I've a marriage license you crazy kids want to get hitched here in the Ben Affleck thread?

It seems that our dearest Ben Affleck aka Batfleck has received a nomination in the category of 'Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor' at People's Choice Awards, so how about showing him and his also nominated movie Gone Girl (Favorite Thriller Movie category) some much deserved support?

Go Beastfleck! Hope you win.

Hell yes! His best performance yet. He just keeps getting better and better.

I'm rooting for him big-time with this movie.

Has he got any chance of major awards? I haven't seen the film yet.

A career defining performance for Affleck. But it's the Peoples Choice Awards tho.....:/

I, sadly, don't think he'll get nominated for any major awards. I would be very happy if he did though.

His reviews are GREAT, critics think it's his best performance yet, brilliant and definitively oscar-worthy. Just check Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. He has a chance and is for sure in the top 10 contenders list but he only issue is that this is an exceptionally tough year for Best Actor (some think the category should be expanded to 10 nominees!) and The Academy has a habit of rewarding actors who interpret historical figures or inspiring characters and though Ben's character in Gone Girl is very complex, it's not exactly inspiring. I personally loved him in the movie though, more so than in Hollywoodland and think he is well deserving of a nomination at least.

I think Best Actor is far too competetive this year for Affleck to land on the list. Great performance, though, and it should assuage some of the doubters' concerns.

But if I may add, Best Actor Drama at the Golden Globes is not a long shot at all, especially since Ben has already won 3 and has also been nominated for Best Supporting actor for Hollywoodland. And let's not forget the Academy SNUB for Best Director, that snub pissed off a looot of people and the voters sometimes pay their debts on delay so who knows.

Performances seen (and praised):

Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything
Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game
Michael Keaton, Birdman
Timothy Spall, Mr. Turner
Steve Carell, Foxcatcher (for some reason they are pushing him for Best Actor)
Ben Affleck, Gone Girl
Miles Teller, Whiplash
Jake Gyllenhaal, Nightcrawler

Performances to be seen:

Bradley Cooper (American Sniper)
David Oyelowo (Selma)
Jack O'Connell (Unbroken)

Stiff competition this year.

That's true too. I'll throw him on the list.

Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler is another performance I would throw in there.
