Oh, totally. I'm sure that the script will revolve around Batman and Catwoman (Jennifer Lopez) kidnapping Harvey Dent's mentally challenged son (Justin Bartha) to ensure that Carmine Falcone (Al Pacino) never goes to prison.

It's based completely on the theatrical cut of Daredevil and Gigli. That's really it and it's moronic.

It has nothing to do with Gigli.. It has to do with a superhero role similar to Batman.

It would be moronic to ignore that part of Affleck's resume.

Fantastic Four sucked but everyone was willing to give Chris Evans a shot at Captain America because he clearly did a great job as Johnny Storm.

Affleck as DD? Not so much.

Hmm. This is an interesting and unexpected choice. I would never have thought of him for the role. I guess it's not bad but I'll have to wait and see. I thought he was alright as Daredevil.

But will he get top billing now (will the movie be Batman vs Superman as opposed to vice versa)? He is a bigger star than Henry Cavill and probably more of a box office draw.

He could possibly be the Batman star with the biggest clout when he signed on for the role. All the others weren't as big stars at the time, maybe with the exception of Val Kilmer.

This whole thing makes me want to wait and see how Kevin Smith's smodcast will play out since he and Affleck are friends.

Well I give Snyder and co. benefit of the doubt, they were the ones who saw the auditions, they obviously feel they know what their doing. From the outside though, man... the excitement for me plummeted by at least 50%

Well I'm hoping my shock of the casting works in the same way when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker cause I just couldn't see it and look how it turned out. I actually like that right now I can't see Affleck as Batman with Bale I could so I was expecting great things. Here there's no expectation only curiousity.

It seems to me, they did not give the slightest thought to the character or the story or the script or the direction of the film but just went to find a big shot name and just signed him up thank you please!

It seems so sudden. It seems to me purely a business decision.

My only beef with Affleck as Bats is that should Gosling be Flash and Cooper be GL, Affleck wont be the handsome one (which i think he always is in comics and cartoons). Personally, Gosling and Cooper are wayyyy more good looking than Affleck.

Well, they didn't cast a Bale level actor so in that sense Cavill won't be dominated in scenes but Batman/Bruce.

Affleck - this could go either way. Film's risk goes up I think.

Affleck could wwork or turn WF into a joke.

You know, some of the reactions to this amaze me. Affleck's career missteps have been well-documented but he's also put out some stellar stuff (and not just as a writer/director; if he was such a terrible actor, The Town and Argo wouldn't have been good movies since, ya know, he played the lead). Meanwhile, I've seen people on this board championing guys like Karl Urban, who has been good in some things but awful in others (Chronicles of Riddick, Doom, Priest). And while you can argue that those were simply bad movies, I say this to you: Would Daredevil or Gigli been good films if they starred a different lead actor?

The answer is no.

Its getting mixed reaction just like MOS.

A potential recipe for disaster for WF. Or it could work.

WF is going to be controversial going into the lead-up and trailers or story detail are iffy or if a few bad photos get out this could be a long 2 years.

You obviously weren't in high school or college when Armageddon came out. Girls were OBSESSED with Affleck back then. And sure, he's aged a bit but he's still a handsome dude.

Seriously, people were gung ho about the possibility of BROLIN playing Bruce Wayne and are worried that Affleck isn't good-looking enough?

Can't say this surprises me. They went with a big name instead of building a name. Disappointing, not to take anything away from Ben... I just think it's an extremely conservative move.
