not complaining about punching itself, just that it can get boring/repetitive if there's no variety.

of course, that's largely due to Superman's power set. He is more of a power/brawler character. He doesn't use magic/mind powers/etc., which can afford more creativity.

fortunately, Supes does have access to other powers, and that's what I want to see more of in the sequels.

he was just a beginner in MOS. now, he'll be much more comfortable with flight, heat vision, super speed, etc. and using them in combat.

People realize that Clark had never fought even once before right? If anything, Zod should have been a much better fighter and strategist since....you know...it's what he was born to do.

The circumstances present somewhat evened it out. This is moreso evident with Superman vs Faora. That being said, this is zod within minutes of learning his powers. His warrior skills no doubt evened it out.

I personally think superman should have used more heat vision, especially in space.

I feel like if you really think the final battle in MAN OF STEEL (or any of the battles in MAN OF STEEL, honestly) was just a bunch of punching with no variety...that you really did not watch said battles closely. At all.

The Smallville fight is good.

I try not to say anything cause I love both characters Cap and Supes(Supes way more)....but it really does piss me off when they say Cap was a better hero then Superman in MOS......

Judging by reactions, all Supes needs to do is say "Clear the area" once to be seen as a protector who cares about the lives of others.

Equally frustrating is that I see people not batting an eye to Captain America killing (while some call him the boy scout), whereas when Superman does it to save lives, it means he's a ****** hero.

I love both MOS and TWS, but it's disgusting to see this huge double standard.

The funny thing is that he did say that. Particularly in the Battle of Smallville when he told people to get out of the road, and how it wasn't safe.

I personally find it interesting how people would constantly cite the avengers to convey what cap(in particular) does to prevent the loss of life during a battle in contrast with what superman did in MOS.

Never once taking into considering the context of having a capable team(in TA & TWS) or a terminator like villain constantly engaging and beating you....
Safe to say cap in the winter solider battles, behaved in the same 'evil give a care' manner(whilst death and destruction followed), as superman, only with a fraction of the stakes, and with tons of experience under his belt to boot.

That being said, that only pertains to the folks that harped on that stuff. I'd imagine most other people always had an appreciation of circumstance and source material.

I don't think it's "complaining" to discuss things you didn't like about a movie.

Or maybe we should call movie critics "movie complainers" instead?:woot:

My point is, anyone who has ever read a comic book--in particular a Superman comic book--knows that the majority of battles that take place involve a lot of punches being thrown. You may find it boring in a movie, but it's true to the character. The Death of Superman story was pretty much 10 or so issues of Superman and Doomsday beating the crap out of each other.

Complaints (or criticisms) about Superman throwing punches in a Superman movie is like ripping Captain America for constantly relying on throwing his shield when he could just as easily pick up one of the million guns SHIELD has lying around.

Yeah, it bugs me too. I loved TWS, but I don't understand how the people who tore MOS to shreds for the destruction at the end of the film can then completely ignore Cap's decision to
shoot down three flying AIR CRAFT CARRIERS over Washington, DC and hope that they all miraculously land safely in the Potomac (or hope they don't kill any non-Hydra SHIELD agents when they crashed down upon that huge facility).

This......I get that they didn't like MOS but when they say stuff like he didn't care or he's a murderer, when you clearly see what he had to do, and the impact it had on him to do that....they're just hating just to hate....smh

There's just a lot of hypocrisy and double standards. Some just hate Superman, so they will use anything they can against him. Then some fans, are just fans of the "perfect boy scout" the general audience finds boring... but despite all this, people prefer buying MOS DVDs/BRs than IM3, and the film keeps winning the polls:

Thank you for your honesty. ;)

If this is genuine thanks, no problem. I wish other people would acknowledge what their opinion is and what flaws are contained within it. A criticism of something you like is not a personal attack against you.

And how you would have done it? Less graphic? At least Snyder has the courage to do hard scenes unlike the competition.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Goyer and Snyder had months to write in that scene, so I doubt I could come up with something better in minutes.

As I said before, I'd have restructured the final act and had the World Engine/Black Zero tackled after Zod. If I'm just simply redirecting the scene as is, I think perhaps instead of just snapping his neck as brutally as done, it should have been a slow build up of tension, as Clark pushes against Zod's head, he struggles to focus his vision on the family, and like an elastic band stretched too far, the tension is released

As for the competition, Sony have a rather distressingly brutal scene in the upcoming Spider-Man film.

rational people don't whine about it when it happens.

Well, that happened in a smaller area of land and didn't really involve innocent people. So, that was probably a factor.
