Chapter 45 - The Eclipse, Pt. 2 - Discussion Thread 12/02/08

You know what bothers me? And not just on Heroes. The way on every TV show or movie, a sniper is thwarted due to laser sight. Doesn't laser sight defeat the purpose of a sniper rifle, long distance, covert assassination? If you are going to announce your presence, why not just bust down the door with a shot gun and kill them that way? Plus, why the hell do you need laser sight, when you have a scope on a sniper rifle? Isn't that what the cross hairs are for?

Anyway...I thought the episode was ok, but I agree that they aren't really progressing with the plot. I'm usually ok with them not revealing the answers to everything right away but I wish they'd get back to explaining the formula and why Nathan and Tracy were given powers and the Eclipse and the Catalyst. Heck, I don't even really get what Arthur is really trying to do.

Sure, if you're into serials...shows that by definition are always supposed to be moving forward, completely rewinding its plot and undoing half a season.

I beleive it was an awesome episode, deal with it dude.

Arthur allegedly wants to give everyone powers...yet his accomplishing this by taking away the powers of basically anyone he comes in contact with. Go figure.

There is too many contradictions this season. Spending too much of every episode running around in circles; I feel like nothing was accomplished during these last two episodes.

Totally agree with this. Sometimes there are just some textbook things that can't be avoided sadly.

Matt you speak like you always know the answer to everything. How do you know there are no long term consequences? What has been rewound? I mean, from this episode we dive deeper into Peter's character to be a true hero, we get how Nathan is blinded so much that he seems to be the ultimate device that will allow the "bad" future to occur, we have Claire coming to terms even more with herself and realizing what it truly is to be "special", etc. I could go on about what I gathered from this episode and how it reinforces things, hurts things, sets up future events, but it seems like many people here just ***** ***** ***** without taking things for value, or taking things too literally. The shows fan base has a become a two sided battle in which I feel I stand in the center. Then again, as mind boggling as it is to see how both sides have been reacting to the good and bad, all that really matters is that I have been enjoying the show and haven't gotten caught up in this too deep. To each their own.

People are *****ing because nothing is happening. Sure, long term plots are great but if you accomplish them by having nothing happen in the short term and having no long or short term consequences to your characters' actions on the show (and I can pull out countless examples of how many times that has happened on Heroes), then you have failed as a writer.

what happened at the end? my DVR cut off the last few minutes, last i saw was hiro pointing at baby hiro and baby claire.

Then why not explain why you thought it was awesome? Y'know, try to have intelligent discussion.

I guess that's it. Seeing as how he was partners with Linderman for the NY plan, he must have that Veidt-complex where he is trying to make everything better but will stop at nothing to do it. Now that I think about it, while cliche, that is kinda a cool story for a villain. A man who is doing what he thinks is right for the world, but uses terrible means to get to it. I wish they'd develop that more.

:whatever:Really now, From my count He has taken Peters,Adams, and Maya [who asked for her powers to be gone]. Thats 3 superhumans, two of which were his enemies, and one of which wanted her powers gone. Hell he didn't take Hiros powers, hasn't taken sylars powers, didn't take Nathans powers, nor Knox or flint, nor Elles, and hell the list goes on ****ing on.

Someone is not familiar with the common literary technique called hyperbole...and needs a nap for that matter :oldrazz:

Feel exactly the same. More stalling than anything else.

so you admit that you can't find fault in Arthuers motivations and plans.

I think it is a great concept. But they really don't want to develop it. Instead they simply have him kill established villains to make him appear bad ass?

Plus this role was made for Brian Cox instead of the Brian Cox look alike they have. If it were Brian Cox the character could do nothing but watch paint dry and still be bad ass. :cwink:

To me he doesn't come off as wanting the greater good. In fact, I really don't know his motive. Am I forgeting something? Was his motive revealed? Sometimes I jsut stop paying attention to this show.:cwink:

Seriously... you know how much better this episode would have been if Claire and Sylar stayed dead?

Actually I can. Why did he need to kill Adam? You claim Adam was his enemy, but how so? Adam was no threat to him. Adam could've just given his blood and he would've been fine.

So wait his motive is to give powers to the people right? For good or bad? Damn I need to pay closer attention.

I don't think it has been explained, so don't feel bad.

in other news, finally cracked 1,000 posts, only took over 5 years.

I assume Arthur merely wanted to get rid of Adam, it was probably just a dick head move. He killed Matts dad with little remorse, hell he warped his wife mind for years, wanted to kill his own son, I don't see why him killing adam still surprises you.
