The Dark Knight Rises Batman 3: Where does the story go from here?

I just don't want her "killed" off again, like in BR. I want her in custody or escaping or whatever makes Batman's heart break in the end (I always liked the possibility of them ending up together, but I doubt it'll happen in TDKR. But I've been wrong before).

I think it well end on an upbeat note . She is working with him on the streets . He questions her methods . She calls him a hypocrite and than it turns to flirting. Maybe he even cracks a smile

I posted this as a thread and it was immediately closed, though Im not sure why except that maybe your not allowed to post new threads for a thought, so I figured I would try sharing here and see if anyone has any thoughts.

I think Selina will be an opposite idea of what Dent was in TDK
I think Bane will be a mercenary of sorts hired by Talia to destroy the man who took her father from her. Bane being simply out to destroy Batman both physically and Psychologically, will capitilize on fundemental aspects. I think Selina Kyle will be hired to earn his emotional trust, and truly be there to rob him and Wayne Ent. While Bane breaks batman, Selina breaks Bruce, especially considering vulnerability after Rachel.

Now heres my Dent comparison, Dent was a good guy in TDK till he was corrupted by Joker at the end of TDK. I think Selina is Bruces potential redemption. SOmeone sent to him with evil intentions from the start, but becomes inspired by him, and returns as Catwoman in the end to save him just before Bane finally breaks the Bat.

Nolan is always generally going back to fundamental aspects of each character. Look at Catwomans fundemental traits.

Master Thief (nolan loves big scale Heist situations)
Seductress
In her evolution she has on more than one occasion switched sides from good to bad.
and finally, the Catwoman persona was out of inspiration from Batman.

Well now that it looks like they may go to an exotic location like Bucharest, odds are Talia will be in it, or the return of Ras'. I would like Liam Neeson to reprise his role as Ras', kind of like he is the identical twin of the Ras' that was killed and thats the whole way Ras' never seems to die, twins run heavy in the family and they never reveal themselves......just like in The Prestige.

One of the things I'd really like to see is Bruce becoming fully absorbed in Batman here. Obsessed to the point of losing some of his humanity. Most of my favorite stories from the last 20 years have Batman pushed past his limits intellectually and physically. With Bane involved I could see this happening... Bane did just that in Knightfall.

Excellent idea there. It would go excellently with my idea for the whole purpose of Catwoman.

Posted this in another thread:
I think Catwoman's purpose in the film is to help Bruce realize that he should embrace being the Batman. He has always wanted and thought that he would need it only temporarily, but by the end of the film he knows that this mask is his new face. He can never leave it, and Catwoman will help him understand that he can never throw in the towel. It's what the city and Bruce need. By the end of the film, after defeating Bane, we have a full fledged Batman that is ready for whatever terror that is on the horizon and is ready to live the rest of his life wearing that mask.

At least, that's what I think Catwoman's role in the film will mean to Bruce lol :p The movie ends on a good note with Bruce taking full charge of Batman, but also ending as a slight tragedy.

As far as the plot is concerned, it would be logical if the GCPD and Commissioner Gordon "outsourced" help to take down Batman. I can see Bane being part of a fictional Blackwater type of group and is the leader of a team of mercenaries. A scene similar to Batman being chased by the cops in year one would fit nicely with this narrative.

Yikes, I can't see Gordon being in favor of the decision at all. If anything, that could make for some nice tension for his character as well.

Although Harvey Dent’s reputation as a symbol against corruption was preserved by the actions of both Batman and Gordon, Gotham remains a city on the brink of destruction, but the greatest impact of all comes from Joker. The effects of his reign of terror have left Gotham a wasteland. Citizens feel that no one can be trusted, and violence has skyrocketed.

Protagonists:
Batman/Bruce Wayne - Still grieving the loss of Rachel Dawes, Batman has to sidestep Gotham’s forces while still trying to counteract the criminals in the city.

Alfred Pennyworth - Alfred fears that his master may be losing his humanity and pushing himself too hard.

Commissioner James Gordon - Gordon begins to regret his decision to have Batman take the fall for Dent and has managed to weed out the corrupt from his department.

Lucius Fox - Fox returns to Wayne Enterprises as CEO.

Antagonists:
Bane - A mastermind and strategist with a mind that rivals that of The Dark Knight himself and an ability to enchance his physical abilities through the use of a drug referred to only as “Venom.”

Catwoman/Selina Kyle - A burglar and thief with a taste for theft as a response to a history of abuse, Catwoman becomes a love interest of Batman due to his status as a fugitive.

Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow - Now a prisoner at Arkham Asylum, Crane has only two goals: escape and get his revenge against Batman.

I think Crane could be used in the same way the Calender Man was interpreted in THE LONG HALLOWEEN, sort of like a Hannibal Lectar character, like he was in that one scene where Gordon was questioning him in Arkham. Just a guess.

Also, I love the way DaveMoral suggests a Bruce Wayne lost to his 'creature'. Whenever I look back at TDK I see Batman as the central character, not Bruce Wayne (unlike Begins), the duality could be played out just as well as it was played in the first film.

I would love to see Ra's back . WB dont even have to announce that Nesson's is back , so that we can get a little surprise (like we did with ducard-ra's ).

Lucius or Gordon , one of them should fear for his life in TDKR :woot:

Nah, I wouldn't want them to toy with death any more. Gordon's death in TDK was great, but I wouldn't want it to happen again, and you shouldn't top Rachel and Harvey :P

Though...I have stinking feeling that we'll get the DK:R ending and have 'Batman' killed off. Replace the Man of Steel with the dude with venom.

I like the idea of Bane being involved with the police somehow. Either they hire him in some fashion, or they could mix the character with Lock-Up, where he's a cop that takes his job way too seriously and eventually goes rogue to take matters into his own hands.

These are good choices.
Both Catwoman and Bane are counterparts to Batman.
I'm interested in seeing how Nolan uses this in the film.

Twins?! No. F**k no.

Hey I get it, but how else in Nolans universe would Ras' come back? Twins? any other realistic options? Cloning? Don't think Nolan would go there in this world.

No Ra's back or LAzarus Pit. Nolan was kind enough to leave it open-ended.

Well said, you can only do so much. Even in KNIGHTFALL they met only once and it was Bane hiring Selina to 'do what you have always been doing' to distract Bats.

She didnt die in Returns. Her silhouette was show at the end.

Remember the whole "symbol" speech that Ducard/Ra's had with Bruce when he found him in solitary confinement? That's how you bring back Ra's.

Ra's al-Ghul isn't a man, he's a legend. A symbol. He cannot die. Ra's al-Ghul is immortal... without need of cloning, twins or a Lazarus Pit.

In Knighfall Bane uses Batman enemies to exhaust him...in TDKR supposedly , Batman will be hunted (by police force , mafia , even some crazy guys) so the same angle (even if by different characters) could be explored.

No Ra's back or LAzarus Pit. Nolan was kind enough to leave it open-ended.

He could come back in flashbacks. I just think ra's and banes relation should be explored.

In Batman Begins how long does it take since Bruce doesnt accept Ra's methods and Ra's going to Gotham ? Just a few months ?

Since it's possible Nolan's vision of Ra's is that each few years a new individual assumes the role, I think Nolan can opt to use Bane as the new Ra's for the LOS. He got the position but has a different approach, maybe he would go to Gotham alone to "study" Batman on his own first. And sparing us to see all the "pawns" from the League.

Meh, then just use Bane as the 'Son of the Demon' (remember that arc?)

Personally, I think using the League of Shadows will be unoriginal and dull for the finale.

I feel like The League of Shadows has more to offer if it were to come back then a couple of quiet henchman and some ninjas.

Obviously, based off of the ending of TDK, this film should open with Batman being chased by the police. Establish the tone right from the beginning. Batman will be public enemy #1 in Gotham and must redeemed. He has to "rise". ; )
