i think its take-off will be a combination of these two vehicles which in the end the new batwing seems to be a weird combination of, i think its back jet will point down like the f-35 which is why it looks so segmented

We have heard a lot of speculation that Batman´s gonna have a new vehicle in TDKR, possibly an aerial one, most likely a bat-copter, which would make more sense for him to use in Gotham than a jet. This is a cool opportunity for us to speculate as to what the vehicle might actually be - we have been mislead before - and what it will/should be like. Most of all, is a great opportunity for fans to go creative, as they do with costumes, movie posters, etc, and create designs for that new ride. Show what you can do, guys!

What a strange contraption, why not just drive in the lower vehicle?

Because this thing can (and in the film will) fly higher? It isn't a hovercraft a la Luke's landspeeder, it is a flying vehicle.

Doesn't the bat-themed suit suffice for calling himself Batman though? I always thought that him having everything in his arsenal be bat-themed was a bit overkill.

Like the tumbler, it has bat-like shapes, just not batwing fins or a bat head on the front. The first pic from behind clearly suggested a bat-like shape.

And there´s the fact he, huh, dresses up like a bat.

Ha, I came here to post exactly that. Nolan's Blade Runner fandom has been a big topic back in the "Begins"-days.

Good catch there. It seems so. It looks like it may not completely fly in the air, or it could completely surprise us Batpod coming out of the Tumbler style and shoot up a building to evade a missile that one of Bane's mercs shoots at him.

Why do you think it can't fly?

Seems reminiscent of a harrier jet, as many others have pointed out. I think it will be able to fly, albeit through CGI.

Was done in Photoshop, I'm not sure how much detail you want me to go into but it's easy when you know how
