Affleck looked a lot like Bruce from the start; so I pretty much figured that, once he got in shape and started to cut, he would look even more like the character. And that appears to be the case. With Cavill already on-board, they're going to have to name this movie Jaw Wars or something.

Man, that is Bruce Wayne if EVER I've seen him. Holy crap. Like, literally a comic book brought to life.

It pains me to say this, but physically, it's a MASSIVE upgrade from this:

bale looked far too gaunt in the second and third films. he looked much more like wayne in the first.

affleck is looking fantastic. but that was never the worry. let's see if he can pull off BATMAN because he definitely can pull off wayne.

I think he will surprise people. The glare he's giving at the fuel station, for example.

Honestly, that's all he needs to do: channel his anger toward the paps; and we have our Batman.

Even though it was just a coincidence of Bale's role in the Fighter causing his gaunt appearance, it sort of works within the realistic confines of that universe. Being Batman would literally drain you physically and mentally to such a degree where you would go from looking young, fresh faced and handsome to appearing gaunt and older than your years.

For starters that is not reflected in the comics, Batman irrespective of what age or state he is, is almost always shown as impossibly buff and imposing - a physical specimen.

And besides, The Fighter would not effect Bale's appearance in TDK or TDKR. TDK and TDKR were shot in 2007 and 2011 respectively and The Fighter was shot in 2009. So it was 2 years removed from either film.

I think his gaunt and less than super appearence might simply be Nolan paying less attention to the physical attributes of a superhero, which is admittedly a more comic book aspect and Nolan never seemed to care about such things. Snyder on the other hand cares the world about the physical attributes of superheros and puts a lot of attention in that direction. Different schools of thought.

I'm still puzzled on what good thru forever means.

I'm more puzzled as to how a masked vigilante has a credit score. Gothcard must have pretty lax signup conditions.

So...who is on board now that wasn't before?

I just want a head count before people start trying to blend in with the crowd who always believed from the start...

I was apprehensive before. I wasn't that vocal about it because I thought I'd come around. It wasn't about his physique. It was more about his acting. I've been on board for a while though.

Anyone else excited that were finally getting a batman in live action that's actually tall?. I can't think of any other actor over 6" who's played batman previously

Afflek does look a lot like Bruce Wayne, but I just don't like his acting

I do... Since his last movies.... Even if i think he is "only" a good actor.

But something tell me that he will blow away people.

He has motivation, that's for sure.

He looks fantastic and yea, i'm confident he's gonna really impress and surprise people.

his batman voice is my worry. i'm not hearing it. i don't want him to go all gravelly like bale, but his regular voice isn't what i imagine from batman.

I was thinking the same thing before hearing the " i have not killed my wife" line in the gone girl trailer. This is not exactly it, but a step in the right direction imo. I think he can do a good Bat voice.

Now my major concern was his ability to project menace, without speaking ...but those last photos are beginning to reassure me.

I honestly maintain that the 'Bale was skinny in TDK and TDKR' thing is a bit of a myth. In truth, he wasnt skinny and he wasnt gaunt - he'd just got those trademark cheekbones that can cut glass back; something he lacked in BB due to his crash weight gai, resulting in the 'rounder' face.

Seriously, can anyone tell me that he looked skinnier than he did in, say, Equilibrium, in the shirtless scene in TDK? Can anyone tell me that he didnt look like Patrick Bateman again in TDKR? Bale was never going to look like the absolute beastly man-mountain that we see in the comics, but he was in shape for every one of the Bat movies that he made.

I thought Bale looked fine in the sequels. I never got or cared for the idea that Bruce Wayne has to look like a body builder in live action.

Bale's cheekbones were even evident in American Hustle, where he had a giant pot belly. It's a talent. :funny:

And of course it figures that the "I hated BB/TDK/TDKR" brigade magically comes out when the new movie starts shooting. :oldrazz:

Let's be honest.

If Batfleck is remotely decent, we will have endless revisionist declarations from trolls that the nolan movies were never good.
