The problem, as always with Arrow and these CW shows, is the poor writing/schedules. I don't mind the William thing, but I understand how out of the blue it is, and it's because we haven't seen him in almost4-5 episodes, and in real time, that's 2 months. So it's very easy to forget that that was even a plot line.

The easy fix would have been to show Oliver visiting or talking to him or his mother on the phone at the very least. You remind the audience that William exists, and show that Oliver cares enough to seek him out often.

Or, y'know, paying attention to the show. If William hadn't shown up this season, then, yes, I'd get it. But they just showed him a couple of episodes ago and made a huge deal out of it.

Yea but he was more in moiras life the whole time and they were even lovers at one point. Ollive didnt tell anyone except felicity about a kid in another city. Malcolms good but he aint phsysic and Im calling the writers out. Atleast with the flash they plant the seeds for tension with characters and show us the info learning scenes, it ls basic story telling and drama building.

It was Moira who was involved in getting Rebecca and the kid out of Oliver's life though. Maybe he found out when he was digging stuff up on her. I don't find it hard to believe that he had people dig up as much stuff as they could on Oliver too. I am sure that Malcolm thought that one day he might need Oliver to do something for him like he did last season with Ra's, so he tried to get whatever could so he was prepared for when that day arrives and that is how he found out about the son.

or, y'know, they could have made him a big enough deal to be in more than one episode, in which Oliver basically says he wont be a part of his life.

Technically, he was in two.
in which Oliver basically says he wont be a part of his life.
To protect him. He's forfeiting a relationship with his son to keep him safe.

Hey, if you are OK with William becoming the #1 way to get to Oliver, go for it lol

No one's saying that.

You've been talking about how 'important' William is, no?

"of course he matters, they made a point to show oliver cares a lot"

and Malcomb telling Darhk about William, calling him the one Oliver cares most about... thats not some "ra's al ghul trickery" he pulled with Oliver last season... the writers are forcing William to be some HUGE deal when he really isnt that big of a deal...

Maybe its my inner Game of Thrones coming out, but i would not give a crap if William was in the coffin. :ninja:

My point was that it's perfectly rational for Malcolm (Malcomb?) to know about William and there's no need to spoonfeed us HOW he got that intel on Ollie.

Speaking of forced storylines...

its iconic, sure... but its god awful in the show and about as silly as it gets... and thats acknowledging Felicty flying the atom suit like Iron Man but not knowing how to remove the helmet.

I wonder if Komodo is ever coming back?

For all the hate Season 3 gets, I still enjoyed it, it certainly had it's fair share of gems. That was an awesome episode last season featuring that character.

Speaking of his son, I think I'm missing some info here and maybe someone can explain. I know Wm was mentioned in the cross-over ep, where we saw him and all the Olicity drama etc, and in the reset timeline Oliver had that scene at the end with Wm in his bedroom, but it wasn't clear to me if he ever told Wm he was his father. It was clear from O's discussion with Barry that he wasn't sure how involved he should get with Wm for safety reasons.

Then they mentioned in a recent ep that Oliver had been going to Central City (so I guess we assume it's to see Wm)

So did they ever make it clear that O did tell Wm he was his father? Cause if not, then I could see that as a way to protect Wm (he's just some guy that comes to visit Samantha and Wm sometimes....). But if he did tell Wm he was his father then he is trying to have a relationship and so not protecting him as much?

He just told him he was friends with his Mom.

I think it would have been better to have Malcolm sell out his daughter... he's already a dick, they might as well go 100%.

It seems the writers do not to want to make any character 100% evil or 100% good, and prefer them all to have shades of grey.

Malcolm has always been a warped image version of Oliver. Like many archenemy characters they have many similarities. Malcolm thinks he is the hero of his story. Malcolm always claims his undertaking and becoming Ra's Al Ghul was for some greater good.

Merlyn and Reverse Flash had likable qualities and showed moments of vulnerability but are still bad guys because they are willing to do awful things for selfish reasons. Both of them simply try to rationalize the terrible things they do. These qualities are what make them more than two dimensional villains.

Good post, I agree. They are both very interesting characters as a result of this.

So the complain is no build up to William or how malcolm knows. Why does it matter? So much negative

I thought the recent mention of Oliver going to Central City did put Wm back on my radar in time for this ep and I didn't have a problem believing Malcolm could get hands on the info.

But some posters didn't like the way it was done and if you read their posts, they explain why it mattered to them..

I wonder when we're gonna find out where Deathbolt got his powers.
