I'm fine with Momoa as Aquaman. I think he can bring a huge presence to the role and make a warrior king out of the character that can stop stereotyping him.

As for the other posts in this thread:

You want to see him challenged as an actor but are perfectly fine with him being replaced....okay then...

If Cavill wanted to leave the role, I am okay with that - sure, why wouldnt I be? Maybe he feels he wants to broaden his scope when it comes to roles? But either way it really does come down to what he wants. As a Superman fan, I'm okay with whatever he decides.

That's fine. I don't take it personally if you don't like him. You just seem to contradict yourself a lot.

Memes are voluntary brain damage, short-circuiting higher thought processes with copy and paste, because these people view thinking as unpleasant homework and they'd rather copy it off the Internet. They've become a vehicle for regurgitating things they've seen before, the textual equivalent of the winter vomiting bug. And about as fun to spend time with.

As for the recent casting rumor, I like Momoa so I support this.

I think Momoa is okay, but I really want to see Aquaman like he is in the comics - so that means I want blonde hair, and the bright suit. I hope they wont be using muted tones in the film?

Its a Snyder film so the tones will be stylized like in all of his other films.

Hi Beige Lantern! I'm a huge fan of your work.

What are you hoping to see Marvolo? I want the costumes to at least look similar to what they do in the comics! I hope they ditch that whole 'lets imagine this was in a real world context' stuff.

It'll be like the comics, but probably more like this version of Aquaman.

Just a reminder for everyone here that, if needed, there is an option to ignore specific posters on the site.

The mos suit is still obviously a superhero suit even if the movie was less saturated than people wanted and the bat suit is closer to the comics than it's ever been. I don't think realism has taken all the comics out if the costumes for this movie.

When it comes to the casting, comic fans seem to fall into two camps; "They'll be great" or "They'll be horrible".
What if they're... passable? Isn't that a likely outcome?

I rarely seem to hear people say an actor or actress was...okay or good enough. Either they're really good or they're bad.
Personally, unless someone is really, really, obviously bad, I won't really notice.
I think if the script is solid, the average movie goer is going to be fine with these casting choices.

You're guaranteed to get some badass fight scenes.

I have zero doubts about Snyder offering some amazing fight scenes but unfortunately artistic shots/smattering of FX only goes so far. What really matters is a script which focuses upon character, not filled with one-dimensional characters like we often see in Snyder's work. Its why so many people felt the FX scenes in Man of Steel were overlong (bland/dull was a common criticism) because it wasn't balanced by the screenplay which fleshed out the development of the characters.

I appreciate that you're trying to save us all from potential doom.....

.... but, God, what a boring idea. Back to the drawing board, Kev. :o

That's how I feel about Momoa. I think he'll be okay.

The things is most I think that's the main mentality of most people about Momoa's casting, but some people tend to be louder than others.

That's a well balanced viewpoint that is true for every actor who isn't Channing Tatum.
