I'm honestly surprised that they're asking Mel Gibson anything. Haven't they all agreed to collectively ignore his existence?

Apparently, Robert Downey Jr. had thrown Gibson's name out there to direct Iron Man. Mel had replied that he would love to do that and since Affleck is another critically-acclaimed actor turned director like him, he had shared his appreciation for Ben's work, nothing to do with the Batman role really.

Yeah, I heard about that and I like Gibson as director. Unfortunately, I have zero interest in Iron Man 4 though.

I'd prefer an actor who ISN'T known for comedy as Hal Jordan. I'm not saying that a comedic actor can't pull it off, but, there were people who wrote of the GL film the MINUTE Reynolds was announced. Granted, the movie wasn't good anyway, but I still think a lot of people walked into it with their minds made up.
