Frankly, the performance matters a lot. You can write the best Batman/Bruce Wayne with layers upon layers and if you can't find the performance to bring it to life, it is completely useless. Affleck's acting chops are clearly on display in Gone Girl, even though his character is pretty badly sketched out. Pike's character and strangely enough Tyler Perry's characters get the most development in the movie, but Affleck still does very well with the script he was given.

Afflecks' acting ability varies depending on the role. And superheroes in particular require just the right balance. Too much in either direction and the role can fall flat. That's why the writing/script will be tremendously important. After all, in MOS they had several popular actors who were seasoned and yet they didnt have a lot to work with in terms of material. Hopefully BvS balances things out more successfully.

I didn't find the costume designs questionable. Other than Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, they all seem to be accurate to the comic that it was based on.
Also I thought that Superman was drawn a bit too massive in that movie.

Overall I thought Justice League: War was surprisingly terrible. Its like watching superheroes you have known you're entire life and then you sit there shaking your head amazed at how bad the end result is.

Just got back from watching Gone Girl and it was amazing [BLACKOUT]GET IT?![/BLACKOUT]. Always been a fan of Affleck but he blew me away this time. Not a single shot in which he seems to be blurting out lines. Beautiful. Can't wait to see his portrayal of Batman and Bruce Wayne, he really has stepped up his game. Credits to Fincher for being as perfectionist as he is, not even a pound of fat on the performances.

Except these arent the characters you have known all your life. This is not the Justice League of your youth this is the Justice League of the Nu52 which I think it does a good job of representing.

I hope that Ben's Batman/Bruce Wayne is the most deeply layered character EVER committed to film. So whenever there is a discussion of legendary actors meeting the perfect role with the perfect performance, he sits firmly on top. And hopefully Henry's Superman/Clark just gets pushed to the side. So that Ben can get the girl, be it Lois or Diana. Or both. Deeply layered. Lol.

I think it's easier to count the ways Superman could NOT beat Batman in a fight.

I just saw BatFleck on Real Time with Bill Maher...my lord my mancrush is getting out of control. If anyone was ever Bruce Wayne it is this guy :)

I hope Cavill isnt pushed aside. He really needs to step it up a notch in terms of acting.

While the New 52 gets a lot of criticism from DC fans, I thought the movie didnt represent the New 52 so well, and unsurprisingly the reviews for the movie were less than glowing.

The audience score on RT is 81%.

IGN gave it an 8.8 and praised it.

4 stars on Amazon.

Most of the rest of the reviews I read were somewhere in he middle.

I is not beloved but once again the vocal ones seem to represent the minority. I isnt the best of the DC DTVs but it isnt even close to he worst either.

Most of the reviews I saw were less than flattering. Sure it was a loud movie with lots of action but the problem was the dialogue (Wonder Woman in particular was singled out as being particularly awful. And the new design of WW's costume was unflattering and looked awkward.) Many of DC/WB direct to DVD releases are very good, but Justice League War is one which doesnt rank among the better movies. It's a shame. I'm hopeful that Throne of Atlantis will improve upon JL War.

I was reading a recent interview with Ben Affleck where he talks about Batman v Superman and some of his comments sound promising. Such as the movie "has a great script. It has a very talented director (Zack Snyder), a really strong, smart, robust and experienced studio behind it, so it’s very exciting." He added "What I’ve learned from Zack in the movie are the cutting-edge visual effects—what we’re able to do now and how you integrate that into a story. He’s very gifted."

I think Superman and Wonder Woman were flirting with each other in the movie, suggesting them having a relationship later on. I recently reread the comic that the movie is based on and I noticed that the flirting thing was something that wasn't there.

The comic is fleshed out more than what we saw in the animated version. I remember showing a woman who is a life-long fan of WW, Wonder Woman's introductory scenes and she just shook her head sadly, that Wonder Woman has been portrayed like that.

Not back to this being unsure of Affleck's casting are we? Just seen Gone Girl and he gives a good performance he's been back as an actor for a good few movies.

Rosamund Pike was the stand out though.
