BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman - Part 16

I want Batman to use a lead lined cowl in preparation for meeting Superman. Superman can't see through lead.

How would he know that? So far, Superman did not give an exhaustive overview of his powers and limitations to the world yet like in Donner's film. So unless Bat's has gone from detective to psychic it makes little sense to me. Besides even when he has a full accounting of his powers he'd know that there are literally thousands of ways a being like Superman could use his powers to find out who Batman is. They did that in the books post crisis. Superman brings a book to Batman for analysis (Ma Kent's scrapbook btw) and when they meet up for Batman to give his findings he tells Superman that what he gleaned from the book was that Supes was Clark Kent. As he's flying off Superman lets Batman know that he is aware he is Bruce Wayne. Bruce is stunned, because he HAD lined the cowl he was wearing with lead. Then he thinks "Of course there must be many ways a being like him could have easily figured it out even with the cowl lined."

are we even sure this Superman can't see through lead?

We don't know this superman can't see through lead, but if he can't, perhaps he discovered it at some point in his life. And perhaps...he tells batman about it. Maybe they don't start out as enemies. Maybe batman takes advantage of this and gathers some info like a detective would.

I totally would love to see this be about betrayal and trust like that. Imagine a Batman working WITH Lex to take down Superman at first. Batman gets close, forges a relationship with Superman with plans to turn on him because of the perceived threat. Superman is on cloud nine because he meets a kindred spirit, and in getting to know him Batman realizes that Luthor is wrong. Or perhaps the first attempt by Batman to take down Superman after they seem buddy buddy fails, but puts Clark in an emotional tail spin, cuz he feels betrayed by a friend? Just spitballing, but it's an angle that feels more interesting to me than just they meet, then fight then team up. Though that could work too.

I don't think Superman would trust a masked vigilante with a "unreliable" reputation at first. He will seem cautious too and he won't trust him at first.

We must have mind-melded, Krypton. I had a similar idea. I'd have it start out exactly as you wrote. Batman and Luthor form an alliance or something behind Clark's back. Clark wants to take on Luthor and thinks someone like batman is, as you said, a kindred spirit that will help him. But all the while...they're plotting. Luthor is just pouring poison in batman's ear, so to speak, and encouraging him to see that the alien is a threat. Maybe they try to take supes down and expose their plan. Supes is devastated and so is batman. Supes realizes he didn't have a friend like he thought he did and batman realizes he was wrong.

Found a color image of the Batsuit.:wow:

Hmmmm, that goes against my inside scoop that this is what it looks like in colour....

How the hell would Bats know that he can't see through lead though?

There are hundreds of ways he could know. It's entirely up to the writers. Here's a crazy thought, maybe Superman has actually done things between the fight with Zod and his meeting with Batman. Maybe the Military tried sending one of their drones after superman (as they did at the end of MOS) and they noticed that superman was unable to see inside the ones with lead.
Maybe Batman has sat down and watched all of the footage of Superman that's been recorded, and he notices that he has no accuracy when aiming his heat vision at something behind a lead shield, so he can deduce it himself.

Like I said, he could learn it a number of ways. In a movie like this it's be one of the least difficult things to account for.

Just because there are a number of ways, doesn't mean that they're all logical. The scenarios you point out are illogical and contrived. How could the military even tell that Superman couldn't look inside lead? It's not like lead has a Kryptonite effect where Superman is visibly and negatively affected by the metal. It just blocks him from seeing something.

Also, the connection between Heat Vision and Lead makes no sense, there's no precedence to show that lead throws off Superman's heat vision.

Just because you can't think of a way to do it doesn't mean it can't be done. Where's your imagination? You really think this among all things would be too difficult to explain?. I'd trust the writers to put more effort into it than me, but just off the top of my head, lets say you have one manned drone among a fleet, and you simply show that superman has to investigate each drone before discovering which one is manned. Military would like... 'hey, shouldn't he have been able to tell with his x ray vision? I wonder why he couldn't... maybe its the lead?'

Also, the connection between Heat Vision and Lead makes no sense, there's no precedence to show that lead throws off Superman's heat vision.

You misunderstand me. I'm saying that superman was unable to accurately hit something with his heat vision when it was behind a lead shield, not because the lead affects his heat vision but because he cant see through it.

Because he's Batman is the only reasoning for a lot of fans for why he can do anything. Where as "Because he's Superman" is somehow invalid and boring.

This batgod thing has killed the character for me. He was supposed to be the hero with clearly defined limits.

Have we confirmed that Batfleck is indeed sporting some stubble (or, as I believe it's known around these here parts, "teh scruffy") in the officially released photo of him in the suit?

Improbable wisdom is indeed part of the character in the same way I suppose it's a part of Sherlock Holmes' but take a look at the two series (three if you included HOUSE) that are adaptations of Holmes. In both shows he's still amazing in his intelligence but he also has clearly defined flaws and limitations. Add to it writers seeming need to poo-poo other characters or just have Bruce act like a *****ebag that in the end, never faces any consequences for his *****ebaggery, and it's all a recipe for me to roll my eyes at a character I have loved since I was a child for too often.

He could fight superman whilst facing backwards? That way he'd only see the back of his head?

But seriously, superman should trump batman for most part of the film, and b man should then come back more prepared.

Personally I wouldn't have them fight if this was my movie, I'd have batman visit Clark Kent whilst he's with lois, to have mini chats through out before the climax. Sort of a getting to know you, whilst also seeing who this alien really is. You could have great scenes like lois thinking they've been burgled but the audience know it was batman making it look like that but putting taps everywhere so he has 24/7 audio and access to comps. It would make batman more creepy, keeping him out of shot for most scenes until he decides to meet superman. Cautious and all

Batman is not going to let what Superman did in the first MoS go without doing anything. He destroyed billions of dollars worth of property and killed a person/being.

Not to mention with the events of MoS Batman realizes there is an alien being on this earth who is practically a god. He's going to meticulously stalk this guy and learn every thing about him that he can as well as what can take him down.

In Batman's eyes, Superman is a murderer.

I'm hoping he sees a bigger picture, supes saved every person on the planet. I for one hope he doesn't jump on the lex bandwagon. He should be able to see through BS propaganda. But at the same time be cautious

Umm... By that standard Batman better go after that dude in Gotham that let Ra's Al Ghul die on a monorail after he had a police Sgt. use missiles to take out the tracks. Or that dude that ran over cop cars with cops inside using a tank like vehicle. That's the same guy that supposedly has a strict no guns policy yet every vehicle he owns has them. They are the same type of guns this guy used to shoot at a manned truck to kill it's driver, intentional or not, so he could get a nuclear weapon out of Gotham. Of course this isn't an excuse, that he was trying to save the whole city. It's still MURDER, right? Oh, this guy also fly a military grade aircraft through the city and while evading missiles aimed at him he allowed them to crash and explode into skyscrapers with zero regard to the occupants. That guy, with his reckless disregard for life.... yeah I hope Batman catches him soon. :whatever:

You do understand this is a new incarnation of Batman that has no relation with the Nolan trilogy right?
