The more prolific Affleck is, the better. He was overexposed when making bad movies and flies under the radar when starring in good ones.
Sorry to beat a dead horset: but I firmly believe that Affleck was chosen for business reasons alone. He obviously did not do a single test, or a costume test or a chemistry test or read the script (it is being written) or anything at all, he was directly made the offer and his lawyers negotiated the deal.
No consideration went in casting Affleck than landing a big A list star and some money matters. They did not think anything besides that.
Apologies if this has been already posted, this just came up on my twitter.

) of WB/DC. Maybe even have a role more akin to Joss Whedon's at Marvel.Yeah, this was posted, but it's nice to bring it up again. It does seem he will be the next Nolan(no pun intended) of WB/DC. Maybe even have a role more akin to Joss Whedon's at Marvel.
"resemblance to the character" is subjective right? also because there have been a million ways Batman has been drawn, almost any candidate could find atleast one image which looks like him in the comics.I think his physical appearance factored into the decision on at least some level. Affleck's not the only A-lister in the business, and money certainly talks. If I'm wrong, it's one hell of a coincidence that the guy bears such a strong resemblance to the character he's portraying. I don't believe in coincidences though.

Just dropping by with this.

WB & Nolan have tried at least twice to get him in the DC fold right? Once to direct Justice League and didn't Nolan approach Affleck to direct MOS before Snyder?
I'm so happy Affleck is in the fold now. And I really do hope he takes on a sort of godfathering of this universe.

t:I'm guessing he wanted to be bruce wayne. Maybe that was the price to get Affleck to direct JLA/Batman solo movies.

Whether they like him or not, most fans can at least agree that Affleck looks the most like Bruce Wayne in and out of the cowl. And I don't agree that any candidate can find an image from the comics that looks just like him. Comic book superheroes usually have a sort of generic look to them: square jaw, straight nose, thin lips, etc. That's one of the reasons Affleck's cranial morphology conforms so well to just about any of Batman's most popular cowls. He doesn't have very distinguishable features, pouty lips (like Welling or Keaton), for example.
^ Good point, Arms.
I personally think Wes Bently looks more like Wayne, but have never been more impressed with the manips of other actors IN the Batman suit.

Keaton had that as well.Okay now I've had a few days to gather my thoughts, I am stoked Affleck is doing this.
At first I wasn't sure, I havn't seen any of his directing debuts as of yet except for Gone Baby Gone which is an absolutely stunning movie. (gonna watch Town and Argo tonight or tomorow.) I believe his talent lies more in directing than acting, but I'm willing to stay open minded, I think the fact he's such an actors director will be a advantage to him playing such an iconic character, and the fact that he accepted the role, at this time, when he's on a high streak and becoming a really well-known Director, says more to me than his acting ability. This move could potentially ruin his career and rep that he's thought so hard to get back, and he knows it. That to me tells me, a) he really wanted it and is fully commited, and b) there must have been something to change his mind given his previous stance on doing another superhero movie.
Also, for a 'older seasoned fighter as they seem to be going for, I think Affleck is the best choice, say what you will but his eyes can definately give off that 'secluded and lost soul' thing.
