Dead Space 3 - Part 1

Yeah, that 30 seconds of footage is pretty decent. :o

I thought the story of Event Horizon was fantastic, but it just didn't pan out well in the execution, particularly towards the ending. It gets pretty ridiculous by the end.

Yeah you are right, conceptually
the chaos dimension is creepy as all ****
but the movie doesn't exploit to its full potential.

I love most movies Sam Neill is in.

I do rather like the whole Event Horizon takes place in the Hellraiser universe theory that I've heard people throw around.

Maybe it's because of all the high praise I kept hearing about, setting up unrealistic expectations, but I think Event Horizon is absolutely terrible.

"Yeah, dude! It's TOTALLY as good as the Alien movies!"

Damnit, now im not sure iv even seen Event Horizon. People talking about hellraiser and stuff. I think maybe it was Sphere that i saw.

So Pure survival is a decent challenge. I keep running low on health. Meanwhile I have around 10k of scrap metal. :p So far I just finished my second fight with the snow beast and am about to start up the mountain.

I'm finding Pure Survival is actually much easier. But, I'm playing with a friend, so there's that. But still, we're finding crazy amounts of materials, enough that we are constantly building random blueprint guns just to try them.

Its got a few good moments and some nifty ideas but otherwise its simply decent, not bad and not great while managing to not be mediocre either. If somebody tried to sell it to me as being as good as Alien/s I think I would dislike it a whole lot more.

That's interesting. Can you elaborate on this?

Its been a while since I read it laid out but the gist was that the chaos dimension was simply the Hellraiser realm that the ship accidentally entered. I think I remember it being posited that the crazy Weir that shows up at the end after getting sucked out into space was a Cenobite. There was a bit more but I don't recall the rest off the top of my head.

I hope they patch the co-op freezes and crashes friggin ASAP. It's super annoying. My friend and I freeze quite often when using benches together.

To add to that, it's super annoying when combined with the absolutely idiotic checkpoint system. My friend an I were playing Carver's last mission (which is stupid hard if you don't have a lot of resources) and after we finally beat it we froze on the last bench leading out. When we came back to the game, it put us back before the start of the Co-Op mission. That's just absolutely friggin stupid.

I started playing co-op recently and this is MINOR but I kind of wish I could see the other player using their UI and getting audio transmissions and the like.

You can see their audio transmissions at least. I noticed when my character talk, I see the audio signal in front of my co op partner.

I had one freeze on me during my 20 hour co-op run. It was at the very beginning when we exited the game, my system froze. Thats it tho, didnt experience any others. Do both of you have your game installed?

I do, he doesn't. Install or not, it shouldn't just crash like that. It's not like it does it every 5 minutes but it's more often than it should be in my experience. Our last session crashed 3 times in about 3 hours. It's almost always when one or both of us is using a bench.

He never installs games because he doesn't have the HD space, but we play tons of other co-op and competitive games without crashing issues.

Thats awesome. Im gonna have to check that game out eventually.

I ran through the game on co-op, I see what Pat meant when it is just as weird how the game ignores Carver at times as it is when he sort of magically appears alongside Isaac while playing singleplayer.

That will suck if true, but that article seems like a load of garbage to me.

"Weapon-specific ammo was allegedly switched for generic ammo late in development, too, as a method for shoehorning in the game's controversial micro-transactions."

WTF does this even mean? Generic ammo has absolutely nothing to do with microtransactions...it seems to me like much of the article is just drawing its own conclusions rather than actual journalism.

Yea im not buying that.

"While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA."

EA responded to the article saying "While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA."

So I'm assuming he was talking out of his ass.

What a s**tty journalist. One of the earliest details released was universal ammo. :D Plus if anything, having weapon-specific ammo would have most likely encouraged people to pay for resources to craft ammo for each individual weapon.

Exactly. I dunno what's worse: the original article or the fact that Gamespot re-published the same trash. Good grief.
