I would infract for either of those. That being said, it's alot easier to just IGNORE someone instead of being snarky and starting a fight.

I agree, but it's also a lot more boring. People need to develop thicker skins and not except to not be offended.

Probably not... but iI've never been infracted for anything that I've said to another poster but I have gotten warnings for being part of a conversation that were apparently offensive or out of hand... So what is the need to warn or infract me? Wouldn't it be easier to just have the person who is offended ignore me?

If I'm having a rousing debate about something isn't that okay? Even if we're insulting each other. If we are too insulting or if we offend someone they can just ignore us... Right?

Well even good debates that include insults aren't flaming, but I'm talking about just have debates about things we're a mod has come in and told everyone to chill. I don't think that anyone was being insulted directly in those cases just opinions being shared. For instance if I called you a:

"Socialist." or a "Christian"

I might find that very offensive where other people might not find it so offensive. So it's hard to tell whether or not someone felt insulted in those conversations but that's just my point... If someone feels insulted they can ignore the other person that they are talking with and not have to worry about it.

Why should someone get punished for the way another person feels?

Well, to be clear on it, as you said....it was a "warning"....and it wasn't exactly the "city" you were talking about, but the "citizens".....of which we have several here on this site.

Plus, Hunter isn't one to just shoot off the infraction gun.....which he didn't....hence the "warning".

It's not about being prim and proper, it's about being civil and respectful. It's not that hard to have incredibly passionate debates and still be civil and respectful.
