Guess we'll have to wait until upfronts in May for official confirmation, but given that the show's survival seems based upon his and Paul Wesley's continued involvement, I have to imagine he's got it right.

Kind of wish they had given us at least a little bit more about just what that was in the vault, so we'd have a bit more to chew on going into S8 than just "Oh, those two vampires with the loosest morals and an already large body count between them have decided to double down on murder."

That's what I read. I just assumed it was recycled dialogue from previous episodes, but I guess not.

Unrelated note, but I love how Tumblr fangirls whine about the writers not letting Bonnie be happy. Because A.) characters like Elena and Matt have clearly had the best lives ever and B.) the only surefire way for any character to be happy on this show is if they leave Mystic Falls and the Salvatore brothers in their rear view mirror. She's basically the female lead now, she's getting plenty of story and screentime, she's forged a relationship with Damon that doesn't make her seem as doe-eyed and airheaded as Elena did, and she's got a love interest that isn't as whiny and awful as Jeremy was. Bonnie is f***ing winning.

They really need to end this show. How many times do we see the same recycled storyline over and over?

Main cast member turns evil because they are possessed and/or turn off their emotions. They get saved and then back to status quo.

So Julie's been posting pics of a pre-season dinner with herself, Kevin Williamson, the cast, Phoebe Tonkin, Nikki Reed and the girl from Containment who is in the lab with Jana. Given that she's the odd woman out in terms of not being or (presumably) dating a castmember, I wonder if she'll show up in S8 too.

Kevin Williamson will also be writing for the show again.

8 years is a great run. As much as I love this show it's time to put it to rest. Williamson back in the fold is excellent news.
