the past and the villains of Superman from MOS..
the way MOS handled two villains (or the kryptonians as the main threat) I really liked that way.. I mean like the right dose...

what I'd like to know is, what's the deal with DC entertainment? is it is own thing? as in, is it WB's version of disney's marvel studios? if it is, what is it that's keeping diane nelson from developing some of these other projects? either something is holding them back, or there's a lack of foresight there.

They need a Kevin Feige-type person to oversee the project. I don't think you can do a connected universe without a person like him.

her name is diane nelson. from the looks of it though, she doesn't appear to have the foresight of feige.

THR: If it were up to you, what five characters or titles would you like to see on the screen?
Nelson: Sandman is right on top. I think it could be as rich as the Harry Potter universe. Fables. Metal Men. Justice League. And yes, I'm going to say it: Aquaman.

I think they should let James Tucker (current supervisor of DC animation) guide the live action movies in terms of tone and from a franchise perspective.

I think they're just meticulously planning and putting a lot of foresight into their projects. I mean these are the same people that brought Green Lantern. They don't want to repeat history and they're scared to. As well as that, these guys changed the game with Nolan's Bat Trilogy, so trying to live up to that is a challenge.

Plus didn't they say that they know stuff the general public do not know? A good example is how tightly under wraps BatFleck was. I mean right after Man of Steel wrapped up all the way back in January they signed him.

they tried to dark night green lantern. that's lack of foresight. they also let nolan do whatever he wanted, which is fine, but it was pretty clear that he didn't want anything to do with returns and gl. that's not having foresight. they should be given credit for not being as predictable and making films based on comics that aren't the norm like jonah hex, the losers, watchmen, etc, but that'ss where the credit stops.

well, they should know stuff that the public doesn't know. they're dc.

if they had any sort of a plan, we would have at least gotten the flash, WW, right after mos. and at the moment, all they have to show is rumors and tv shows.

I would rather david goyer bein charge than the other people at DC:

- Green lantern movie was awful, it was like a clinic in awful. It makes man of steel look like the Godfather.
- A lot of DCAU movies are boring, for example emerald Knights.
- I am watching justice league animated series lately. It is just plain dumb relative to MoS and the Nolan batman movies.
- The new 52 is a fiasco. Why is superman dating wonder woman? Also, the batwoman issue.

No, DC Entertainment does not produce any motion pictures. They don't have the same powers delegated to them that Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar have at Disney, or even New Line has at Warner Brothers.

In terms of Kevin's role, as in he helps briefly organise the structure of the universe? Sure, why not? Writing films? No thanks.

How is this the fault of DC, when they don't have any creative input?

They're not DCAU, but I agree pretty much, the genuinely original ones aren't very good.

It's a children's animation, what do you expect?

- The new 52 is a fiasco. Why is superman dating wonder woman?
The New 52 is not a "fiasco" it's the third major reboot of DC, it's no more a "fiasco" than the transition to the Silver Age, or Modern Age. Superman and Wonder Woman are dating because it's something DC has been flirting with or decades, not to mention it's providing fresh story material as opposed to the same status quo that has existed near enough non-stop since 1986.

Also, the batwoman issue.
Also, there is no "Batwoman issue" Didio just doesn't want characters married yet, everyone is essentially still "young". Not to mention, it's inconsequential to the story, as the main argument people used for their marriage was Aquaman's marriage to Mera, until Geoff said they're not married, everyone just assumed they were.

well, that's the crux of the matter.

They didn't try to "Dark Knight" Green Lantern. They tried to make GL into their own version of Iron Man, and failed miserably.

I still find it hard at times in knowing that the guy that directed Green Lantern is the same person that directed films like Goldeneye, Casino Royale, and The Mask of Zorro.

Green lantern is the most comprehensive failure of a film I have seen in many years. There is no one thing that went wrong with that movie - everything went wrong. It was ugly, boring, poorly cast, full of plot holes, etc.

The exception: blake lively looked hot, but for that I can watch gossip girl, which is more competent, though I do not actually watch it.

Uh, they started courting him back in January. Affleck didn't sign on the dotted line until the day of the late August announcement.

Something that big would've leaked to either Toldja, the other trades, or even Umberto had Affleck committed far earlier than that.

http://www.batman-on-film.com/BvS_rumor_new-Batmobile-a-Cadillac_10-22-13.html

So, it seems that the new Batman -- which of course will be played by Ben Affleck in 2015's BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN -- might be a Cadillac man. "Dr. Detroit" is back with what could be a pretty good scoop about what we should expect to see Affleck's Dark Knight driving in BvS...

"The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for TRANSFORMERS 4 with Michael Bay – who was very hands-on and involved in the design/building process for the new Bumblebee Camaro. Anyway, back to the new Batmobile…
It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight Trilogy.’

As of about four weeks ago, it was still “pictures on the wall” – meaning nothing had actually been built yet.

An “old Cadillac” will feature prominently in the film. When I remarked to my source that the Cadillac Sixteen concept car from a few years back looked a lot like a Batmobile, he stayed mum.

Now this is pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if this “old Cadillac” be the new Batmobile? Perhaps one is being retrofitted to be Batman’s ride in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN? There are some interesting "old Cadillac" concept cars, including cars from the '40's, '50's, and '70s (I've attached pictures of some) that somewhat resemble various previous iterations of the Batmobile from comic books, television, and film. In recent years, there have also been several Cadillac concept cars (like the Aera and Thorium Fuel concepts) that fit the bill of a high-tech, supercar-style Batmobile (with some Bat-themed modifications, of course). After all, basing a Batmobile on an old concept car has precedent as the '1966 Batmobile' from the 60s BATMAN TV series was based on the 1955 Lincoln Futura.

But the most likely interpretation, in my opinion, of the "old Cadillac" hinted at, would be very literal. In the very first Batman serial in 1943, a Cadillac convertible served as Bruce Wayne's daily driver (when the top was down), and The Batmobile (when the top was up). Perhaps this vehicle will be in BvS as part of Bruce Wayne's personal collection and an easter egg to the 1943 serial?"

Well, some of the performances were good. Mark Strong, Geoffrey Rush, and Michael Clarke Duncan were all really good. And some of the effects were nice, especially the Oa scenes.

I will say whatever I want about Snyder as a screenwriter/director, but I have zero doubt that he will deliver on the batsuit and batmobile.
