Chapter 59 - "An Invisible Thread" Discussion Thread - 4/27/09

I actually loved this past episode, I found it very suspenseful and entertaining to watch.

And I still think everyone needs to chill and just watch the show without trying to compare it to a comic book that many viewers haven't read. As previously stated, everything on television can be seen multiple times, and superheroes are such a widely used concept that a simple idea can easily be recognized and called 'plagiarism'.

I really don't know too much about comics, just a few I have gotten into which brought me to the Hype, but maybe that's a reason I can enjoy the show.

For example, whenever they turn a book into a movie, people always whine about 'oh no it wasn't as good they left so much out!'. They only say that because they know too much background information. (lol make sense? probably not)

Anyway, my point is, I think fans get too angry about silly things and that just because the people on this site (uh oh i just targeted *prepares for backlash*) feel one way, the show isn't necessarily becoming a disaster. There are other fans as well who are content with the show.

Thank you!!!! The majority of the people that watch this show have never gone anywhere near a comic so they have nothing to compare it too. You can easily compare almost any show to another show or book that has come before it.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. This was a terrible way to keep Sylar around and just shows that the writers can't just let him go. All Peter had to do was pose as Nathan, call off the project then stage Nathan's death. Then Sylar would be gone forever...but no, he's already "back"

Sylar can't be killed(at least not easily). Hrg knew it and they would of had to do some type of mind wipe either way.

I know Heroes recycles comic storylines but those are recycled themselves so it often doesn't bother me.

I think Hrg does need to be killed off eventually - the bad / good dad storyline has played it's course.

Also Peter and Sylar need to have a real fight and we need a villian that can outshine Sylar for at least a season.

He can be killed. Just because he moved the spot? Incinerate his body. Freeze him and shatter him. Liquefy him under ****ing pressure. do something! Obviously shooting or stabbing him doesnt work so get creative.

Just watched the finale. It was ok, but Noah completely ignoring how Claire's blood is able to resurrect and heal the recently deceased (being the recipient of that treatment he is hardly likely to forget), so he could keep a man alive that he has spent the last couple of seasons trying his best to kill, annoyed the bloody hell out of me. So has Sylar's apparently improving on the shape shifting power he stole so he can morph his clothes at will too...

Would also have liked to have seen a good deal more of the battle, but I guess with Peter and Nathan being more than a little outclassed it would have been awkward showing it without thinking Sylar could have just waved his hands and frozen the pair where they stood (or flew as the case may be)

Ah well, I do hope it gets another run and hopefully the writers will look at this sort of thing and any past mis-steps and try to avoid such blips in future. Whatever the errors they have made over the last few arcs the series still has great potential.

I took it as under his chin. Peter said something like "I have all your memories. You didn't think I'd know about that?"

You know, the more that I'm thinking about this, the more I think the Nathan/sylar thing could make for a helluva story. I just think it was kind of a weird way to end the season... it would've been a better midseason finale and then the rest of the season would be the inner-struggle of Nathan/Sylar.

I believe he said "Didnt think Id take that one did you?" I think me meant the shape shifting power. He could only take one power from Sylar, not all of them, and Sylar probably didnt expect Peter to want that one

Read the original ending to Terminator Salvation. It's essentially the same thing.

Read Watchmen. Having a rich, powerful, former superhero try to blow up New York City in a desperate bid to save the world is the except same thing as Veidt sending an alien to NYC to kill everything on impact.

Then there's Brundel Fly and the aneurysm thing from Lost. It's plagiarism.

There are two levels to fanboy reaction:

A.) Overreaction: Here, a fanboy wants a direct translation of the source. Same locations, same dialogue, etc. These people should be shot.
B.) Normal: If the basic gist of the source comes across and the creators actually respect the source material with their adaptation, then that's a-okay. This group of people aren't going to flip **** just because Dan and Rorschach aren't under water when Dan flips out.

However, all this doesn't mean jack **** when it comes to Heroes. This multimillion dollar budgeted show is held to higher standard because they are replaceable. I make (made) a choice to watch Heroes at 9PM instead of 24. Let's hope NBC decides to put the extra money they're saving from the ep cut and put it to something worth watching.

Anyway, my point is, I think fans get too angry about silly things and that just because the people on this site (uh oh i just targeted *prepares for backlash*) feel one way, the show isn't necessarily becoming a disaster. There are other fans as well who are content with the show.

Yes, this show is a disaster. They didn't show the goddamned fight. Claire's blood could've healed Nathan, which would've given Peter, Noah, and every other goddamn character a chance to finish Sylar once and for all.

If you can't pick up on this, then you're as blind as Anne Frank.

I believe he said "Didnt think Id take that one did you?" I think me meant the shape shifting power. He could only take one power from Sylar, not all of them, and Sylar probably didnt expect Peter to want that one

Sylar should still have all of his abilities. So there is still a chance for Peter to be bad ass again. They owe us that much

I do not think Heroes will be cancelled.

It will have to be eventually. The viewership drops significantly every week. Seeing the ratings on wikipedia from Volume 1-Volume 4 is actually kind of sad. Well at least I thought it was sad until this finale convinced me the show deserves to have the ratings drop that much.

Yeah, no way does Heroes make it to season 5, sadly. The ratings are low and even the fans are questioning things. Seeing how there are shows with low ratings that the fans still love that are dropping like flies, I cant see Heroes being an exception.

The episode did seem like something that should of been in the mid-season.

See, it's things like that that make me wish I was on the writing staff. Any of my other favorite shows, I'd never do. LOST? No way. BSG? Never.

Why? Because I love them so much, and they were already so well done, that I'd feel like the dumbest person in the room.

But Heroes... Heroes already seems to be written by mostly dumbasses, so my imput would probably end up improving it...

i dont even watch chuck and i'm liking it better.

i guess Im gonna start watching 24

God damn it, I hate Sylar now.............

Sylar was one of those evil guys you like, but you can't have the bad guy kill a guy like Nathan, than the bad guy becomes unlikable. I started to hate Sylar when he killed that waitress girl that Hiro was in love with, but I forgave Sylar for that since she wasn't an important character............ but killing Nathan, especially since "the actor" playing Nathan is still around and will be in the show is just plain stupid..

BRING NATHAN BACK......... NOT HAS A SYLAR INFECTED NYLAR........ I WANT NATHAN BACK

I believe he said "Didnt think Id take that one did you?" I think me meant the shape shifting power. He could only take one power from Sylar, not all of them, and Sylar probably didnt expect Peter to want that one

What I want to know is why was Sylar bugging out when he touched Peter. Seriously, what about touching Peter made his shape shifting go haywire?

maybe when you shapeshift you get a mental image of what your becoming, and when he started to become Peter, he knew something was up, and started to panic, losing some control of his shape.
