I'm okay with her staying about the same level as she's held the first half of this season. She's still an important character, but she's not over-the-top.

Ok, so what's going on? It's clear that MG is waffling on BC. So is Laurel coming back or are they just trolling the BC fans so that they watch for a couple episodes? I'm not wasting my time anymore. Either they do it right or they don't.

I've haven't been keeping up with every piece of news, but my understanding is Laurel is not coming back, but a new BC will be introduced.

Did the Arrow writers ever say Laurel would come back full-time? I remember them saying she would be "alive and well", which is misleading as we have Black Siren instead. I cannot remember them saying Laurel would come back to be a regular though. Did the writers say she would be in an interview?

When I heard the 'alive and well' comment it was in relation to Laurel, though no mention was made as to a returning role for the character.

what if they told us who prometheus is during the summer and we still haven´t noticed !?

in the summer, they told us the following about teh season villain :

the current code name for the season 5 villain is James (...) ... he is said to be a contemporary of oliver that is dedicated to his own agenda, and he’s extremely charming and charismatic in the process. anyone going out for the part needs to be able to convincingly portray someone who will be someone’s best friend in one second and his or her killer in the next, without offering any sign of his intentions. and it’s just fine with him whichever way it goes.

who is a conteporary of oliver and the right age to be justin clayborne junior !? adrian chase ...

I suppose its *possible*. Begs the question of who the Vigilante is, mind.

even if chase is not prometheus, I have always believed someone else is the vigilante after they didn´t reveal his identity right away ...

quentin seems like the best choice for me ... those blackouts that made him think he was prometheus may be due to him actually being vigilante

Vigilante has been trained pretty hard-core though, including moves that Oliver recognizes that may lead to a similar teacher. As far as I've seen, Quinton has never shown any ability in that way, unless he's been learning martial arts during those blackouts...

I do admit that is a good point ...

MG practically confirms the new BC with everything we know about 5x10
What can you tease for the introduction of Tina Boland and what we’ll be seeing for her?
You’ll get a glimpse of her at the end of the midseason premiere. It’s funny, I don’t want to tease too much about her. There’s a lot of stuff that’s out on the internet in terms of casting breakdowns, which I hate talking about because a lot of the casting breakdowns we release are false because we know they leak. But I think we have a really wonderful character here. Juliana [Harkavy], who plays her, is a terrific actress. We’re going to be doing some new and different kinds of things. Because of the internet, I guess I’m very tempted to — as always — I’d prefer to let the story tell itself and play out, and then people can make up their minds.

5x10 ends with the Canary Cry

Guess I may be skipping this show unless something good happens...

I'm uninformed, but how do we know 5x10 ends with the canary cry?

Someone who saw the episode/read the script leaked it a month ago

Re: Adrian being Prometheus....no, unless they're playing us on a subconscious level now, too. Vigilante's voice is recognizable Adrian's (same raspy quality, anyway), so if he is Prometheus, they intentionally had Adrian's actor do Vigilante's voice, too, to throw us off.

It's definitely Adrian as Vigilante. Although, a voice actor was used to dub Vigilante's lines, probably to throw fans off. Didn't really do a good job at it, though.

Yeah, if I'm focusing I can clearly hear Adrian's voice.

Well it's not like Zoom sounded like Jay Garrick last season. They had cast an entirely different person just for that voice.

Not just that, but Adrian hasn't voiced any real disapproval of the Green Arrow, and the Vigilante only objects in a "Why aren't you even more lethal!" manner.

Edit: Oops, wrong thread. Will repost to "Who Are You?"

I don't get it. Jay Oliva and his team did more justice to Constantine and Zatanna, not to mention the rest of the characters, in a 1:16:00 DTV/VOD than Marc Guggenhiem and his team has done for Black Canary in 4 seasons of Arrow.

Look man, just admit that you either don't like the character or you don't know what to do with her and move on. I'm pretty sure the fandom will respect you more for honesty than half-assed apologies when you need to spike your ratings for a couple of episodes.

This is where I walk away. You were good Arrow. For those two seasons you were pretty badass. But you're lack of appreciation for the characters you're adapting is too big for me to stomach. Thanks for introducing Diggle and influencing the creation Emiko into the mythos. But I'm done with your show.

Preach it!

They went on and on about doing their own thing but now they want to honor "Black Canary" and be more
faithful to the name now that it is an original character. But when they had the actual character they didn't give a rats ass. Suddenly now it's ok that Black Canary can be a meta human and kick ass fighter...why not do that with Laurel? They had plentyof opportunities to do her justice but didn't want to.

You know, I honestly think it's Berlantico taking plays from the MCU playbook and being extra cheap with Arrow. They don't want to pay for Black Canary creator royalties. The same thing happened with Caitlyn Snow/Killer Frost on Flash. Change the character just enough that it's original and you don't have to pay the guys that created it. The whole calling her Laurel instead of Dinah thing is a loophole, but since fans really wanted Black Canary they had to kill Laurel off to give the audience a bootleg version.

Say what y'all want about the DCEU, but at least they take care of as many people as they can. Bill Finger and Jim Starlin immediately come to mind.

I was hoping the ratings would go up to show that there was demand for Laurel, but sadly they didn't. Tbf, the Flash ratings were down too, but there would have been no better way to show that people want Laurel back than the ratings going up for the episodes KC is in. Perhaps the Trump interview played its part in ratings being down too (I think it was on at the same time as Arrow).

Or maybe people saw the extended promo and decided not to watch it because it wasn't the Laurel from Earth-1 they THOUGHT they were going to bring back. That's another possibility.
