watching argo right now, so far im convinced of his directing ability, not so much his acting yet. good movie so far tho

i really am scared about his voice, like i feel zero strength or bass whatsoever when he speaks, so very far from my ideal batman voice :( im expecting a whispery Keaton-esque batman voice

Grey, someone posted something from his DD days where he does this whisper. It's like one line, but it does give some indication to what he may possibly sound like as Batman. It was a clip on youtube so you might be able to find it. IMO, he didn't sound that bad. He's got a pretty deep voice naturally.

I hope he giggles every time speaks to someone as Batman.

lol idk if it was intentional but i got a hint of affleck poking fun at himself when he asks john goodman "you can teach a guy tobe a director in a day?" and he replies "you can teach a monkey how to be a director in a day" lol

:lmao::lmao:

You know though Grey, I'm in a holding a pattern on Ben. I think if Synder doesn't put too much on him then he should come through fine...at least I hope.

i feel like hes got enough of a shot, hes certainly got the looks, but its easy to be a bit cynical about it. im with you though, heres to praying he pulls it off:brucebat:

Watch state of play and company man as well (or at least clips)

Saw your post and started watching this on YouTube (the whole movie is up in one video). So far, really enjoying it, and Affleck's very good.

Which comes full circle with the last panel of The Killing Joke recreated, Batman laughing uncontrollably with Superman in the rain.

i had a nightmare that Kevin Smith directed the Batman/Superman movie and he put Ben Affleck in grey spandex and black undies. His acting was good, but nobody in the theater could get passed his look.

We won't be getting some Conroy voice. It will be like Keaton's whisper. Ill bet any money on that. Affleck can pull that off, he just doesn't have the voice for a Conroy approach.

His acting in Argo was fine but still nothing great. It was more or less his physique and acting (minus the Boston accent) in The Town that made me think of Batman. If you look at that performance, drop the accent, keep the short hair but of course grow it out a bit more on the sides..he's good to go.

I think that you're right with the voice. Only time will tell though, heh.

I've really liked Affleck's recent performances simply because they weren't over-the-top. We don't need a Batman that's hunting for an Oscar (Spacey in SR is a good example). We need someone that allows the audience to believe that it's Bruce Wayne behind the mask, not an actor. I hope that makes sense.

The funny thing to me is that somehow in Argo, it still feels like Affleck is trying to do subtle. Like, "Hey look at me! I'm giving a quiet performance in an Oscar caliber film!"

I can't put my finger on it, but I just think Affleck is a pretty meh actor overall and I think it's kind of vain of him to not get better actors than himself for the leads in his films.

Yeah, even though im warming up to his performances lately, mainly in his own films, it's still Affleck. He's still an average actor. I agree with that but i dont really think we need a fantastic actor for this new Batman. Quite frankly we're a bit spoilt with getting Bale and Keaton.

The more i think about it the more it makes sense to not have a Bale overshadowing the **** out of Cavill. That would have looked obvious because Cavill was perfect for Superman but he is also just an average actor at this point in his career. He's still young so he can become a much better one but it is what it is. Affleck is older but he's on par with Cavill IMO. It just fits like a glove.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying he'll be a terrible Batman or anything...that's just my overall view of Affleck as an actor. I mean, Christopher Reeve wasn't exactly the world's greatest actor but he IS Superman to most people because he was just the perfect guy to embody that role.

That said, it's a completely different situation Batman, because Batman is more like Bond where you have a bunch of different actors giving different interpretations of the role over the years and people have their favorites and least favorites. There's never gonna be one, definitive on-screen Batman. I don't care if they make Batfleck a carbon copy of BTAS Bats, there will never be a true consensus with the fanbase. You'll still have ardent Keaton fans, Bale fans, etc. Heck, to my dad...Adam West is still the only Batman that matters.

It's subjective, that's the point people are always trying to make. There is no one right Batman, there never has been. There is one that is definitive to you, but not everyone.

There can be a terribly wrong kind though. George Clooney for example.
