Just another example that quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality.

Both respective lead actresses from CEG and Jane the Virgin won a Golden Globe for best actress. An exploit none other CW shows have done...

Having Felicity go down a dark path is an interesting idea that has so much potential. I generally do not care about Felicity, but this is the first time I am intrigued about a storyline for her. It all lies in the execution though. If not done well, it could backfire. The writers have done most things well so far this season, so hopefully that will continue in the 2nd half of the season.

Felicity does not make for any type of decent good guy which makes her going down a dark path any better ? I caught up with the first half so I can follow the crossover good but Im confident in skipping the second half Im good I will read the reviews

Felicity was good in the first two seasons. She was one of the shows most popular characters back then. She was then pushed as a lead of the show and it didn't work as she was not given much depth in those seasons, lost the humour she had in the early seasons and was constantly involved in relationship drama. Making her want to avenge her boyfriend by hook or by crook, through nefarious means will add a much needed layer to the character. It will give her a clear path and goal for the season and revenge stories when done well can be quite good and entertaining.

Generally she is portrayed as the ultimate good girl who rarely does anything wrong. Having her involved in the deaths of people in Havenrock was one of the few times she did something that could be considered questionable, and it was pretty big. Having Felicity seek revenge for the death of her boyfriend could be a massive step-up from the last two seasons by giving her something actually interesting to do, and not just have her around for relationship drama and cringe-inducing scenes with her family.

The reviews for the first half of the season were good, so hopefully that will continue in the second half.

I just saw this plot in Agents Of SHIELD

Girl loses boy, girl goes down dark path

At least in Agents Of SHIELD Daisy already had black hair but if she did not have black hair she would have changed it

Its a silly trend in TV shows with girl going bad & changing their hair black saying "Look at me Im bad now" after their boyfriends die

Im avoiding this second half like the god damn plague & the rest of the show as long as Felicity Smoak is alive. Plenty of other shows are on during Arrows slot I can be watching

The writers did most things well in the first half of the season, so I have more confidence in them doing this well than I would at another time. With that said, Felicitys role was greatly reduced in the first half of the season. Whether they can keep the momentum going from the 1st half with Felicity having a bigger role is a different matter. All I can say is that the storyline they have planned is far more interesting than what they did with her the last two seasons. No matter how it turns out, there is no denying its potential.

Well, things have changed so far. The first half of this seasons was better than the first half of the last two, and has received more praise.

Its not just Felicity these show runners & writers just suck its been like this since Season 3. I agree regarding things going downhill in the 2nd part of the last two seasons. If they drop the ball again, I really hope they will be replaced, as them having three bites at the cherry is more than enough.

& like I mentioned its not just an Arrow problem plenty of shows would benefit from new show runners & writers that are past the five season mark

My hope (though chances are slim) are that Felicity will be off Arrow in season 6 and we'll get a new Dinah Lance Black Canary teaming with Ollie and Diggle.

I'm willing to roll with the "Felicity goes darker" idea; they did it with Diggle last season so it's only natural they'd get to Felicity eventually since she's been relatively unblemished compared to the rest of the cast. And the truth is, "goes darker" probably just means she'll be teaming up with her dad. Which could be either good or bad because her dad himself wasn't a problem, he had potential; but when they brought all three of the Smoaks together, it wasn't so good. As long as Donna stays away I'll be happy.

Awesome!!! Hopefully we can get more contrived drama between Oliver and Kara like the last time, that exists simply to keep Kara away from the threats that she would find too easy to deal with, such as the Government agents in the last crossover .

It would be great to start getting flashbacks for other characters, especially Wild Dog (former Navy), Diggle, and maybe Tina.
