I really think some posters on here like to diss Affleck's physique because he chose not to work with Mark Twight.

I guess when I think about it, that may be part of why I'm underwhelmed with his progress. He refused the trainer that the other two took on, because supposedly he had his own trainer. I call BS. He just didn't have the drive to get that fit. He took the easy way out. I've trained on my own and saw much better results than he's had, in a much shorter time. I know he's busy and has a family.

The thing that bugs me most is that his trainer said this would be the biggest, baddest batman yet, and that clearly won't happen naturally. Bale was waaaay bigger in BB than Ben is. I'm just disappointed that Ben didn't put in more effort to get jacked. And yes, he has a slight gut still. Not much at all, but it's still there.

I am looking forward to seeing Batfleck, so don't take this as me protesting the guy or anything. I try every day to convince people I see in public that he's going to be great.

Every actor (or their agent) lies about their height. Christian Bale was once widely said to be 6'2", though most bios now say he is 6'. Did he shrink 2" in two years? I think he's shorter than either of those, to be frank.

Tom Cruise follows a similar story.

I just showed you a better shot of them standing litterally side by side, that is a great shot to judge height by.

You're making it seem as if every shot of Ben and Hugh is photoshopped or something to downplay ben? You've provided abosolutely no evidence that Ben is taller than Hugh, when it seems to be the opposite.

It was a guy called Rehan Jalali who posted it on his Twitter if I'm not mistaken. Presumably, he worked with Affleck when he was filming "The Town".

Mind you Bale at his biggest in Batman Begins was really only for one scene. He slimmed down considerably (as per Nolan's instruction) for the latter half of the movie.

Indeed. The training with the League of Shadows.

And don't forget that it's also factored by the costume and the way camera takes shots and all... Bale actually looked much smaller in the batsuit in TDK and TDKR than he in reality was. He was in great form, but the suit didn't do him any favors, it actually managed to conceal that.

How is someone supposed to read a comment like, "Affleck is walking right now and not posing like Cavill does in every one of his bar pictures?" I'm truly not getting it. What does Henry Cavill generously posing for pictures with fans on his free time have to do with Ben Affleck's physique? What does it have to do with the price of tea in China? Even if there was a legitimate point, it's not like there aren't plenty of candids of Henry Cavill walking around, either. Shocking, I know.

The point was Affleck is walking and is taking a candid picture, he of course is going to look a little "off" or maybe it looks like he has a pot belly to some people because his body is motion . he's not just standing there waiting for a picture to be taken.

I doubt it was Nolan telling him to slim down, but more of Bale doing Rescue Dawn which he had to lose a ton of weight for. Going up and down with your weight so extremely is incredibly unhealthy so maybe he just couldn't get in quite the same shape.

Ha. I mean when people say "nothing can save this movie in my opinion. Ben Affleck as Batman? I won't be watching that." I try to explain that it's been a long time since his questionable movies, and he's grown a lot since then.

Oh, I'm not trying to rag on Bale at all. He definitely had a great shape for the role in the first movie (not so much in the sequels).

I just think Ben has trumped him in most aspects, especially with the suit on.

Rescue Dawn was shot well after Batman Begins wrapped. And it was actually filmed in reverse (i.e. Bale's healthy shape in the movie was filmed later).

If you search around, you'll see Bale mentioning a couple of times Nolan asked him to lose the weight because he looked like "Fatman".

It's Ben's shoulders mostly. His shoulders are WIDE!! With that, his bulk sits much broader than Bale could achieve IMO. Ben is a few inches taller and is just built more like a typical American football player. Am I off base here?

You're not totally off-base. I agree from a physical stand-point Ben has the most natural potential of any past Batman actor and yeah his shoulders, height do play a role.

I just haven't seen the amazing transformation yet from him, that we saw from Bale and Cavil. Two guys who despite maybe not having the natural built that Afleck had, but who put in crazy work.

The pics of ben (out of suit of course), have yet to really blow me away.

So, you're not impressed about Ben's physique because Ben didn't have to work as hard as them because he was already kinda built? I'm curious to know, what's the ideal physique that you would like to see Ben Have?
