Remember, when an actor does one role in a film genre and that film is not a success then said actor can never EVER do a film in that genre again. It's the code of Hollywood.

I know that feeling, bro :cwink:

If you're citing Chris Evans that's a really bad choice since I've used him before as an example of why people shouldn't let Affleck wash his hands from Daredevil so quickly.
Fantastic Four was an awful movie with some of the worst casting choices ever...but Evans was spot on. Some other examples of that happening include Tom Jane as the Punisher, and Mark Strong as Sinestro. Solid casting and performances all in terribly terribly written and directed films.

Keaton was a pretty hot topic, but I think most fans were worried about having another "campy" take on Batman more than anything. They thought they were getting another Adam West version of Batman, cause Keaton was a comedian. I know once people started to see trailers/previews, they really came around to see exactly what Burton was doing.

Everyone has this perception that comedic actors can't do drama, but it's actually HARDER to do comedy than drama, so if an actor has proven themselves in comedic roles, it should actually be assumed that they'll be easily able to make the transition because it takes more talent to succeed in comedy than it does in drama.

This is an accurate sentiment, but as I will continue to point out whenever it is made: the problem here isn't that we've never seen Ben Affleck in this kind of role before. The problem is, we have.
People can make the argument that Ben Affleck has come a long way since then as an actor (something I disagree with)
, but it's important to remember this isn't just fanboys being asked to give an untested actor a chance (which is hard enough already). This is fanboys being asked to give someone a second chance after being burned.

Wash his hands from Daredevil so quickly? It was 10 years ago.

...and?

EDIT: Seriously, if people are still allowed to cite movies like Hollywood Land and Good Will Hunting as an indicator of his acting ability then Daredevil is fair game, period.

From the intensity of the reactions that we have seen, it appears that a LOT of people thought that Bale was coming back.

Boo fricken hoo!

It's the same thing with Superman Returns fans that wanted Routh back for the reboot Man of Steel!

I'm not saying that Affleck wasn't miscast. I'm saying that it's been a full decade. How LONG does Ben have to carry the legacy of Daredevil, especially after directing such hits and working on his career as an actor?

Don't you understand... Actors can never improve, nor can they become better suited to roles at different phases of their careers. Your dislike of and actor that you had when you were a teenager is fully justified 10 plus years later.

If Superman's weird combination of Red/Blue/Yellow and Captain America's US Colors could work, Black/Gray for Batman isn't going to make people freak out.

I honestly thought he was good in The Town, To The Wonder and Argo.

A lot can change in 10 years... Even Affleck admitted it was a bad point in his life. He then went under the radar and reemerged. He has directed three publicly and critically acclaimed, one of which a best picture which he was the lead. And you don't win them if your main star is crap.

My point is he looked done with Comic Book films and even admitted as such. But he is a smart person and he has convinced WB, Snyder and himself that he is up to the task of Batman. Do people here really think WB didn't say "eh, the guy from Daredevil?" when his name was brought up.

They want money. Why would they cast a guy whose last role in a CBM was ridiculed and essentially broke his career? Because he's obviously done/said something that has proved them otherwise.

Plus if Affleck sucks. Bam. That is a big hit to his career again. If he didn't think he could do it, even with a undoubtedly huge paycheck, he would probably pass.

"Actors can NEVER improve"

daredevil wasn't entirely affleck's fault. that writer/director who also did ghost rider kinda ruined it. it was too hokey. like it was a fan film that no one wanted to make or see. i liked that scene where dd chases that thug, beats the crap out of him, then the thug's son walks in and he says "i'm not the bad guy, kid." pretty good scene.

Please. Just please tell me this post is not serious.

I kind of want to see DareDevil but then I look at the red suit and I change my mind.

DD had Rothman's slimy tentacles all over it too. He's even the one that pushed for the theatrical cut.
