There's so many things to love: DAT voice! Bale wearing Val Kilmer's suit! Amy as Rachel!![]()
That is pretty much how he sounds in Begins. Why oh why didn't they leave his Batman voice like that? It's perfection.
Thought he said she was doing them a favor.Wow Amy Adams auditioned for Rachel like how Henry Cavill auditioned for Batman
Yeah Amy wasn't auditioning. She was just reading Rachel's part as a favor to the casting director.
My favorite for some reason is the "swear to me" part.![]()
She was still connected to the Nolan Bat Trilogy somehow. Talk about 6 degrees of separation!

"She explains that she knew the casting director for Batman Begins, who asked her to come in and read lines with all the actors auditioning to play Batman. When she read with Christian Bale, she began to cry. Director Christopher Nolan told her the scene didn’t require crying, but she was so moved by Bale’s connection to the material that she couldn’t help herself.
I’m sure Bale would have gotten the part regardless, but Nolan had to be extra impressed with his future Bruce Wayne’s ability to move incredible actresses to tears.
Adams was never actually up for a part in the film; Nolan wrote the part of Rachel Dawes with Katie Holmes in mind, so it’s not like she lost out, and she explains that very thoughtfully in the video. But of course she says she’d like to work with Nolan in the future, which would be excellent for me, because I love it when my favorite actors and directors collaborate."
That sucks. I should have known it'd be ripped from Batman News and put on YouTube sooner or later though :\
If only Amy was Dawes.. That audition was awesome to watch
Cool audition tape. I would've liked Bale in a suit more like Kilmer's. And Adams would've been better as Dawes than either Holmes or Gyllenhaal.
How could Nolan write Dawes with Holmes in mind? What did he want her in that movie for?
Katie Holmes wasn't Christopher Nolan's choice; she was imposed on him by the studio from the get go. WB had found out that a demographic remained impervious to these superhero films: teenage girls. Therefore they tried to lure this audience by casting an actress which starred in a popular teen TV series (Dawson's Creek).
