Just got back from Gone Girl. If people still doubt whether Affleck can act after this movie, I don't know what to say to them anymore. Rosamund Pike was amazing in the movie though.

For some reason, I really want Rosamund Pike as Vicki Vale.

To me she looks just like the Arkham City Vicki.

Someone shouted "BATFLECK" in my theater :funny:.

Stated your opinion on something that I haven't seen yet.

So Goyer said Constantine is the third most popular comic book character behind the World Finest.

Anyone believe that or got anything on that?

I love Constantine but Goyer's off his head if he thinks that's true.

Its not just a question of acting but whether a person is right for a certain role or not.

I dont believe Goyer and he is inaccurate when he says that.

Well I don't rate my characters by popularity. So I think it would be alright if he simply said that John Constantine is his third favorite comic book character.

He's not just gonna come up with something like that out of thin air. I'm sure on some list, somewhere that was the case.

What exactly did they hire him for if he's not going to be an actor and act?

Some of the earlier animated movies by WB are amazing but lately they have dropped in quality and some of the casting choices/voice direction are so poor it all but ruins the movie and makes them disposable/forgettable. In the past I would watch the movies several times over and would enjoy them very much but now sometimes its a struggle watching them just once (like the recent Justice League War which was one of the worst animated movies from WB yet with its questionable voice direction and costume designs.)

A person can act their heart out but it doesnt mean they may be right for a role. Much will depend on what it is in the script, what the portrait of Bruce Wayne/Batman is like, how deeply layered it is.

I didn't find the costume designs questionable. Other than Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, they all seem to be accurate to the comic that it was based on.
Also I thought that Superman was drawn a bit too massive in that movie.

Frankly, the performance matters a lot. You can write the best Batman/Bruce Wayne with layers upon layers and if you can't find the performance to bring it to life, it is completely useless. Affleck's acting chops are clearly on display in Gone Girl, even though his character is pretty badly sketched out. Pike's character and strangely enough Tyler Perry's characters get the most development in the movie, but Affleck still does very well with the script he was given.

For another example of this, in Argo the moment when Affleck's character talks to his son despite not having seen him for quite some time is a beautiful combination of the script and the actor coming together to create a great moment.
