Arrow Arrow Season 2 Episode 17: "Birds of Prey" Rate and Review Thread

So this is what
third time when Olivers saves Sara? This is getting ridiculous, just let her be a badass dammit!

I think you had better get used to it because I doubt it will change. Remember she also got saved by Felicity a few eps back.

I thought that the actress who played Huntress actually improved more and more with every episode in season 1. It was the characterization of her that I hate, not the performance.

But according to some people here, Oliver has to be the grand Puma who does everything himself and wins every fight. He's the hero after all. :whatever: I'm hoping that there's more to this in the actual episode. Caity Lotz is a physical badass in real life, let her be it on the show, do you hear me producers?

I don't recall saying that at all, but whatever floats your boat......

So I've seen two clips of the episode so far....does anyone else find these clips really bad?? I mean, the camera angles, the acting, the action scenes, the effects...they all seem really bad. I'm kinda scared! Prove me wrong Huntress.

the latest clip...regarding the action; yeah, it did look pretty bad...especially when compared to a lot of the fight scenes that we've had on the show in the past.

“Obviously, when you’re talking about bringing [Laurel] back to the D.A.’s office, you naturally think about, ‘OK, what case is she prosecuting?’” Guggenheim says. “The scenarios that resonate best with us are, ‘What’s a case that could affect a character who we care about?” And that led [executive producer] Andrew [Kreisberg] to pitch the idea, ‘What if Frank Bertinelli is being prosecuted and The Huntress comes back to town?’”

Interested in the explanation on how Laurel gets her job back. Certainly it can't be because she hugged her sister and attended some meetings.

Switching between this and the Heat game is stressful

If Lance does not start thinking that Oliver is the Arrow after that then he is an idiot

Ugh. Guess there is REALLY no chance for Helena to ever be redeemed. Shame.

Good episode, though I wish Laurel got a good heroic hit in. So happy we are done with her being an addict/alcoholic. Probably the most screen time Katie has gotten in a good long while.

Could've done without the Roy/Thea subplot though just wasn't into it at all.

I really don't know what route they are going with Helena though, everyone knows she is the Huntress so even when she gets out of jail, if she goes back into the hero/anti hero/anything masked bizz she is going to be on the DL and run for a good while.

I feel bad for Thea, she actually thinks Oliver is honest. Boy is she in for a shock!

I'm glad Sara finally kicked Helena's ass, she's a trained assassin she should be winning more fights without Oliver's help.

Blackmail that's heroic. That's how Laurel gets her groove back, okay show.

Poor Thea, everyone is always lying to her. I bet Slade tells her all the truths.

Wow!:wow: After a subpar previous episode, this week really delivers the goods.

First, can we put all the carping and whining about the Huntress acting ability to rest now?She did a fantastic job.

Frankly I'm glad her dad is dead now.Maybe the character can grow beyond being bat**** crazy at last.

The action was great.I like Sara's voice changer.I was afraid it was gonna sound comical.

Laurel came out of the whole thing well. You have to wonder why every "good guy" on the show just doesn't suit up and join Arrow at this point.

Flashbacks were interesting. Slade's "branding" Ollie with Shado's tattoo came as a big surprise to me.Sara had an interesting dilemma there.

So "Speedy" is Roy's "code word" now? That was kinda cool.Kid needs a mask ASAP.Not sure why Ollie was pressing him to leave Thea over that incident.I mean, the guy had just put a bullet through his hand.Naturally,he was perturbed at that point. :woot: More trouble for our young lovers, but I'm sure things will soon come together for them, now that Slade has taken an interest in Thea.:wow:

Much, much better than last week's in that they corrected the mistake of not involving Oliver in the A plot by having him do so with the return of Huntress, who was a lot better this time around. What Huntress does from there would keep my interest.

Dinah Laurel got her job back and her groove from the first season has returned. I thought she would find out about Sarah being the Canary. Both Dinah Laurel and Thea are among the ones left out of the secrets.

The stuff with Roy and Thea I could do without, but they lead into next week's episode.

"Once you let the darkness inside, it never comes out." Yes, please, lead Laurel down the dark path. I hope they stick with it. I thought that short, cold performance, was much better than her continuous crying and quivering breath delivery, throughout the majority of the show so far.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Also, I'm surprised at all the negative comments for the last episode. I liked it a lot.

Anywho, I remember reading a quote that said a certain episode would make it clear if Lance knew who the Arrow was or not. I couldn't remember if they said it was this episode or not. Does anybody else remember? At this point, it's getting a little ridiculous if he doesn't. Especially after the phone call. Heck, in that moment, I was expecting Lance to look at Ollie and say "Go get your other suit." Or something.

They said in ep 19 we'll find out whether or not Quentin knows about Oliver.

Ah okay, thanks. Yeah, I'm really hoping they reveal that he's figured it out for a while now. It's getting a bit hard to swallow that he wouldn't guess it.

Two things about this ep bug me. First how does Quentin avoid arrest for helping the Arrow? He didn't get tranked like the rest of the cops escorting Frank B. And second he punches out the SWAT guy. That is a lot of explaining to do.

Second Sara saying Oliver created Deathstroke too. She seems to have forgotten that her getting Oliver to lie to Slade was a factor there. IMO they created Deathstroke not Oliver alone.

Yep, I agree, much better than Suicide Squad, and the name was very much a tease rather than a promise. And easily the best episode of the Huntress Saga, personally, I hope this is the end of it. I don't like what they've done with the character, and it's now not only implausible, but impossible for her to be a hero now. both in crime count, and in location.

Overall, this was good. Who caught that Gail Simone name drop! Epic!!! I'll post my review later once it's up.

For what its worth, I don't read the comics or care very much for to keeping close to the source, so I suppose as a member of the general audience, I don't really care that Huntress isn't a hero, and it would be a little ridiculous for her just to be a hero. I like the psycho in her, and its nice to have a character on the show completely access that.
