 this is some of the most obvious sarcasm I've seen all day, of course it's not serious.

With some of posts over the past few days it has become difficult to distinguish between legit and sarcasm.

Okay. Sorry.

I have been seeing too many troll post and angry reddit users.
I am sorry for forgetting how awesome you are, Krypton.

"Actors can NEVER improve"
What.gif

A reaction from Dr. Cox is always an honor, but Senor Coco En Fuego, I was kidding.

I'm not saying that Affleck wasn't miscast. I'm saying that it's been a full decade. How LONG does Ben have to carry the legacy of Daredevil, especially after directing such hits and working on his career as an actor?

...until I actually feel like he's moved beyond it as an actor? Seriously...I don't think I'm being unfair here. Hell, I'd be open minded if George Clooney was cast in the part considering all he's done as an actor since that film which will not be named.

I honestly thought he was good in The Town, To The Wonder and Argo.
He hasn't been bad in the last roles I've seen him in. He's just been...adequate.

...and?

EDIT: Seriously, if people are still allowed to cite movies like Hollywood Land and Good Will Hunting as an indicator of his acting ability then Daredevil is fair game, period.
the problem is the people against ben bring up movies that are 10 years old like gigli, daredevil, pearl harbor, paycheck, etc.

while people for ben bring up his recent work like argo, the town, the company men, etc.

Well, which ONE is more relevent? :woot:

Pretty much this. They're stuck in a 2001-2003 mentality.

It's ironic, but I think that Ben's career trajectory has been similar to Clooney's, with a rougher earlier phase than George's, but like him he has become more beholden to the overall quality of the films his name is attached to than for a quick payday. The irony is of course how Batman was an important marker in both their paths.

He's not right for the role. You will never convince me he is. He is a terrible actor who can't do serious if his life depended on it. He doesn't have the look, he doesn't look threatening or tough. I'm telling you, Michael Keaton can not be Batman!!!!!!

So Affleck never improved his game from Gigli to The Town, Argo?

Heath Ledger never improved his game from his hammy performance in Lords of Dogtown to TDK?

And some Oscar winners have themselves gone on to be nominated for razzie awards.

It's about finding your strengths in a certain role.

Did Affleck have strengths as DD? Even if he didn't, who cares? Doesn't mean he won't have strengths in Batman.
Halle Berry is great as Storm, **** as Catwoman. Chris Evans was great as CA, passable as HT.

If Alleck has a passionate notion about this, and knows if he has control, he'd be calling on his strengths, which could potentially lead to a great Batman.
He had little fun as DD, but one can easily see it ws an average performance. ..and most of us know he's better than that.

And Clooney has had a lot of success as a director, too.

With the laundry list of people that Ben is on good terms with in Hollywood I think that the net that can be cast for future DCCU movies is about as wide as you can get. He got the Clooney clique, Damon's buddies, Kev Smith's pals. The population of Metropolis and Gotham could be very interesting in the near future.

Definitely. Agreed fully. :cwink:

He kinda sucked as batman imo lol

why is this still an argument? it's done. if you don't like him, don't watch the movie(even though anyone who says they won't will...multiple times). it's this kind of outrage that makes fanboys look like lunatics.

has backlash ever made a studio change their minds?

A lot can change in 10 years... Even Affleck admitted it was a bad point in his life. He then went under the radar and reemerged. He has directed three publicly and critically acclaimed, one of which a best picture which he was the lead. And you don't win them if your main star is crap.
It's happened at least once. Seriously, I've no beef with Affleck's rise as a writer and director...but as an actor.....
I'm going to watch the company men and state of play soon though. maybe I'll change my mind.

daredevil wasn't entirely affleck's fault. that writer/director who also did ghost rider kinda ruined it. it was too hokey. like it was a fan film that no one wanted to make or see. i liked that scene where dd chases that thug, beats the crap out of him, then the thug's son walks in and he says "i'm not the bad guy, kid." pretty good scene.
Not really.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, that movie would have sucked with anyone in the lead but people who think Ben Affleck wasn't *a* problem in that movie need to watch it again. He's bland in scenes that call for drama and his attempts to be intimidating are pretty unfortunate.
There are much better examples of good or rather "well cast" actors in comic book roles that got weighted down by bad screenplays and terrible direction that I've gone through before.

Some are bringing up Hollywood Land and Good Will Hunting as well.

They changed their minds on the Ninja Turtles being aliens back to them being mutants.
