Contest Of Marvels II Discussion Thread

For Rogue, I say go with the classic Ms. Marvel version.
Classic villain Juggernaut.
Cable (Burnt Offering) is probably too much. It took the Surfer to beat him (although I can't remember how).
Metal winged version of Archangel.

This is the next list so no one would put them under their potential list and Nate Grey is there....

Other X
Abyss, Adam-X, Amelia Voght, Beak, Caliban, Callisto, Captain Britain (Brian Braddock), Chód, Corsair, Count Neferia, Danielle Moonstar, Deadpool, Domino, Douglock, Dust, Elixir, Fantomex, Feral, Gateway, Hellion (Julian), Hepzibah, Ikaris (Jae Guthrie), Jesse Bedlam, Karima Shapandar, Karma, Kazar the Savage, Kylun, Lockheed, Magik (Amanda Sefton), Magik (Illyana Rasputin), Magma, Maverick, Meggan, Meltdown, Mercury, Monet St. Croix, Mondo, Multiple Man, Nate Grey, Penance, Pete Wisdom, Prodigy (Academy X), Random, Raza, Richter, Rockslide, Shard, Shatterstar, Shanna the She-Devil, Shola Inkose, Siryn, Skin, Stepford Cuckoos, Strong Guy, Sunspot, Surge, Synch, Tag, Wallflower, Warlock (New Mutants), Warpath, Whither, Wind Dancer, Wolfesbane

Drop

Forge- He could easily be abused like Strange or Loki.
Xorn II- His powers are still very vague to me. Do we know any of his limits?
Lifegaurd- Her powers a pretty ambiguous. She's the mutant version of the Answer pretty much.
Maggot- I don't see him going too far. I'd rather not have the earlier rounds filled with such cannon fodder characters.

Potentials

Wallflower- I really liked what I saw in the HoM issues of New Xmen
Rockslide- He'd probably last longer than most contestants think
Captain Britain- Has he been brought up before? Or are we going to wait 'till later?
Monet St. Croix- She's pretty well rounded
Black King I- He'd give the scrappers some trouble for sure
Siryn- She has the same set of powers as her father, but her personality is pretty different.

I'm okay with these two:

Rogue (Ms. Marvel)
Juggernaut (Villain)

Just remember that they'll have no knowledge of things that came after those time frames, and they'll have no resources that came later as well.

And if Cable (Burnt Offering) is too much, then what version should we go with? What timeframe? He was pretty tough during the Onslaught-Twelve era. That was a step below Burnt Offering I think.

She's more than the Answer. She started off that way, adapting to whatever the situation called for, but in her last view appearances we learned that she was half Shi'ar royalty, giving her a more feral attack method, sharp claws, a blood lust, etc. She was an awsome character that needs brought back, and I think she can make it far in this thing.

Look at the post above yours. The only one missing is Black King.

I thought the Shi'ar thing was a bit convoluted to be honest.

Oops. I missed that. Good to see that I'm not the only who wants to see them in the competition.

It never got the chance to be convoluted. They started the story and then they took her off the book before they can dig into it and flesh it out.

Maybe I'm forgetting the storyline, but I just feel that it would have been easier to just say that her powers were mimicking that of Shi'ar's physiology, than for use to hear some long-winded story about her being part Shi'ar naturally.

There wasn't even a long winded story. She just changed on instinct and the X-Men who were around saw the royal markings on her face, showing her to be of royal blood. That's actually as far as they got. It was a mystery to her and her brother too, but they left the book before we could learn the story. All we know is that she's the daughter of either D'Ken, Lilandra, or Deathbird, and that's it. Sorry, I'm just bitter because I absolutely LOVED her character and they just dropped her without furthering what could have been a great story.

Ok, my memory of that storyline isn't very good. I understand how you feel though. I hate danglers in comic book series.

Where's Phaedrus been? Anyways here's my votes...

New list up. Sorry about before, I have a few things going on now, and my presence on the hype have diminished.

So much so, I am having difficulty keeping my picture thread updated.

Other X

Keep

Abyss (AoA) - The AoA version was much cooler
Adam-X
Caliban
Callisto (Pre M-Day)
Captain Britain (Brian Braddock)
Chód
Count Neferia
Danielle Moonstar (Pre M-Day)
Deadpool
Domino
Dust
Fantomex
Hellion (Julian)
Jesse Bedlam
Karima Shapandar
Karma
Kylun
Magik (Illyana Rasputin)
Magma
Maverick
Meggan
Meltdown
Mercury
Monet St. Croix
Mondo (AoA) - Again, the AoA was more trained and a better character
Multiple Man
Nate Grey (Pre-Shaman) - The Shaman power-level was way too uber
Penance
Pete Wisdom
Prodigy (Pre M-Day)
Random
Raza
Richter (Pre M-Day)
Rockslide
Shard (Hologram) - Is hologram the right word? It's during the X-Factor days
Shatterstar
Shola Inkose (Pre M-Day)
Siryn
Strong Guy
Sunspot
Surge
Synch
Tag (Pre M-Day)
Wallflower (House of M) - Obviously a strongly offensive version
Warlock (M-Tech) - Warlock after Douglock, more recent with all memories
Warpath
Whither (Pre M-Day)
Wind Dancer (Pre M-Day)
Wolfesbane

Drop

Amelia Voght - She teleports but that's it, seldom offensivly, if ever
Beak - Lame Factor
Corsair - Dude with a gun doesn't get very far
Douglock - Already have Warlock up there
Elixir - Not a very offensive character
Feral (Pre M-Day) - I've never liked the character and we have enough feral cat-like characters don't we?
Gateway - Dues Ex Machina with little information provided
Hepzibah - Just a cat chick that I don't care about
Kazar the Savage - Don't see him going beyond round 1
Lockheed - Lame factor
Shanna the She-Devil - Don't see her making it beyond round 1
Skin - I love the character, but he won't offer much to the tournament

Not Sure

Ikaris (Josh Guthrie) - Love the character but he's done little offensively
Magik (Amanda Sefton) - Do we need two Magiks
Stepford Cuckoos - It doesn't seem fair to have all three of them together

Potential
The only one I can think of is Darwin, from Deadly Genesis. I'm not sure how much info is out there on him, but he can adapt to any situation to survive. Could be handy.

Actually, why is Neferia on that list? He should be in the villains list if anywhere. Not sure why I did that.

Other X

Keep

Abyss (AoA)
Adam-X
Caliban
Callisto (Pre M-Day)
Captain Britain (Brian Braddock)
Chód
Count Neferia
Danielle Moonstar (Valkyrie)- She was much more powerful when she was a valkyrie
Deadpool
Domino
Dust
Fantomex
Hellion (Julian)
Jesse Bedlam
Karima Shapandar
Karma
Kylun
Magik (Illyana Rasputin)
Magma
Maverick
Meggan
Meltdown
Mercury
Monet St. Croix
Mondo (AoA)
Multiple Man
Nate Grey (Pre-Shaman) - How was Shaman- Nate too uber? I thought all he had was the ability to not be burned out by his powers?
Penance
Pete Wisdom
Raza
Richter (Pre M-Day)
Rockslide
Shard (Hologram) - Hologram would be correct.
Shatterstar
Shola Inkose (Pre M-Day)
Siryn
Skin- I really think he'd be a better competitor than you're giving him credit for.
Strong Guy
Sunspot
Surge
Synch
Three-In-One: I really don't think they'd have that much of an advantage given that together they're not stronger than Emma or Jean. The only people that would struggle against them are fist fighters.
Wallflower (House of M)
Warlock (M-Tech)
Warpath
Whither (Pre M-Day)
Wind Dancer (Pre M-Day)
Wolfesbane

Drop

Amelia Voght
Beak
Corsair
Douglock
Elixir
Feral (Pre M-Day)
Gateway
Hepzibah
Kazar the Savage
Lockheed - Lockheed isn't lame!
Shanna the She-Devil
Random- Same reason I don't want the Answer or Lifegaurd
Tag- What would he do? Make the enemy run off a cliff?
Prodigy- He'd be slaughter by any non fist fighter in this competition. To be honest, it'd be an uphill struggle for anyone to be convinced he could take some of the fist-fighters we already have. (Elektra, Ironfist, etc.)

Potential

Darwin- He'd be awesome. Darwin's abilities would force people to really take the enviroment into consideration.

Wild Child- Admittedly we've been overrun by the sheer number of feral fighters, but he was once on Alpha Flight and he's fought with Sabretooth several times.

I was always under the impression that he became more powerful, almost to a Phoenix level (actully, they said that pre-Shaman the closest signature to his was Phoenix). I could be wrong.

Skin- I really think he'd be a better competitor than you're giving him credit for.

If you guys think he'd do better than I do, then I'm game. I do love the character after all

Three-In-One: I really don't think they'd have that much of an advantage given that together they're not stronger than Emma or Jean. The only people that would struggle against them are fist fighters.

Again, if everyone else is, then I'm okay with this

Lockheed - Lockheed isn't lame!

Okay, lame wasn't the right word. Maybe ineffective?

Tag- What would he do? Make the enemy run off a cliff?

Yeah, actually. He's actually a tough guy to beat. If his opponant isn't a strong telepath, then he's a formidable foe. Run them off a cliff, or into an electric fense, or into the ocean. If you get creative with the guy, he can be a real threat. I'd put him fairly high on my list. Grrr... I'm still mad at them just killing him off.

Wild Child- Admittedly we've been overrun by the sheer number of feral fighters, but he was once on Alpha Flight and he's fought with Sabretooth several times.

I think he was on the Alpha Flight list, because I remember debating whether I wanted the X-Factor version or the Weapon X version.
