Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 4

Now would be the most opportune moment for them to make such a show. Laurels stock is quite high ATM, to say the least. They have to strike while the iron is hot.

Didn't Geoff Johns say they'd be announcing a new DCTV show soon?

Yup. Do you think it will be Birds of Prey? I would be surprised, but you never know. I would love one. I think KC has it in her to lead such a show.

You mean like all the fans who were outraged about Laurel in season 2, and wanted her to die at the hands of Deathstroke? :whatever:

I don't think it was that many people or many of those have come around. I think Laurel has become quite the fan favorite.

There was definitely a significant number. I enjoyed her character and storylines back then and used to disagree with a lot of the complaints. A lot of those people probably hate Felicity now instead and like Laurel, while they probably hated Laurel in season 2 and liked Felicity and Sara back then, due to the heavy drama with both Laurel and Felicity at various times that these fans seem to hate.

Why would they delete this scene? This scene is SOOOO good!

That was a very good scene. They should have left that in. It isn't surprising they didn't, as they regularly do silly things. Katie is very good with the emotional scenes IMO.

"It's ok, I am just happy someone didn't break in and kidnap me" :funny:.

That would be an interesting one. I do think Cassidy has what it takes to lead, and given the state of the DCCW, I think you could easy do a better Birds of Prey show than what we got before and maybe find some way to bring the Huntress back into the fold.

That said, I doubt we'd get an Oracle, no matter what winks and nods we've gotten to the Batman world, especially with Gotham still going strong. And while there's no Barbara Gordon on Gotham yet, I'm betting there's still some red tape to get around if a new Birds of Prey wanted to use Oracle.

That would be awesome! With Katie Cassidy returning as Laurel Lance as Black Canary of course (I'd be happy if they just completely skipped over explaining her resurrection - just wave it away as a consequence of all the time travel shenanigans that the Flash, the Legends and others get up to). Nyssa and a re-written Huntress could form the core team. With plenty of special guest appearances from Vixen, Katana, Hawkgirl and others.

I think Birds of Prey would be a good choice, since they probably don't have the budget for another show with a "super" hero as the lead. So, three core leads with street-level powers, with occasional guest appearances by more "super" individuals, may be a good way to go. And if they make it clear that the roster is changeable, then they can always switch things up to change the cast dynamics, storylines, etc.

Ive been wanting a BoP spin off especially since it would've been a natural progression especially with them not doing BC/GA, but it isnt going to happen.

Indeed. I wouldn't mind so much the hatred of the bad drama plots. I mean, *I* hated those plotlines, too. I thought the entire main plot with Felicity in season 4 was abominable. Unfortunately, it really seems like most of the detractors don't admit/recognize this, and personalize their hatred at Felicity, rather than the nonsensical plots she is saddled with.

Birds of Prey would be ideal. I know she's not a member, but since they probably aren't bringing in Barbara Gordan, Caitlin as Killer Frost would work too. The writers only gave Caitlin two episodes this season and they really stood out. She, like Laurel, is a huge fan favorite. People love to see Caitlin as Frost kick butt and taking names. I am really curious what they are gonna do with her because the Flash writers seem to be all about the olicity I mean, westallen pairing while precious screen time could be used for more character development. Whenever Caitlin gets any, it's memorable.

Annnnnnd, Arrow S3 transformation = Laurel into BC

Flash S3 transformation = Caitlin into KF.

The last Birds or Prey TV series didn't do very well though. It only lasted 13 episodes before it was cancelled. It came out one year after Smallville, and had a lot of the same tone, so it's not like
people weren't ready for superhero shows yet. Especially since Smallville lasted 10 season. Probably WB wants to do something more original and less risky.

An interesting choice would be Jonah Hex. He seems to have been well liked from his LoT appearances, Westworld is doing well in the ratings and the Magnificent Seven movie did well at the box office.
Maybe it's time for a network show with a sci-fi - western theme.

That birds of prey show did not have the same tone as Smallville. Smallville was light and superhero-y. BoP was feux gritty and mostly street level.

I think a proper Birds of Prey show would work now though. It very much might have just been a situation where "the world wasn't ready". Not just the average viewing public, but producers in general not having faith in adapting the source material.

You mean adapt a character for a solo series whose movie bombed at the box office but they wouldn't want to rrboot BoP?

BOP was executed poorly and that is why it did not work out. It is not like there is anything fundamentally wrong with the BOP concept. Even Batman does not turn out well when executed poorly (BF and B&R). If Berlanti and co were to take a stab at it, I am sure it would work out well. He has the track record to back that up.

It was clear that people tuned out due to the show being written poorly. It opened to GREAT numbers, over 7mill for the pilot episode. So people were certainly interested.

That BOP show wasn't bad, but you had to accept both Batman and Green Arrow would both turn kind of a blind eye to a lot of stuff. Maybe if they could get away with Batman like they do Supergirl on Superman it would work.

On Katie Cassidy’s unique return to the “Arrowverse” after Laurel Lance was killed off:

We made a deal at the end of that season to bring her back for a bunch of episodes. Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that’s ever been a part of the key and core ensemble has always had a place at the table for our show.

There’s the capacity for her to be [in all four shows]. At this moment, she’s in three of them.

Sounds like they got rid of the whole "regular across all shows" crap they were spewed for her, Barrowman, and whatshisname.

Following his appearance at the Television Critics Association winter press tour (for The CW’s “Behind The Heroes” VFX discussion/demonstration), Arrow co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim was asked about the aforementioned overshare. “Without commenting on the promo, which I have nothing to do with…,” he diplomatically responded, “[and] without commenting on the spoiler, I would say that the episode ends with laying a very specific seed, with a very specific game plan on our part that we hope to see come to fruition.”

Asked if a Canary might suit up as soon as by Season 5’s end, co-showrunner Wendy Mericle told TVLine, “There’s definitely a possibility.”
The EP went on to note, “Look, it’s hard to do a show about Green Arrow without having a Black Canary. I don’t know if it will happen this season or when, but… we are going to be true to origins in the DC universe, and she’s always going to be there.”

Oh MG.....oooh MG....

Every time MG says something, I like him even less. Idiots had a Black Canary and did piss all with the character. Now all of a sudden she's important. Wish they would get rid of him.
