Once again I ask, who promised to released a slate of DC films? WB themselves?

Basically, an exec from WB said Justice League could be coming out sooner than we think. Beyond that, it's stuff we already knew about going back to April when TWSJ pretty much confirmed 9 DC Comics films in development.

Yes, the official slate is:

Aug. 5, 2016: Untitled DC Film

June 23, 2017: Untitled DC Film

Nov. 17, 2017: Untitled DC Film

March 23, 2018: Untitled DC Film

July 27, 2018: Untitled DC Film

April 5, 2019: Untitled DC Film

June 14, 2019: Untitled DC Film

April 3, 2020: Untitled DC Film

June 19, 2020: Untitled DC Film

I know about that. The way it was said a few posts ago make it sounds like there's a slate with filled in titles that was promised to be released soon.

... and you can likely insert Justice League, Shazam, Suicide Squad, Aquaman, etc into some of those slots ... we just have to wait to see where.

One of the Presidents of one of the divisions of WB said we'd get announcements by the end of August. Don't really remember who or what he was president of but it was definitely a president of WB.

No one said that, the only thing Dan Fellman said in August was that we would get news regarding the slate by the end of the month, and on September 2nd we got the news of Shazam being made into a movie. So they fulfilled that promise, nothing was promised beyond that.

Well.....We kinda did with The Rock being announced as Black Adam in a Shazam movie. Even though it came at the start of September haha.

So...there was no promise.
From an EW article in August ... http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/08/07/superman-versus-captain-america-the-superhero-showdown/

Fellman says that some of those untitled DC movies should begin to be announced later this month—Shazam?—and that the first real Justice League adventure might be closer than you think. Might they build on the momentum of Dawn of Justice in 2016 with a quick sequel incorporating more classic characters, rather than waiting the traditional two or three years? “While it hasn’t been officially announced,” teases Fellman. “I think it’s a pretty good bet.”
They announced Shazam, but the rest were just script/speculation stuff.

So the news of an Aquaman script being commissioned and Suicide Squad officially having a director and Shazam being made official aren't enough confirmations for movies which are 2+ years away. Even from the Marvel side, we only know Strange is coming after CA3 and then GOTG2, that is all for now. But yeah, it is because WB has no idea at all.

Thank you. WB will never win with the fans.

And they did announce Shazam as the article speculated. Since then we got the news of Aquaman and Suicide Squad. So basically yeah, they did what they said they would do, fans are expecting every single movie to be revealed with dates for some reason.

Fans are expecting more official production stills and info regarding this movie alone when it's barely October of 2014! :funny:

Just for clarification, was it confirmed by Warner Bros that Shazam and the Suicide Squad would be a part of the DCU or that they would be completely standalone from the DCU?

That is a good point. Forgetting spy pics, officially we only have the pictures of the Trinity, the Batmobile, the title and the release date.

The only announced official cast has been Cavill, Affleck, Gadot, Adams, Fishburne, Holly Hunter, Tao Okamoto, Callan Mulvey, Diane Lane and Jesse Eisenberg. It is being directed by Snyder and written by Terrio based on a screenplay by Goyer.

That is literally everything we officially know about the movie.

Toby Emmerich, president of WB's sister company New Line, confirmed Shazam won't be part of the MOSVerse. For now, I'll side with that, but I think if the first movie is good and makes money, we'll probably see Shazam and Black Adam in the MOSVerse. Rock vs. Cavill? Rock vs. Affleck? That is $$$ right there.

Nothing about Suicide Squad though...

His exact quote left a lot of wiggle room for Shazam as a part of the MoS-verse though

"It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself,” Emmerich continued. "It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies."

Seriously... Marvel is planning these things out for it seems like a decade. WB is dragging on just announcing who the hell is actually in BVS. Tis troubling...

Wait, so he film won't be connected at all to the DC Universe at first? What the hell is the point of making it then?

If Warner Bros. and DC Comics are actually serious about expanding a big DC Universe-Franchise, then they would be fools to not add this to their DC Universe.

Worst off is that if they decide to "later" combine Shazam into the DC Universe, then it will probably feel forced since the film wasn't created for that purpose at first.

You know WB can be really boneheaded but I think mostly keeping the focus on BvS is a good idea. WB aren't in the same position as Marvel, being too bullish could cause serious pr trouble if BvS isn't as successful as hoped. You saw how much egg Sony had on it's face after The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Being cautious for now is a smart move.

This has been known for a while so how are finding out about this now? And New Line is making it, not WB. New Line technically has the rights.

So the title of the film and the casting announcements from the last year don't tell you who's in BvS?

Well, the weather has been pretty bad the past week but I went to see another fan in person. He had a huge collection which he was getting rid of, and while chatting with him he said the comics were only half a dollar so I picked up a stack of Batman/Superman/DC titles, all of which are in awesome condition.

You want WB to fully market a 2016 movie right now? Good thing that you do not run a movie studio...

They are taking a cue from their animated division. Two animated films are connected in one given year...another animated film in the same year isn't. Personally, I like that.
