This season is automatically brilliant simply because Oliver and Felicity aren't a couple anymore.

Nailed it! This has been a great season so far. I was weary due to him with a "new team" but it's been handled well and dig/Thea still given ample airtime. Actually I love thes in her new role so far. As for Oliver and felocity, they seem to have better chemistry when they aren't together. I actually am enjoying felocity again like season 1-2.

Also love how Oliver isn't getting his ass kicked anymore. That was the main thing that bugged me last season. will be interesting to see what flashpoint has changed on the show.

I've been watching some Season 1 eps on TNT, and I have to say that I much prefer Laurel to Felicity as a romantic lead. I like the dynamic better in the beginning (bf), as there is such a rich history there to delve into without creating a whole nother one to mess with. And I think that any tension may have been from Cassidy not wanting her character marginalized as they brought Felicity further into the story.
And retconned 'little moments' in the flashbacks to show that Oliver and Felicity were 'star-crossed...' gag.
Now as they go forward, I hope the only Olicity we'll see is in flasbacks and I hope (hope) that we'll eventually see a return of Loliver!

Or maybe that's just the fangirl in me...

I'm not too big on the current comics, but didn't they get rid of the Ollie/Dinah relationship in the new 52? I was reading the first issue of Rebirth and it sounded like they barely knew each other in that universe, and Arrow would often take a lot of cues from there.

Smallville, on the other hand, still pisses me off till this day with how they treated Ollie after season 8.

The new 52 definitely retconned Dinah and Ollie. It was also terrible. Choosing to go with the continuity of a character that (at the point arrow started) was around for like a year and a half, as opposed to the total average of that character over his 75 year publication history is a terrible idea.

The entire line of New 52 ended with Rebirth which brought characters back to a status quo after only 5 years. The book is finally selling again.

We will see. Call me a hopeless optimist, but I say, "never say never." I will always entertain the possibility that Lauriver could happen, if Laurel returns, until the closing credits of the series finale.

Agreed. As I said in the episode 3 thread. 3 for 3 this season. Off to a great start and I'm very happy about it! Arrow is crushing it right now for me. It's back to season 1/2 form and I hope it continues. And the flashbacks are great again.

Yeah, more focus on action and less on relationships doesn't necessarily mean the show is great. It's better than it has been in the past, but there were several other factors in play that made season 1 and 2 really captivating. To me, it's still missing something that makes me WANT to tune in next week and wish that the next episode wasn't a week away. I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm fine with waiting a week for a new episode.

There were a lot more experienced actors worth tuning in for (which season 2 was already cutting down on, but the personal island story creeping up to present day Ollie might have been what kept people invested along with other heroes jumping in) + the dual/triple identities the character had to juggle with, which in this season even flashback Ollie is winding down to present day Ollie.
I'm guessing the backlash to Olicity and Felicity in general is what caused this shift as she's been relegated to just the moral compass and comic relief so far.

You know, the thing that I don't get is why is "killing" such a big deal for some of the members in Team Arrow when two of their members use lethal firearms in combating against their enemies? Wild Hog and Spartan both use regular guns (not stun guns) in the field.

Aaw, Katie getting a sisterly kiss on the cheek! It's one of the things that I like about these shows, is the genuine affection and camaraderie that exists behind the cameras.

Nothing I don't like more than to hear they are just acting.

I can see that the 100th episode of Arrow will get a ratings increase because of the crossover and the milestone.

Yeah. Say what you will about Slade and his motivations. It was still good to see an overarching villain that had so much history with Oliver. The idea of Oliver trying to hold his life together while juggling a hero life, and dealing with a deranged super solider plotting against him was pretty compelling.

I think one of the great things about Slade's character (regardless of the basis for this turn towards villainy) was that he had been well developed as a character prior to Season 2, thus a lot of people were invested by the time he became the main villain of the season.

Unlike Ra's and Damien, he had the strongest personal ties to Oliver and legitimately looked like he could kick ass without the usage of a obvious stunt double. And it didn't hurt that he had the best looking outfit out of all of the villains of the show, thus far.

Some interesting takeaways from the Arrow 100 party:
1) Nick Tarabay (Captain Boomerang) was there. He's only been in the third season crossover, so unless they invited him for that, could he be showing up again soon? (They did invite Kevin Alejandro (Brother Blood) who I doubt it coming back, but Blood was a much bigger part of Arrow than Boomerang ever was...)
2) They had Keri Adams (Bethany Snow the TV reporter who's been in like 30 episodes on a television screen) there too. It's nice to see that they pay attention to the minor characters who are play an important part in establishing their world.
