Just read Batman: Gothic and Batman: The Cult. Loved both.
They're both excellent, particularly The Cult. That's one of my favourites. A lot of content is used in TDK Rises as well.

Decided to start reading Cult after seeing Booms post, it is indeed good so far.

Who was it that was obsessed with Deacon Blackfire during TDKR days? I remember they were convinced that he was going to be the new villain in TDKR. :hehe:

He wasn't any worse than the guy who was convinced that Robin was going to be in the Nolan movies during the TDK days. I guess he got what he wanted, sorta.

The Greatest Stories Ever Told 1 and 2

Never thought I'd see someone who enjoyed DKSA. That book is one of the worst stories I've ever attempted to read. And the artwork makes me nauseous. Lol

I didn't say I enjoyed it. It's in my collection, though.

Ah miss took your collection as a top reads list like everyone elses. The question still remains did you enjoy it?

(And to be fair its also in my collection.)

It's not a patch on the original, obviously. I like parts of it, but not the overall product. Definitely wouldn't recommend it to people who are getting into Batman comics. :hehe:

I'm half-way through Black Mirror right now. It's pretty intriguing so far.

The Cult is underrated. Starlin and Wrightson made a great team. Am I saying Cult is the greatest thing ever? No. But it's solid, with great visuals.

My Favorite Batman Stories:

Batman #321. Joker has a birthday party.
The Brave and The Bold #182. Batman and the Earth-2 Robin team up.
The Brave and the Bold #197. Earth-2 Batman and E-2 Catwoman fall in love.
Steve Englehart DETECTIVE Comics stories with Walt Simonson and Marshall Rogers.
Detective Comics #503. 6 Nights of the Scarecrow.

I was part of the problem, lol. But I didn't think he was TRULY terrible. I just was in the mood for Armitage.

You know, seeing so many different story arcs from Batman's illustrious history posted here, I have to say: re-imagining Bruce as older and seasoned is a very clever way of incorporating many of the character defining moments that shaped him over the years. By contrast, if you're doing an origin story, there's a certain limit as to how much you can draw from the comics and elsewhere.

In light of this current iteration being a man of 45/46, I fully expect the writers to tap into that endless well of source material in a way that is unabashedly faithful.

I thought The Cult was pretty fantastic. It owes a lot to TDKR though.

The cult was great. Art work and storytelling style is reminiscent of DKR. But the story was really good. It was small and personal, and those tend to be best kinds of stories.
Gothic and day of judgement are next on my list to read.

No love for Year Two or Full Circle? I know Y2 has its critics and Davis' mid-run exit definitely hurt it, but it has its moments.

Exactly.

Ben on Kimmel was FANTASTIC. And the "deleted scene" was great...

:lmao:

Instead of branding thugs in the r rated version he will just rip their parts off
