They definetly should have made this a closed beta bc unfortunately for them people will form their final opinions based on this

And in my case, it's going to work out in their favor. I was on the fence before, but this beta makes me want to go out and pre-order it right now.

Ok, name some features you are glad to see thus far in the Beta...Mine are:
1.) Everyone can spot enemies now (either with the 'back' button on console, or whatever u use on pc)
2.) Team Auto-Balance (unconfirmed, help me with this)
3.) Strobe flashlight!

Recent message.

''Thank you for playing the Open Beta and making the final game better!

We are very excited to see so many gamers join our Battlefield 3 Open Beta. Here's an update on the Open Beta from DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson.

I want to give you an overview of how the Open Beta is helping us shape a fantastic final game, what we are implementing based on your feedback, and how the Open Beta will help us deliver a robust gaming environment from day one.

The Open Beta is a true Beta

The Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. We need to test the new back end dedicated server structure we've built. Not only have we built a new game engine, but an entirely new back end system so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dedicated servers on all platforms.

Just like normal procedure when releasing a game, the Open Beta has had long lead times due to testing, certification, and setting up. This means that the code you are now playing is actually quite early and not representative of the final game.

We had to do this in order to have as many people testing as possible, in order to ensure a top quality experience when the game is released. However, we're confident in the Battlefield formula and confident that our fans will support us in order to make Battlefield 3 better.

Dedicated servers require dedicated testing

The biggest reason for running the Open Beta is to stress test our servers and back end. Already, we are seeing 6 times the number of simultaneous players in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! The fact that Battlefield 3 is clearly our biggest game launch ever by a magnitude of 6 makes it doubly important to test everything.

We are constantly updating the News section on Battlelog with information on what we are fixing from Open Beta to final. We appreciate your time and your feedback. The data and feedback from the Open Beta will not only directly affect the final game of Battlefield 3, but its future development and support.

We're heading out on the road this week to let journalists experience all aspects of Battlefield 3. Stay tuned for their previews, and stay tuned for the final game on October 25th. The final game will look, play and sound better than the Open Beta. You have helped making sure of that.

Everyone could spot enemies in BF:BC2 as well. Thats not new.

Well, I never knew that. I always used the sniper's spotter scope to do that for my team. Come to think of it, no one else has used the spotting feature in either BFBC2 or BF3 Beta since I've been playing, it's just been me.

Spotting feature? What is that? (Sorry first time playing a Battlefield game) Is it related to the spotting bonuses that I sometimes get?

When aiming down the sights, you can spot enemies and they will show up on your team's radar briefly.

Yup, everyone could spot in BFBC2. The only difference is that they have throttled it in Battlefied 3. In Bad Company I would just hammer on the back button looking around an area to spot everyone. In the Beta if you do it too many times in a row it beeps at you and you have to wait a bit before doing it again.

I like the flashlight, but I think after a month or so after launch it will suck. It messed me up my first day playing the beta, but now I just shoot at it whenever I see a light. I think more people will eventually learn that too.

I think the effect of the flashlight/laser-sight is totally awesome.

Yea its not something people use often, even tho they should. I notice the same thing in Gears 3. People dont use the spot button. Its annoying.

I love the flashlight effects in particular in the tunnels of the metro station, can absolutely blind someone that is camping round the corner or it can work the other way around.

Laser sight is very useful, I think it will be more of use in hardcore for the likes of hipfiring as on softcore it seems to give alot of people away.

Also loving the glint that comes off sniper scopes making snipers that stay completely still & in the one spot more visible. Hopefully this will put an end to the sniper problem that has infested BF games.

Claymores are excellent as well, I've yet to unlock them but I've been killed 3 or 4 times with them. They go off instantly. Not like Black Ops were there is the click, & a brief second before the boom making them almost impossible to survive in BF unless you've got Flak.

Loving the beta thus far & a welcome change from Black Ops which I'm finished with & have been since I got all the gold guns I wanted.

This is a must buy for me. CoD isn't even on my radar. I've been waiting for some classic BF action for a long time. Wasn't a fan of BC.

Really? I felt the beta was quite a bit different to BC...closer to BF2 than anything else.

Heh, in my first time playing, I saw a glint off in the distance and I thought "What the hell is that?" Then pow! Sniper takes me out. I love COD, but this Battlefield thing has really amazed me with all it's details. I mean, the sound alone is so incredible. The volume on my TV accidentally went up to a 100 one time and it was like being in D-Day. Just explosions and gunfire all over the damn place.

I couldn't possibly see how. Im just coming off BC2 and i had NO problems with the transition to BF3. All the buttons are the same(at least on consoles). I mean i was hoping for that as i didn't think BC2 needed many changes. All the changes i wanted(prone, better weapon detail) have all made it in to BF3. In terms of feel tho, this is as close to BC2 as they could of got.

Yea i LOVE the sound in these games. FAR, FAR better than in CoD. The devs have also stated the sound will be even better in the retail build compared to the Beta.

Due to that message they put up try convince people it was a beta and not some promotional demo under the guise which developers abuse I think they will probably issue out a demo at some point.

They say I can turn off my strobe flashlight on my weapon when I want to, so I don;t attract attention. How do I do this?

I downloaded the beta on ps3 yesterday, and at first, it was a bit weird, but I'm liking it. Definitely picking this and MW3 when they come out.

Yeah, it's D-Up. Took me forever to figure that out for some reason lol. It'd be sweet if you could set it to strobe for a limited time.
