is there anyway to stop people making two consecutive posts in a thread to stop double and triple posts.

it also stops people bumping their own threads which have died and promotes them editing in their last post to add more stuff instead of having three consecutive posts?

I guess the only place this may be an issue would be in the fanfiction area where a character limit would prohibit entire stories being told in a block. Could the limit be taken off for fanfiction sector?
This would be a concern for me. I update my fanfic each week and while I get a lot of hits, I don't get a lot of feedback. Most of my posts are consecutive but with a week or so in between each post.

The same for my FairTax Thread, I will update it with news as it's availible.

Somepeople don't go into the Diner.

So on behalf of the SHH Posters, let me go ahead and let's do that silver/gold/green namie thingie, but make it for people 4 years and over so it will include me.

We are going to go ahead and do that closing a thread, and the closing mod has to be the last post and state reason for same.

Can I get a second?

Not to be a dick, but who exactly decided that you speak on behalf of SHH posters?

That's why i said either the limit of texts in a post should be taken off in fanfiction or if the rules shouldn't apply to that forum.

but the amount of times people end up double posting seems like something that could be controlled.

I mean there is a timer set on how often you can post on the board at like ten seconds.

why not place a timer on how often you can post consecutively on a thread to like a minute which would stop the probability of double posts occuring.

It seems like a real easy thing to program in to sort out once you understand the logic behind it. It's like being unable to start a thread when you register to stop bots from creating thread all over the place.

This is the kind of alienating post that's not required.

We're here to get provide and get 'Feedback', not to be dictated to. Why not enlighten us to a little reasoning behind this.

It'll be invitaton only. It could be a diversary means to dealing with trouble makers with rewarding them with a carrot over a stick method.

Again it could be on an invite only basis where mods first invite people in and then suggestions are made for newer members to join up.

I was joking with Erz about LSP. I think it was pretty obvious, so it wasn't any time of "alienation" it was a joke. I don't know how it would even come off as being dictated too.

Well, it would be handy of we could delete our own posts. That way we could remove the doubles and triples ourselves. :)

that would be handy although it breeds far more problems of people 'removing' evidence of stuff they got in trouble for and then denying all knowledge it actually happened. (although technically you could do the same thing with the edit button but you can see you've edited it).

Not to try and sound melodrammatic but the points raised about that forum were first mentioned by myself in this thread, which erz then followed up on.

any answer you give (in this type of thread) is going to be directed to all people making the same points.

I can understand it was an in joke but to me you said, 'Screw your idea, if you don't like it, then **** off', which then further pushes the boundaries between moderators and posters since you seem to take nothing on board for no real reason.

You need to understand it's a feedback thread rather than a 'nugdge-nudge-wink-wink' thread so any views you provide are going to be reflective on the site's moderation.
It's no big issue but I thought it needed some clarification

How about a Philosophy/Science forum to keep Community more lighthearted and those threads from sinking into the abyss?

Make it a sub-forum of the politics section.

I hadn't realized you mentioned it above which is why you didn't see my reply directly to your post and only quoted Erz.

I think it is going overboard to say a joke is reflective on the site's moderation, what does it reflect, we like to joke around and try and have fun.
